MAPF Chapter 33
by BLReadsChapter 33: Love Cells “Quite Cute.”…
He Xin Technology’s project manager was an older uncle, who explained in great detail to Xie Shiwei how advanced the company’s big data actuarial model was, how many activity results it had successfully predicted, and how many events it had helped to become popular.
The uncle spoke with fervor, and Xie Shiwei gradually spaced out, unable to help but recall the past.
Before he transmigrated, his proposals were often rejected by his superiors or the finance department for the same reasons: wasting money, wasting time, wasting resources, and ultimately dismissed with a “not necessary.”
He knew that what maintained the efficient operation of modern society was efficiency, organization, and planning, and that all romantic ideas and goodwill were superfluous.
But was that right?
Xie Shiwei said he wanted to talk to He Qin alone.
The uncle said, “Mr. Xie, whether you talk or not will not affect the result. He Xin’s major projects must be approved by the board, and the project proposal must be submitted according to the results of the data system’s pre-simulation. This is the company’s charter and must be followed.”
Xie Shiwei retorted mercilessly, “You seem to have forgotten that this is a project co-operated by two companies. Most of the funding is provided by the Xie Shi Group Foundation, and your company’s equipment production still relies on our company’s material authorization.”
The person in charge’s face flushed slightly at once, and he looked somewhat angry.
He Qin sent him out of the office first. Xie Shiwei stood by the window, his silhouette clearly showing his disappointment.
He Qin asked him, “What do you want to talk to me about?”
Xie Shiwei looked directly at He Qin, not being polite in the slightest, “Are you asking the obvious? I’ll be blunt, I don’t like your result-oriented corporate culture. This is a public welfare project, and even if the ultimate goal is to promote new products, the public welfare nature of the project should not be ignored. You were an orphan yourself and have feelings for the orphanage. You clearly have the ability to cover all the orphanages, so why deprive some children of this opportunity?”
“Running a company isn’t as simple as you think,” He Qin sat down on the sofa, crossing his legs, “Enterprises must be constrained by rules. He Xin isn’t listed yet and doesn’t have the Xie Shi Group’s rich family fortune. This time, an exception was made out of sympathy to approve more funding and equipment. What about next time? And the time after that?”
Xie Shiwei looked at He Qin in disappointment, trying hard to restrain the urge to call him cold-blooded, indifferent, and heartless, “I understand your thinking, but I don’t agree. If you insist, I will represent the Xie Shi Group in terminating the cooperation.”
He Qin stared at Xie Shiwei and suddenly asked, “Xie Shiwei, do you know that when you’re angry, there’s a little parenthesis on the lower part of your right cheek?”
Xie Shiwei was stunned, and slowly blinked, “What?”
He Qin pointed to the side of his lip, “Here.”
Xie Shiwei dazedly touched it with his fingers, and really felt a small depression.
“It should be because you’re clenching your teeth, relax a bit,” He Qin continued.
Xie Shiwei relaxed his jaw, and the parenthesis disappeared.
“It’s gone now, try biting again?”
Xie Shiwei found that this was indeed the case, so he bit his teeth again, and the parenthesis reappeared. He fell into a completely new understanding of himself, chewing the air in small increments for half a minute.
He Qin smiled, and even laughed out loud.
Xie Shiwei realized it, instantly stopped biting, and angrily said, “He Qin, I’m talking to you about serious matters, what are you doing? Appreciating animal performances? Is it so funny to watch me chew my cheek, I’m going to charge!”
He Qin looked at Xie Shiwei’s ruffled feathers with interest, remembering the way this person had spewed flowery words at him on the wedding day, which was completely out of character.
“Quite cute,” He Qin said.
Xie Shiwei didn’t know that He Qin was serious, and only felt that he was being mocked, so he angrily sat down on the ground.
Lin Ying happened to come in to deliver materials to He Qin, almost stepped on Xie Shiwei, and took an emergency step back, “Mr. Xie! There are surveillance cameras at the office door, don’t try to scam us!”
Xie Shiwei weakly said, “I… I’m not trying to scam you.”
“Then what are you doing?”
Xie Shiwei glared at He Qin, “Arguing with him!”
Lin Ying was frightened when he heard this, put down the things and slipped away.
Helpless, He Qin walked to Xie Shiwei’s side and held out his hand to him, “Get up, let me finish what I have to say.”
Xie Shiwei curled up in a ball in self-imposed isolation, “I won’t.”
Helpless, He Qin reached out and pressed down a tuft of hair that was sticking up on Xie Shiwei’s head, “If the company doesn’t support it, I can support the activity in my personal name, without going through the public account.”
“What?” Xie Shiwei suddenly raised his head, his small face directly plunged into He Qin’s palm, which he hadn’t had time to retract. His eyes went black, he yelped, grabbed He Qin’s wrist and stood up, “Are you serious?”
“Yeah.” He Qin’s palm was tickled by the tip of Xie Shiwei’s nose.
“Then why didn’t you say so earlier?”
“I just wanted to stick to the principle. The company’s rules and culture all have reasons, and they are also necessary conditions for maintaining the operation of the enterprise. As an operator, I have my difficulties and must be responsible to the employees.”
Xie Shiwei said, “Okay, I understand, thank you.”
“You’re welcome, are there any welfare institutions that need to be visited on-site?”
Xie Shiwei circled a few places on the form, “The environmental conditions of these few may not meet the standards, I want to go and see the quality of the housing and the power supply.”
“Okay, I’ll go with you.”
.
Late in the morning, Xie Shiwei asked He Qin if he wanted to have lunch, and if he did, he would have the kitchen make some and send it over. He Qin looked at the schedule and confirmed that he had an hour free at noon, and nodded.
