Chapter 39: Getting Along – He Qin Will Stand Up For Him

Xie Shiwei quickly smoothed things over, “It has nothing to do with chickens, it was a slip of the tongue. I meant pectoral muscles, and I won’t hold it against you for letting me use them as a pillow.”

He Qin nodded, “Sorry, I made you uncomfortable. It won’t happen again.”

“It’s okay, I’m just good-tempered and forgive you.” Xie Shiwei smiled. “Also, I really didn’t mean to knock your bathrobe off just now, absolutely not on purpose, don’t mind it.”

“It’s nothing, I never really cared about these things. Just a few pieces of meat, everyone has them.” He Qin said casually.

Xie Shiwei silently lowered his head; he really didn’t have them.

So after dinner, he was uncharacteristically not glued to his phone watching dramas or live streams. Instead, he put on a headband and went to the gym to work out.

He Qin stood on the second-floor corridor, looking down.

The gym was in the sky garden and was completely transparent. Xie Shiwei’s figure, working hard, looked particularly energetic, except his movements were all wrong.

Xie Shiwei was listening to music on Bluetooth headphones while doing deadlifts when He Qin’s phone suddenly rang.

He answered, and He Qin’s voice rang in his ear, “Xie Shiwei, you’re doing the movements wrong.”

Xie Shiwei looked up and saw He Qin’s figure on the second floor, and said, panting, “Then why don’t you come down and teach me?”

He Qin didn’t go over, just gave him a few pointers on deadlifts and chest presses over the phone.

Xie Shiwei thought he was stingy, unwilling to impart his knowledge. He Qin just smiled and said nothing, saying they could talk about it next time.

It wasn’t that he was unwilling, it was just a rational assessment that after this afternoon’s contact, getting closer to Xie Shiwei again might lead to him losing control again.

In the evening, Xie Shiwei returned to his room, took a refreshing shower, and happily grabbed a glass of iced milk tea to drink. Not seeing He Qin around, he then opened the door to the study and, as expected, saw He Qin sitting in front of the computer again, a small lamp on the desk and the light from the computer screen illuminating his face together.

He Qin saw him and said, “Drinking milk tea so late? Then what’s the point of working out? It’ll all be for nothing.”

“Working out makes me feel better about drinking milk tea, okay?”

He Qin smiled and said nothing more, continuing to look at the screen.

“What about you? Didn’t you say you were taking a day off? Why are you working again now?”

He Qin: “It’s not work, I’m looking at Xiao Yue’s post-operative check-up report and precautions.”

It turned out that Xiao Yue’s surgery was completed last week.

Xie Shiwei moved a chair and squeezed next to He Qin to look at the report, asking questions about anything he didn’t understand and listening to He Qin’s explanations.

The two were very close, and when their eyes met, they could easily see the fine hairs on each other’s faces, and even smell the scents of two different toothpastes.

He Qin saw Xie Shiwei’s worry, “Don’t worry, Xiao Yue is recovering well. Children learn things quickly, and her language function will basically recover in a few days. In a few days, I’ll take her over, and we’ll send her back to the Black Mountain Orphanage/Welfare Institute together.”

“Okay.” Xie Shiwei lowered his eyes, his gaze flickering slightly, “He Qin, is it that no one wants to adopt Xiao Yue?”

“No, a couple wanted to adopt her, but they couldn’t afford the cochlear implant surgery, so I took her to get the surgery first.”

    “Oh, that’s good.”

It was getting late, Xie Shiwei told He Qin that he was going to sleep, then returned to the bedroom first, falling asleep as soon as he lay down on the bed.

Perhaps because of Xiao Yue, he dreamed of his childhood experiences again.

In the dream, he was carrying a large luggage bag, was caught by his eldest uncle and sent to his second uncle’s house, and then sent by his second aunt to his youngest uncle’s house, being kicked around by countless relatives, and finally returned alone to the small house that his parents had used to pay off debts, where he temporarily lived.

The house was dark, full of mold, with only a small, high window, and it was especially cold in the winter night.

He Qin returned to the bedroom at twelve o’clock.

It wasn’t that he wanted to watch Xie Shiwei sleep, it was just the structure of the house; no matter where he went, he had to pass through here.

In the silence, the moonlight penetrated the whiteThe squid, shining on Xie Shiwei’s face, revealing his tightly furrowed brows and painful expression.

He Qin remembered the morning of the first day he moved in, when Xie Shiwei grabbed his hand and asked him not to drive him away.

At that time, he certainly thought Xie Shiwei was abnormal, but he didn’t care.

But now it was different. He looked at Xie Shiwei having a nightmare and actually felt a little uncomfortable.

He raised his hand and placed it on Xie Shiwei’s head, gently patting it rhythmically, until the person under his palm gradually relaxed his eyebrows and released his tightly clenched blanket, before returning to theFilm Studio, but without closing the door to Xie Shiwei, which he had always closed before.

    .

The new week, Xie Shiwei was back in He Qin’s car again, only this time he had He Qin drop him off at the entrance of Technology Port.

“What’s up?” He Qin pulled over to the side of the road.

“Qiao Mu bought a new motorcycle and can give me a ride.”

    “You like motorcycles?”

“Yeah, look, Qiao Mu is over there!”

He Qin looked out the window, Qiao Mu was wearing a helmet and sunglasses, politely nodded to him, and told Xie Shiwei to hurry up and get in the car. Xie Shiwei ran over, put on his helmet, happily sat on the back seat, and grabbed Qiao Mu’s wide jacket around his waist.

“Hold on tight, Shiwei! Let’s go!”

    “Got it!”

In a burst of roaring wind, Xie Shiwei disappeared around the corner of the intersection with a whoosh.

