by BLReadsChapter 5: Living with a Dog Would Be More Comfortable
As soon as he knocked the person out, Qin Xian regretted it. He should have at least made Xun Dawei follow him downstairs.
Now, to prevent this person from being killed by an eldritch entity once he lost his ability to resist, Qin Xian had to throw him out of the hospital.
With no other choice, he found a rope, stuffed it into his pocket, and under the silent gaze of the black membrane eldritch entities, he removed the bed railing.
Then, Qin Xian pulled the person off the bed like a sack of rags and dragged him away from the ward, watched by the black membrane eldritch entities.
Fortunately, there was an elevator next to the ward. After going down to the first floor, Qin Xian tied the person up tightly to a pillar at the hospital entrance, specifically in a spot that wouldn’t be easily discovered.
This was to prevent him from scaring people if the domain suddenly disappeared later.
They were still within the eldritch entity’s domain. Outside the hospital’s main entrance, it was pitch black, with no sign of any living person.
It looked quite terrifying, but there was no dangerous aura in this area.
The most dangerous place was likely the location of the domain’s owner, which seemed to be on the fourth floor.
Qin Xian cautiously ascended the stairs. On the third floor, he followed a crying sound and found a woman with a haggard face.
She looked to be in her early thirties, curled up behind the fire escape door, trembling. After confirming she was alive, Qin Xian greeted her, “Hello.”
The woman was startled and looked up, nervously wiping away tears to assess the situation.
A young man appeared at the end of the stairs and slowly walked towards her. The man was handsome but appeared somewhat cold, and he was holding a femur bone.
A femur bone?
The woman asked doubtfully, “Hello… hello, are you human?”
“I am,” Qin Xian replied. “What’s your name, and what happened to you?”
The woman answered in a low voice, “My name is An Baixin. I don’t know what happened… Is it a ghost? Do ghosts really exist in the world?”
“What kind of ghost?”
“My father-in-law turned into a monster, and then, and then my husband… and his younger brother’s family all grew black things. And then the people in the next room too! It’s too terrifying, what’s happening? Do ghosts really exist in this world?” An Baixin hugged herself in panic, trembling even harder.
She was wearing a very cheap t-shirt and jeans, her long hair tied up at the back of her head, but it had mostly come undone. It hung messily around her somewhat malnourished, pale cheeks.
An Baixin continued, “I want to run, but I can’t get out. Are you here to save me? Please save me!”
Qin Xian replied, “Then we need to go see your family first.”
“No, no, no!” An Baixin shook her head. “I don’t want to go back, I’ll die!”
“You’ll stay here alone? But I have to tell you, nothing is coming out to kill you now because they haven’t fully developed yet. It will be different in a while. If you continue to stay here alone, you’re very likely to be in trouble,” Qin Xian said. After speaking, he opened the fire escape door and slowly walked inside, showing no sign of empathy.
A moment later, the sound of stumbling footsteps followed.
An Baixin’s legs felt weak, but she decided to trust the young man in front of her.
However, she soon began to regret it.
As soon as they returned to the ward corridor from the fire escape, they ran into a black monster wearing a hospital gown.
Various black flesh tissues were piled up on it, but from its shape, it still retained a humanoid form.
From its attire, one could make terrifying associations.
This thing must have been a person.
An Baixin screamed and instinctively covered her head.
Qin Xian, standing beside her, pushed her aside and blocked the monster’s claws with the femur bone.
“Gurgle, gurgle, gurgle!” The monster let out a howl, trying to push the bone away and attack.
“Crack!”
Qin Xian swiftly moved behind it and twisted its neck.
An Baixin stared at the corpse on the ground in disbelief. “It, it…”
“It died a long time ago when it turned into this,” Qin Xian said, walking past the corpse.
An Baixin hurried to follow, mumbling weakly, “You… giving him a quick end… is good.”
This domain didn’t seem to have pulled too many people in. There were only a few wandering victims in the corridor. One of them hadn’t even fully developed, only muttering “Gurgle” at the wall in a dazed state.
Qin Xian couldn’t be bothered to deal with it. After casually eliminating a few monsters, he heard the sound of an argument from a distance.
In this gloomy, dead silent place, people were actually arguing despite the danger.
“That… sounds like my husband and them,” An Baixin whispered.
Qin Xian pushed the door open.
Inside the ward, a thing lay on the bed, and three stood beside it. But each person had undergone a mutation, with black tumors climbing along their limbs, covering their entire bodies and growing onto their faces.
The one on the bed had completely lost its human form, becoming just a pile of black rotten flesh.
But the three standing by the bed seemed oblivious to these terrifying abnormalities and were still arguing fiercely.
To the right of the bed was a middle-aged man, likely An Baixin’s husband.
To the left stood another middle-aged couple, An Baixin’s uncle and aunt.
An Baixin’s husband said to the monster on the bed, “Why only half my inheritance! You know I need money urgently, Dad! Don’t you?”
The monster on the bed, referred to as “Dad,” didn’t speak, only emitting a strange laugh.
The uncle on the other side spoke, “I’m Dad’s most favored son! I’ve been better than you since I was a child, admit it! The money should be mine, not a single cent for you!”
