Qin Xian regretted it as soon as he knocked the person out. He should have at least had Xun Dawei follow him downstairs.
Now, to prevent this person from being killed by the grotesque after losing his ability to resist, he had to drag him outside the hospital.
There was no other way. He found a rope, stuffed it into his pocket, and under the silent gaze of the black membrane grotesques, he unfastened the hospital bed railing.
Then, Qin Xian yanked the person off the bed like a sack of rags, dragging him away from the ward under the watchful eyes of the black membrane grotesques.
Fortunately, there was an elevator next to the ward. After going down to the first floor, Qin Xian tied the person up thoroughly to a pillar at the hospital entrance, deliberately positioning him in a spot where he wouldn’t be easily discovered.
This was to prevent him from suddenly appearing and scaring people once the domain was lifted.
They were still within the grotesque’s domain. Outside the hospital building’s main entrance, it was pitch black, with no sign of any living people.
It looked quite terrifying, but there was no dangerous aura in this area.
The most dangerous place was likely the location of the domain’s owner, estimated to be on the fourth floor.
Qin Xian ascended the stairs cautiously. On the third floor, he found a woman with a gaunt face, drawn by a sound of crying.
She looked to be in her early thirties, huddled behind the safety door and trembling. After confirming she was alive, Qin Xian greeted her, “Hello.”
The woman was startled and looked up, nervously wiping away tears as she assessed the situation.
A young man had appeared at the end of the stairwell and was slowly walking towards her. The man was handsome but appeared somewhat aloof, and he was holding a marrow bone.
A marrow bone?
The woman asked hesitantly, “Hello… hello, are you human?”
“I am,” Qin Xian replied. “What’s your name, and what happened?”
The woman answered softly, “My name is An Baixin. I don’t know what happened… Is it a ghost? Are there really ghosts in the world?”
“What kind of ghost?”
“My father-in-law turned into a monster, and then… then my husband… and his brother’s family all grew black things. And the people in the next ward too! It’s too terrifying, what’s happening? Are there really ghosts in this world?” An Baixin hugged herself in panic, trembling even harder.
She was wearing a very cheap T-shirt and jeans, her long hair tied up in a bun at the back of her head, but most of it had come undone. It hung messily around her pale, somewhat malnourished cheeks.
An Baixin continued, “I wanted to run, but I couldn’t get out. Are you here to save me? Please save me!”
Qin Xian replied, “Then we need to go see your family first.”
“No, no!” An Baixin shook her head. “I don’t want to go back, I’ll die!”
“Then you’ll stay here alone? But I have to tell you, nothing is coming out to kill you now because they haven’t fully developed yet. It will be different later. If you continue to stay here alone, you’ll likely be in trouble.” Qin Xian finished speaking, opened the safety door, and slowly walked inside, showing no sympathy.
A moment later, the sound of stumbling footsteps followed.
An Baixin’s legs felt weak, but she decided to trust the young man in front of her.
However, she soon began to regret it a little.
As soon as they returned to the ward corridor from the safety passage, they encountered a black monster in a patient gown.
Various black flesh tissues were piled and covered on its body, but its shape still retained a human form.
From its clothing, terrifying associations were unavoidable.
This thing must have been a person.
An Baixin screamed and instinctively covered her head.
Qin Xian beside her pushed her aside and blocked the monster’s claws with the marrow bone.
“Gurgle gurgle!” The monster let out a howl from its mouth and tried to push the bone away to attack again.
“Crack!”
Qin Xian swiftly moved behind it and twisted its neck.
An Baixin looked at the corpse on the ground in disbelief. “It, it…”
“He was already dead when he became like this,” Qin Xian said, stepping over the corpse and continuing forward.
An Baixin hurriedly followed, muttering weakly, “You… giving him a quick end… is good.”
This domain didn’t seem to have pulled too many people in. There were only a few stray victims in the corridor. One of them hadn’t even fully developed and was just making dull “gurgling” sounds at the wall.
Qin Xian ignored it and, after casually dispatching a few monsters, heard the sound of arguing from a distance.
In this eerie, silent place, people were actually arguing dangerously.
“That… sounds like my husband and them,” An Baixin said softly.
Qin Xian pushed the door open.
Inside the ward, something lay on the bed, and three people stood by it. But everyone had abnormalities, black tumors climbing along their limbs, already covering their necks and growing onto their faces.
The thing on the bed had completely lost its human form, becoming just a pool of black rotten flesh.
But the three people by the bedside were oblivious to these terrifying abnormalities and continued to argue fiercely.
To the right of the bed stood a middle-aged man, likely An Baixin’s husband.
To the left stood another middle-aged couple, An Baixin’s uncle and aunt.
An Baixin’s husband said to the monster on the bed, “Why only give me half the inheritance! You know I desperately need money, Dad!”
The monster on the bed, referred to as “Dad,” didn’t speak, only emitting strange laughter.
The uncle on the other side spoke, “I am Dad’s most favored son! I’ve been better than you since childhood, admit it! The money should be mine, not a cent for you!”