There were still a few kilometers from the entrance of Technology Port to the company, and He Qin followed in his car. The speed limit here was low, and the motorcycles weren’t going fast, so he drove even slower.

Honking was prohibited on the road, and cars passed one after another. Some drivers wanted to curse when overtaking, but when they stuck their heads out and recognized He Qin, they pulled their heads back in.

Halfway there, Lin Ying, who was riding a small electric scooter to work, saw his boss driving at a snail’s pace, went around to the front, and knocked on the half-lowered passenger window, “Good morning, President He! Is the car out of gas?”

He Qin said calmly, “No, I’m tailing.”

Lin Ying was shocked by He Qin’s lack of class, looked around, and saw Xie Shiwei in the back seat of the motorcycle not far ahead.

Just last week, he had witnessed Xie Shiwei causing a scene in He Qin’s office, mistakenly believing that the boss was still angry with Xie Shiwei. He understood and left, telling the assistant about this fresh gossip when he got to the company.

“I knew it, our President He is a man of unparalleled reputation and would never associate with someone like Xie Shiwei.” The assistant was relieved. He had been harmed the most by Xie Shiwei in the past, and hated Xie Shiwei the most in all of He Xin. The other day, he watched Xie Shiwei and the boss working together with smiles and laughter, and wished he could gouge his eyes out.

The assistant was a chatterbox, and in a few minutes, the news that Xie Shiwei had fallen out of favor again spread throughout the top floor.

    .

Xie Shiwei got on the coveted cool motorcycle, reluctantly moved his butt from the back seat in the parking lot, and gazed affectionately at Qiao Mu’s Augusta.

Qiao Mu generously let Xie Shiwei touch the car body, and reached out to help him take off his helmet.

Just as he unbuckled one buckle, a slender and powerful hand blocked him, “Let me do it.”

    It was He Qin.

Xie Shiwei and Qiao Mu were both stunned.

He Qin took Xie Shiwei’s helmet off and handed it to Qiao Mu, and casually smoothed Xie Shiwei’s disheveled hair, asking Qiao Mu what model his car was.

Qiao Mu was a hardcore motorcycle enthusiast, mistakenly believing that He Qin was really interested, and began to explain his MR100 in detail.

Xie Shiwei touched his hair, feeling that He Qin was acting strangely.

His car was always parked in the dedicated parking space downstairs at He Xin, but had never been parked in a public area.

The three walked to the entrance of Xie Shi Group, He Qin politely thanked Qiao Mu for the introduction, and kept watching Xie Shiwei and Qiao Mu disappear into the Xie Shi Group building together, asking Lin Ying to prepare a detailed list of the popular motorcycles on the market, and then print out the detailed arrangements for the visit to the Black Mountain Orphanage/Welfare Institute that had been set a few days ago.

    .

Inside the Third Team office, Xie Shiwei was working with Qiao Mu on the details of the stray cat rescue plan, the two of them brainstorming various ideas, when he received a call from He Qin, asking him to come over and pick up some Black Mountain Orphanage/Welfare Institute materials.

Xie Shiwei reluctantly looked at the half-finished plan, got up and left, and habitually reached into his pocket for the elevator card when he got to the elevator hall on the first floor of He Xin, but didn’t find it.

He couldn’t go up without a card.

Besides He Qin and his father, there were about a dozen employees working on the top floor of He Xin. Only these dozen or so people in the entire company could take this direct elevator.

Xie Shiwei didn’t know them, so he sent He Qin a message asking him to come and pick him up.

Just after sending the message, the elevator went down to the first floor, and a short, stout man came out. Xie Shiwei introduced himself and asked him to swipe the card for him.

He Qin’s assistant glared angrily at Xie Shiwei, thinking that this person’s skin was thicker than a city wall, “Mr. Xie, our rule is one card per person. In order to protect President He’s comfortable and normal working environment, I can’t swipe for you.”

Xie Shiwei didn’t know the assistant and felt that this person had some hostility towards him, explaining, “President He called me to come.”

“Stop using President He as a shield, who doesn’t know he’s still angry with you?” the assistant said contemptuously, “Don’t waste your efforts, young master Xie.”

    Angry? Was that a thing?

Xie Shiwei couldn’t get through to this person, and saw a man and a woman coming to wait for the elevator, so he explained his purpose and asked if they could take the elevator up together later.

The man and woman looked at him, shook their heads, and said they couldn’t. Xie Shiwei asked why, the man and woman looked at the assistant’s face, dared not say more, and could only repeat that they were sorry.

Some ordinary employees gradually gathered around, looking to the side and whispering rumors, Xie Shiwei pricked up his ears and heard words like “fallen out of favor,” “arguing,” and “entanglement.”

It seemed like he was being targeted by the employees of He Xin.

    Xie Shiwei sighed.

All his hard work had been in vain; these people still treated him like the original owner, avoiding him like the plague.

At this moment, the elevator dinged. The door opened, and He Qin strode out.

Seeing the person who came, the whispering people immediately fell silent, saying “Hello, President He” one after another. The assistant and the man and woman also bowed to say hello.

He Qin nodded in acknowledgment, noticing Xie Shiwei’s slightly disappointed expression, and asked him what was wrong.

The assistant thought he was asking him and immediately took credit, “President He, Assistant Lin said you were still having a conflict with Mr. Xie, but Mr. Xie said that you asked him to come, which is obviously a lie. I thought he must be here to cause trouble again, so I specifically stopped him for your safety and didn’t swipe the elevator for him.”

He Qin frowned when he heard this and asked Xie Shiwei, “Didn’t the two of them help you either?”

Xie Shiwei’s gaze swept over the man and woman, hesitated for a moment, and finally nodded lightly.

He didn’t need to endure the grievances.

Because he inexplicably felt that He Qin would stand up for him.