His wife chimed in, “Exactly! You gamble too, you spent all your wife’s money and now you’re asking Dad for money, have you no shame?!”
Qin Xian turned to look at An Baixin.
An Baixin immediately lowered her head. A flicker of anger flashed in her eyes, but she clutched her clothes tightly and remained silent.
“Nonsense! I’m talking about inheritance! How many times have you visited while Dad was sick?! How much money did you spend? It was all us taking care of him!”
“You taking care of him? You didn’t visit the hospital that many times either, it was An Baixin who took care of him, wasn’t it?”
“As a daughter-in-law, she should take care of both elders. I have to work. And my wife also helped out, so it counts as our side, right?”
The three began to argue and scuffle, the black tumors secreting mucus, almost engulfing their entire bodies.
But they paid no attention, their minds solely focused on the inheritance.
Qin Xian leaned against the wall, watching the spectacle with great interest.
Too bad there were no sunflower seeds for sale here; otherwise, he would definitely have snacked on some.
Finally, An Baixin’s husband reached out to the “father” on the bed and shouted, “Dad! You can’t be so biased, tell me your bank card password! And the family’s collectibles, where did you put them!?”
As his hand grabbed the “father’s” neck, the tumors on his hand began to merge with the monster on the bed. Within a few breaths, his entire arm had fused into it.
Facing this situation, he didn’t struggle at all and continued to persuade his father to give him the inheritance.
An Baixin’s husband’s mouth, which was muttering about money, was stretched and pressed against the “father’s” cheek, looking like a kiss.
Qin Xian clicked his tongue twice. The scene was both strange and spectacular.
The uncle and aunt on the other side of the bed were not to be outdone. They grabbed the “father’s” arm and shouted, “Dad, you love me the most! Your things must be for me, right? Hurry and tell me the password. Don’t give it to brother, he’ll squander it all away!”
“Yes, Dad! We didn’t visit you much because we were too busy. And Sister-in-law took care of you, she’s so considerate, we couldn’t help her anyway!”
The few bickered incessantly, slowly merging together.
Qin Xian looked down at An Baixin, who was biting her lip and hugging herself, and casually handed something in front of her.
An Baixin looked and saw a sharp surgical knife. She didn’t know when this man had gotten it.
“Here, for me?” she asked in surprise.
Qin Xian directly thrust the surgical knife into her hand and pointed at the “father” on the bed, saying, “This should be the main BOSS. It’s not very difficult to handle. I don’t need this knife, but you can use it for self-defense.”
“Thank you…” An Baixin took the surgical knife, retreated a bit, giving Qin Xian more space, and tried to shrink into a corner.
Seeing her retreat, the “father” on the bed, who had been motionless, suddenly raised his hand tremblingly and let out a hoarse, elderly voice, “An Baixin, An Baixin, my urine bag is full, come and empty it for me quickly! And my leg needs to be wiped, come quickly!”
An Baixin recoiled in fear, unable to help but shout, “No! I don’t want to take care of you!”
“You are my daughter-in-law! You must take care of me!”
“Then why don’t you let your son take care of you!? Why not your other daughter-in-law!? You always treated me poorly and made things difficult for me, why aren’t you dead yet! Just die quickly!!” An Baixin hugged her head, and black tumors began to appear on her fingers.
Enraged by her words, the monster on the bed finally moved. The mouth on its face split open, and a black-red tongue like a spring rope shot out and wrapped around An Baixin.
With a “snap,” Qin Xian knocked the tongue to the ground with a bone.
“I can deal with this thing more quickly, but there’s one thing I need to make clear to you. This domain has a strong connection to you. If you can’t fight back and change your mindset, you’ll be haunted by nightmares for the rest of your life, and you’ll die within a year,” Qin Xian said, swinging his arms a couple more times to bat away the tongue that lunged at them again.
“Change… my mindset?” An Baixin repeated the word, looking at Qin Xian in confusion.
Qin Xian made eye contact with her for a moment, then turned away indifferently, showing no intention of continuing to be a life coach.
“An Baixin, An Baixin… I want honey water! An Baixin, why aren’t you coming yet! An Baixin!!”
“An Baixin, didn’t you hear Dad?! Serve him well and the inheritance will be mine. Hurry up and go!”
“An Baixin, help me wipe myself!”
Listening to the monster on the bed’s roars, An Baixin finally couldn’t take it anymore. “Get lost! Let your son serve you! I don’t want to tolerate this anymore! I don’t want to wait for you to die for me to be free. You family are all weirdos! Lunatics! I want a divorce, I want to leave your family. Of course, before I leave, I’ll take everything that should be mine!”
“How dare you!!” Four mouths on the bed shouted simultaneously. “What kind of daughter-in-law are you! If you dare to leave, no one will want you!”
“Hahaha, I’d rather live with a dog than with trash like you!” An Baixin tightly gripped the surgical knife and slashed fiercely at the tongue that was coiling towards her.
Qin Xian moved half a step to the side, giving her a slightly approving look.
Indeed, living with a dog would be more comfortable.
