    Chapter Index

    I knew you’d like it.

Chaeheon interpreted his words as he pleased, but Lee Jun didn’t bother to correct him. Instead, he drank his coffee and admired the lake. It was a peaceful time, watching the waves carried by the wind and unable to tear his eyes away from the glittering surface. It was a special time, enough to make him forget what happened yesterday and what he did today.

“I think it’s time you told me.”

Lee Jun spoke to Chaeheon, who was admiring the lake just as he was.

“You must have a lot to say, don’t you?”

    “Hmm… Is that so?”

Yesterday, the two had quite a long conversation in the car. However, that was only about Chaeheon’s past, and Lee Jun implicitly realized that the story they were about to share was different.

Perhaps… it was about Han Jeong-min.

“Han Jeong-min came to see me yesterday.”

    Just as expected.

Lee Jun drank his coffee instead of answering.

“Lee Jun, when do you think Han Jeong-min knew?”

    “Hmm…”

Originally, he thought Han Jeong-min had found out recently. He thought Han Jeong-min had come to confirm if Haein had given birth, but a single smile from Han Jeong-min shook all his assumptions. Could it be that Han Jeong-min had known even before that?

“He said he knew from the beginning…”

    Chaeheon kindly informed Lee Jun.

    “From the beginning…”

Lee Jun repeated Chaeheon’s words verbatim, turning them over in his mind.

“What I’m about to tell you is exactly what I heard from Han Jeong-min. Of course, from your perspective, it won’t sound objective. Keep that in mind as you listen.”

Chaeheon didn’t allow Lee Jun to sink into his thoughts alone. Chaeheon’s voice grew firm, as if to tell him that it wouldn’t be too late to judge after hearing everything.

“He said that when he found out Haein was pregnant, he knew his family wouldn’t accept it. So he was watching, and he moved when he thought he had seized an opportunity, and that opportunity was…”

    “Chaeheon.”

There was no way he couldn’t know. As Lee Jun raised his head toward Chaeheon as if mesmerized, their gazes met. Since they hadn’t been looking at each other, he didn’t know what expression Chaeheon had been making. However, Lee Jun, who had expected Chaeheon to be expressionless while relaying Han Jeong-min’s thoughts, widened his eyes in surprise.

The regret etched on Chaeheon’s face. He didn’t know if it was a feeling for Han Jeong-min or if he was thinking of Haein.

“That’s right. He thinks I can help.”

Chaeheon calmly admitted that he was involved.

“He said that if I help, he could marry Haein, as well as Hae Sol…”

As his words trailed off, Lee Jun unconsciously leaned forward. The words he wanted to hear, as much as that Han Jeong-min had known from the beginning, had not yet been spoken. Since Han Jeong-min had asked Chaeheon for help, a lot could change depending on Chaeheon’s choice. Because Chaeheon’s thoughts might differ from his own, Lee Jun looked at Chaeheon with a slight tension.

    “What do you think?”

    “I…”

Chaeheon said, still wearing a regretful expression.

“I don’t think much of it.”

    “…”

    Then what’s with that expression?