Xie Shiwei decided to carry out the matchmaking plan, and quietly sent Bai An a WeChat message, saying that the kitchen had prepared too much food, and He Qin wanted to invite him to have lunch together.
Bai An asked: [Really?]
Xie Shiwei: [Yeah, he misses you so much, he even praised your paintings today, and he’s going to attend your graduation ceremony. I just saw that he was concerned about you, so I called you to come.]
Bai An smiled, hugged his phone and rolled around on the bed, and knocked on the door of He Qin’s office on time for lunch.
He Qin opened the door and saw Bai An, surprised: “Why are you here?”
Bai An was stunned, thinking, didn’t you ask me to come?
Xie Shiwei happened to be walking over carrying two boxes of lunch, passing between He Qin and Bai An, taking the dishes out of the insulated bag one by one, arranging them neatly on the table, and running away like a gust of wind: “You guys eat! I’m leaving first!”
He Qin’s brow twitched, slammed the office door shut and chased after him, grabbing Xie Shiwei’s collar at the elevator entrance.
“Ouch, damn it, He Qin, what are you doing!” Xie Shiwei was choke-held, and struggled in terror.
He Qin let go of his hand, smiling insincerely, “You asked him to come and eat with me, and you’re not eating?”
Xie Shiwei nodded.
“Why?”
Xie Shiwei said, “Wang Gugu told me that you’re still in a cold war with Bai An because of me. It’s not necessary. He’s your only brother. It’s not worth it to fall out over me. I want to create an opportunity for you to make up as before.”
“And Bai An also likes to eat the food from our kitchen. You saw it last time too. He ate so deliciously. You can ask him to come and eat with you more often in the future, so you can eat more too.”
“By the way, there are also two movie tickets pressed under the lunch box. It’s for the cinema diagonally opposite. You can go to the movies together tonight too.”
Xie Shiwei believed that he was considerate and thoughtful, and this move would definitely raise He Qin’s impression of him to a higher level.
But He Qin didn’t look happy at all, “Then what are you eating, the company cafeteria?”
Xie Shiwei waved his hand dismissively, “No one eats that stuff at the cafeteria, of course I’m going to a restaurant with my colleagues, the roast duck restaurant at the intersection, it’s so delicious.”
He Qin said “I see” expressionlessly, and turned to leave.
Xie Shiwei was almost worried to death.
Are He Qin’s love cells completely dead?
He clearly cares so much about Bai An, but can’t bring himself to take the initiative to make up with Bai An. He helps out righteously, but why is he giving him a stinky face?
Could it be that impotence leads to hormonal imbalance and intermittent mood swings???
Xie Shiwei rolled his eyes and went downstairs to meet up with Team Three.
Qiao Mu brought him a bottle of grape soda. Xie Shiwei said “Thank you, buddy,” couldn’t open it, and Qiao Mu helped him open it casually. Xie Shiwei gave him a thumbs up.
On the top floor of He Xin Technology, He Qin looked down at the silly way Xie Shiwei was jumping and skipping into the restaurant outside the French window, and his expression became even more ugly.
Lin Ying came over to deliver documents again, and casually said to He Qin that Xie Shiwei had forgotten to bring his temporary work pass when he left. He might not be able to swipe the elevator to the President’s Office floor next time he comes, so he would put a spare one at the front desk for him later.
He Qin sneered, “Good riddance if he can’t come up.”
Lin Ying carefully said, “Are you two still fighting?”
Bai An interjected, “Little Qin gege originally disliked him, it’s normal that he doesn’t want to see him.”
He Qin coldly said, “Why are you interrupting while eating?”
Bai An lowered his head, holding the bowl and eating mouthful after mouthful, and as he ate, tears rolled into the rice, and he sobbed with his shoulders shaking.
He Qin frowned, “What are you crying about?”
Bai An simply put down the bowl and burst into tears, “Little Qin gege, why are you so fierce to me! Xie Shiwei said, said you missed me so much that you asked me to come and eat, is he lying to me, you haven’t forgiven me at all, you don’t want to see me!”
The more Bai An spoke, the more sad he became, and the louder he cried. Lin Ying couldn’t bear to listen, but He Qin stood there like a statue, not even looking at him once.
“President He, you should say something to comfort him.” Lin Ying wiped his sweat.
He Qin’s temples tightened from Bai An’s crying, “Bai An, have you cried enough? Is there no other way to solve problems besides crying?”
“Then, what can I do? You don’t want to see me, and I don’t dare to contact you. Finally, I see, see you, and you’re so fierce to me again, I’m so sad!” Bai An cried so hard that he couldn’t catch his breath, raised his hand and wiped away a handful of tears, his eyes red, “Little Qin gege, we’re all grown up now, and we all have our own lives, I understand, if you find me annoying, I won’t, I won’t bother you again in the future.”
Lin Ying sighed and left with the document box.
Only Bai An’s sobbing remained in the room.
He Qin took three deep breaths to calm himself down. Maybe Xie Shiwei was right, he was really wrong, he shouldn’t have been so cruel to Bai An.
In childhood, if Bai An hadn’t discovered the leaking gas and smashed the window to save him, he wouldn’t have been alive now.
He Qin sighed, pulled out a few tissues for Bai An, and softened his tone: “Okay, I don’t find you annoying, I’ve just been too busy lately, don’t think so much.”
Bai An stopped crying: “Then, then do you have time to take me back to the orphanage, I want to see Teacher He before I go back to the United States.”
He Qin: “Xie Shiwei and I are going to visit the orphanage together, and we’ll detour to the Black Mountain Orphanage on the way, you can go with us.”
As soon as Bai An heard this, he wanted to cry again.
Why is Xie Shiwei everywhere!