His wife chimed in, “Exactly! You gamble too, you spent all your wife’s money and now you’re asking Dad for money, have you no shame?!”
Qin Xian turned to look at An Baixin.
An Baixin immediately lowered her head, a flash of anger in her eyes, but she tightened her grip on her clothes without speaking.
“Nonsense! I’m talking about inheritance! How many times have you visited Dad during his illness?! How much money did you spend?! It was all us taking care of him!”
“And you took care of him? You didn’t visit the hospital much either. It was An Baixin taking care of him, right?”
“As a daughter-in-law, she should take care of both elders. I have to work. And my wife also helped take care of him, so it counts as our side, doesn’t it?”
The three began to fight as they argued, the black tumors secreting mucus, almost engulfing them entirely.
But they paid no mind, their minds only on the inheritance.
Qin Xian leaned against the wall, watching the spectacle with great amusement.
Unfortunately, there were no sunflower seeds for sale here, or he would definitely have some.
Finally, An Baixin’s husband reached out to the “father” on the bed and shouted, “Dad! You can’t be so biased, tell me your bank card password! And the family’s collectibles, where did you put them!?”
As his hand grasped the “father’s” neck, the tumors on his hand began to merge with the monster on the bed. In a few breaths, his entire arm had fused into it.
Facing this situation, he didn’t struggle at all, still trying to persuade his father to give him the inheritance.
An Baixin’s husband’s mouth, moving back and forth to talk about money, stretched and stuck to the side of the “father’s” face, looking like a kiss.
Qin Xian “tsk-tsked” twice. The scene was truly bizarre and spectacular.
The uncle and aunt on the other side of the bed were not to be outdone, grabbing the “father’s” arm and shouting, “Dad, you love me the most! Your things must be left to me, right? Quickly tell me the password. Don’t give it to brother, he’ll waste it all!”
“Yes, Dad! We didn’t visit you much because we were too busy. And Big Sister-in-law took care of you, she’s so considerate, we wouldn’t be much help to her!”
The few people chattered incessantly, slowly merging together.
Qin Xian glanced down at An Baixin, who was biting her lip and hugging herself tightly, and casually handed her something.
An Baixin looked and saw a sharp surgical knife. She didn’t know when this man had gotten it.
“For… me?” she asked in surprise.
Qin Xian directly shoved the surgical knife into her hand and pointed at the “father” on the bed. “This should be the main BOSS. It’s not difficult to handle. I don’t need this knife, but you can use it for self-defense.”
“Thank you…” An Baixin took the surgical knife and retreated backward, giving Qin Xian space and shrinking into the corner as much as possible.
Seeing her retreat, the “father” on the bed, who had been motionless, suddenly raised his hand tremblingly and spoke in a hoarse, elderly voice, “An Baixin, An Baixin, my urine bag is full, come and empty it quickly! And my legs need to be wiped, come quickly!”
An Baixin stumbled back two steps in fear and couldn’t help but shout, “No! I don’t want to take care of you!”
“You are my daughter-in-law! You must take care of me!”
“Then why don’t you let your son take care of you?! Or your other daughter-in-law?! You bark orders at me and make things difficult for me, why aren’t you dead yet?! Hurry up and die!!” An Baixin hugged her head, and black tumors began to appear on her fingers.
Enraged by her words, the monster on the bed finally moved. Its mouth split open, and a black-red tongue like a spring rope shot out and coiled towards An Baixin.
“Thwack!” Qin Xian struck the tongue with a bone, knocking it to the ground.
“I can deal with this thing faster, but there’s one thing I need to make clear to you. This domain has a strong connection to you. If you can’t fight back and change your mindset, you’ll be plagued by nightmares for the rest of your life, and you’ll die within a year.” Qin Xian swung his arm a couple more times, batting back the tongue that lunged again.
“Change… mindset?” An Baixin repeated the words, looking at Qin Xian in confusion.
After making eye contact with her, Qin Xian turned away and ignored her, showing no intention of continuing to be a life coach.
“An Baixin, An Baixin… I want honey water! An Baixin, why aren’t you coming yet! An Baixin!!”
“An Baixin, didn’t you hear Dad?! Serve him well, and the inheritance will be mine, hurry up and go!”
“An Baixin, help me wipe myself!”
Listening to the roars of the monster on the bed, An Baixin finally couldn’t take it anymore. “Get lost! Let your sons serve you! I don’t want to endure this anymore! And I don’t want to keep waiting for you to die so I can be free. All of you in this family are weirdos! Lunatics! I want a divorce, I want to leave your family. Of course, before I go, I’ll take what’s mine!”
“How dare you!!” The four mouths on the bed simultaneously shouted, “What kind of daughter-in-law are you?! If you dare to leave, no one will want you anymore!”
“Hahahaha, I’d rather live with dogs than with trash like you!” An Baixin tightly gripped the surgical knife and slashed fiercely at the tongue that was coiling towards her.
Qin Xian stepped aside slightly, giving her a look of slight approval.
Indeed, it was more comfortable to live with dogs.
