TBOUMTBDK Chapter 17
by BLReadsChapter 17: Confidence “Does Your Venerable like you quite a bit?”…
Xiu Wu remained silent.
Yun Xia emerged from the demon guard ranks, arms crossed, “General Xiu Wu, are you overestimating me too much, or underestimating His Esteemed Lord too much?”
“Nonsense! How dare you speak ill of His Esteemed Lord!”
Xiu Wu was furious, directly reaching out to grab Yun Xia, his large hand looking like steel.
Yun Xia hadn’t expected him to actually attack, but this time he couldn’t escape even if he wanted to. He was completely frozen in place, unable to move, and could only watch as the hand reached for him.
Only now did he realize that Xiu Wu hadn’t been using his full strength before.
The demon guard captain, seeing this, uneasily called out, “General Xiu Wu!”
Just as Xiu Wu was about to touch Yun Xia, a gust of wind descended, and Xiu Wu’s hand was intercepted mid-air. A slender, fair hand gently rested on it, stopping Xiu Wu from advancing further.
Everyone was stunned, and with a “whoosh,” they all knelt down.
“Greetings, Your Esteemed Lord!”
The moment the Demon Lord appeared, Yun Xia felt his whole body lighten, and the power that had been binding him instantly vanished.
Before he could even speak, General Xiu Wu was already kneeling before the Demon Lord, saying in a deep voice, “Your Esteemed Lord, the demon general has investigated this person and found that his entry into the Demon Palace was unusual. He wasn’t selected through the usual channels, but was instead chosen by a single steward who has now disappeared.”
Immediately lodging a complaint!
Yun Xia felt a little guilty, but his expression was reasonable, “If the steward promoted me, isn’t it because I’m more outstanding than others? Does his disappearance have to be blamed on me?”
As soon as these words came out, everyone looked at him, including the Demon Lord.
The demon guard squad leader thought to himself, “As far as I know, Lord Yun Xia doesn’t seem to do much, but he has consistently kept His Esteemed Lord calm, even happy. My colleagues all say that since Lord Yun Xia appeared, His Esteemed Lord has been throwing tantrums much less often.”
“It’s probably thanks to Lord Yun Xia. He really is amazing.”
“No wonder Lord Yun Xia is so confident.”
Xiu Wu, “At least it shows that your origins are unknown.”
Yun Xia, “Do origins matter? The entire Demon Realm belongs to His Esteemed Lord. I am a demon, so no matter where I come from, I am His Esteemed Lord’s person.”
Xiu Wu couldn’t argue with him, gnashing his teeth, “You, a mere demon servant spouting nonsense and boasting shamelessly, daring to…”
“How is it nonsense? If His Esteemed Lord disliked or was annoyed by me, would I still be standing here? His Esteemed Lord hasn’t even punished me yet, and you want to deal with me. Who exactly isn’t putting His Esteemed Lord in their eyes, trying to overstep their bounds?”
These words were heavy. Xiu Wu was shocked, realizing that he had indeed overlooked a very important issue. He had only focused on whether Yun Xia harbored ulterior motives, but had forgotten that this might be something His Esteemed Lord had tacitly approved of.
In an instant, he seemed to understand something, heavily lowering his head and pleading for punishment from the Demon Lord, who had been standing silently by the side, “Please punish me, Your Esteemed Lord. This subordinate has overstepped. This subordinate didn’t mean to.”
Yun Xia was stunned. He admitted his mistake so quickly.
For a moment, no one spoke.
After a long while, they finally heard the Demon Lord say, “Two days.”
Xiu Wu shuddered, deeply bowing his head, “Yes, Your Esteemed Lord. This demon general accepts the punishment.”
Just came back and now has to go back for punishment, serves you right for getting anxious.
Yun Xia clicked his tongue and shook his head. As soon as he looked up, he saw the Demon Lord looking at him. He lowered his eyes to avoid the mask that affected people’s minds, “Your Esteemed Lord, I…”
Before he could finish speaking, the Demon Lord suddenly reached out and gently wiped the trace of blood from Yun Xia’s lips. Yun Xia suddenly froze, all his attention focused on his own lips.
The man’s finger rubbed against his lips, and seemed to even knead it a little. Yun Xia’s somewhat slow brain thought that maybe the bloodstain was hard to wipe off. Then, he heard the man say, “Go.”
Yun Xia opened his mouth, feeling his lips tingle, along with half of his face. He hurriedly nodded and left, forgetting to even say thank you.
The demon general Xiu Wu, who hadn’t left yet, watched this scene in shock, unable to say a word.
When everyone else had left, Yun Xia slowly stopped walking, touched his lips, and sighed, “Alas, when Your Esteemed Lord is gentle, it’s really unbearable, unbearable.”
Two days later, An He notified him that he would soon be able to get the things prepared for the barbecue.
Thinking about how he would soon be able to learn Flight, Yun Xia was very excited. Even guarding the entrance to the main hall didn’t seem so bad anymore – he didn’t enter the study that night, but stood guard at the entrance with An He, because the Demon Lord was holding a meeting inside.
An He looked him up and down, thoughtfully saying, “Your Esteemed Lord is so good to you, aren’t you planning to invite Your Esteemed Lord to eat something too?”
Yun Xia, “Of course I’m going to invite him. My cooking skills are no joke. In the past, my family… cough, what I grilled would be snatched up.”
An He smiled, “Then I’m looking forward to it.”
But after standing guard until late at night, even Yun Xia couldn’t take it anymore. As they chatted, he started to doze off.
He used to be able to cultivate and push his sleep time to the daytime, but now it was dark, quiet, and there was nothing to do, which was perfect for sleeping.
“An He, I’m going to close my eyes for a bit. If Your Esteemed Lord needs anything, remember to remind me.” Yun Xia blinked hard and decided to be lazy and sleep.
An He no longer held him to the standards of ordinary demon servants, and nodded when he heard this, “Okay, you sleep.”
Yun Xia leaned against the door and closed his eyes to nap. He had even amusingly drawn a pair of open cartoon eyes and stuck them on his face, which could also be used as a sleep mask.
In the middle of the night, anyone who saw the thick, black lines and white eyes on his face would probably be startled.
And Yun Xia fell asleep, leaning against the door in a superb standing position, of course, not forgetting to use magic to fix his body in place to prevent him from falling down after falling asleep.
The sky gradually brightened, and there was no sound from inside the Ten Thousand Demon Hall. Yun Xia slept soundly for half the night.
Just as An He was about to wake him up, someone came.
It was Xiu Wu.
Xiu Wu looked a little pale. His skin was already dark, so even if his lips were slightly paler, it wasn’t obvious. He had wanted to walk straight in to see the Demon Lord, but when his eyes scanned the area, he saw Yun Xia wearing a pair of fake eyes.
Xiu Wu, “…”
He was so angry that he laughed, pointed at him, and turned to look at An He.
“Is this how he stands guard at night?”
An He thought for a moment and said gently, “Only last night.”
He had never stood guard all night before.
“Impudent! Presuming on favor, being lazy and useless, how could Your Esteemed Lord protect him like this!”
He really wanted to drag Yun Xia in to be dealt with by the Demon Lord, but when he thought about how he had just come out of the Nether Ghost Formation, he didn’t want to go back in again because of this person.
He didn’t lower his voice at all, so Yun Xia was woken up.
He peeled off the thin fake skin from his eyes, crumpled it up, and threw it away. Seeing Xiu Wu’s dark face, he even raised his hand and said hello, “Good morning, General Xiu Wu.”
Xiu Wu glared at him fiercely, the image of the Demon Lord wiping his lips flashed through his mind, and he choked silently, walking into the Ten Thousand Demon Hall with the force of a tiger – as the Demon Lord’s close demon general, he didn’t need to report.
Yun Xia didn’t care. He heard An He say from the side, “When are you and Your Esteemed Lord going to have the barbecue? I’ll receive the things and give them to you today.”
Yun Xia stretched greatly to wake himself up, “Thank you. I don’t know, depends on when Your Esteemed Lord…”
He paused and looked back at An He, “You guessed it.”
An He, “It’s actually quite easy to guess. You wouldn’t go to the barbecue alone. If you were going with Wei Ying or someone else, you would have told me. If it’s someone you can’t easily talk about, then it’s Your Esteemed Lord.”
…Smart.
“Okay, but don’t tell anyone. I’m already high-profile enough, I don’t want to be even more high-profile.”
An He nodded, “I understand.”
Yun Xia was relieved, and then heard An He say, “Does Your Esteemed Lord like you quite a bit?”
His eyes were deep, flickering with emotions that were hard to understand.
“Yes, if he didn’t like me, he wouldn’t have kept me by his side for so long, right?”
An He didn’t speak, staring at him for a long time, until Yun Xia felt strange all over.
“The ‘like’ I’m talking about isn’t that kind of ‘like’.” He said slowly.
