    Chapter 61: Protecting His Wife

“Pei Du, it seems I’ve never really had a mother.”

Sheng Yiguang’s voice choked with sobs, and his tears fell onto Pei Du’s neck, scorching a hole in his heart. Inside that hole was an out-of-control kaleidoscope, spinning with dazzling bursts of light and bottomless shadows.

“bb, you still have me.” Pei Du gently stroked Sheng Yiguang’s hair. “What you lack compared to others, I will make up for you.”

Sheng Yiguang’s heart trembled fiercely. He buried himself in Pei Du’s embrace and hugged him tightly.

The bar was dimly lit, and scantily clad dancers were showing off their figures on the pole, drawing cheers from the men below.

Zhao Xicai led Pei Du through the side door of the bar, bypassing the dance floor, and went directly to a private room in the back.

“It’s quite a coincidence, actually. It just so happened that he was in our place. They heard he was the person you wanted, so they detained him to play with. He’s already lost thirty.”

    Thirty hundred thousand.

“He doesn’t have the money to pay, so the guys have already tied him up.”

As Zhao Xicai spoke, he pushed open the door to the private room.

The inside was completely different from the liveliness outside.

The moment the door closed, the bar’s commotion and debauchery were shut out.

A deathly silence filled the room.

Hu Jiawei was bound hand and foot, a rag stuffed in his mouth, blindfolded, and forced to kneel on the ground.

Pei Du’s gaze, devoid of warmth, swept over him. “Have you notified his family to come get him?”

    Zhao Xicai: “We have.”

Hearing this exchange, Hu Jiawei immediately reacted. He had just straightened his body when someone kicked him to the ground, face first.

    “Behave yourself!”

His teeth cut through the inner wall of his mouth, and blood immediately filled his mouth.

The blood stained the white cloth gag red.

Hu Jiawei fell to the ground, trembling in pain, and didn’t dare make another sound.

Pei Du didn’t even glance at him. He crossed his long legs, stepped over the coffee table, and sat down in the soft sofa, leaning back lazily as if taking a rest.

After a while, the door to the private room was pushed open.

The bar’s waiter said respectfully, “The person has arrived.”

Yin Xue stood at the door of the private room. She took a quick glance and saw Hu Jiawei, who had been kicked to the ground and was unable to struggle.

    Her face instantly turned pale.

    “What’s going on?”

The man behind Hu Jiawei threw out more than a dozen IOUs.

“Madam, if you don’t have money at home, don’t let your husband come out to play. Now that he owes so much money, how are you going to pay it back?”

Yin Xue saw the IOUs scattered on the ground, her mind buzzing. She quickly picked them up and roughly added up the amounts.

    Several hundred thousand.

She threw the IOUs away in fright. “I don’t have any money.”

“No money? Okay, then you and your husband can go to Southeast Asia on the ship tonight. You can come home when you’ve earned enough money there to pay us back.”

Yin Xue looked horrified and turned to run, but a tall, burly bodyguard blocked her way.

Yin Xue said anxiously, “He’s the one who gambled! It has nothing to do with me!”

Hearing this, Hu Jiawei immediately struggled again, whimpering and sobbing, but it was impossible to understand what he was saying, although you could feel that he was cursing obscenities.

Hu Jiawei lost his job, and his wife was earning money online by twisting her waist.

    He was mocked and ridiculed.

He couldn’t take it anymore and wanted to prove himself. He didn’t want Yin Xue to keep selling her body by dancing so he contacted a friend to introduce him to a job.

Who would have thought that he would fall into a gambling den and the money he lost would snowball, getting bigger and bigger.

If it wasn’t for her, he wouldn’t be in such a hurry to find a job!

She actually said it had nothing to do with her!

    This bitch! Slut!

Yin Xue didn’t care about Hu Jiawei and was only focused on running away. Looking at the bodyguard blocking her way, she screamed shrilly, “This is completely illegal and illegitimate! You’re deliberately setting us up! I’m going to call the police!”

The bodyguard’s expression was calm. “If you want to call the police, go ahead.”

The calmer he was, the more panicked Yin Xue became. She turned and knelt on the ground, hitting Hu Jiawei repeatedly.

“Are you trying to die! You were doing so well at home, why did you run out and incur so much debt? I’m telling you, this is your debt, it has nothing to do with me. We’re getting a divorce now! Now! Immediately!”

Hearing this, Hu Jiawei struggled and whimpered even more fiercely.

“Madam, it’s too late to run now. This is your marital debt, and also, you’re saying this in front of your husband. Do you think he’ll ever let you off?”

    Yin Xue’s mind buzzed. “I…”

From a dark corner of the private room, a cold laugh echoed.

Yin Xue looked in the direction of the sound.

The man on the sofa sat languidly, his eyebrows and eyes handsome, his bearing noble and indescribable. His eyes were deep and bottomless, like a deep well.

Yin Xue immediately realized that this person was the big boss here. She hurriedly went forward, putting on the affected and ingratiating manner she used when she was facing the big spenders during her livestreams.

“Boss, can you please be merciful and let us go? If you’re willing, how about I dance for you?”

Someone in the private room chuckled.

The mockery and disdain were undisguised.

Pei Du raised his eyes and looked at Yin Xue. “It wouldn’t be good.”

Yin Xue’s heart sank. She felt a little lost. “Then what would make it good? I really can’t afford to pay so much money. How about I let my son pay?”

As soon as she said those words, the temperature in the private room dropped several degrees.

Zhao Xicai closed his eyes, unable to bear to look.

She could have said anything, but she had to step on someone’s landmine.

Pei Du laughed, but the eyes that reflected the lights of the private room had no warmth. As he stood up, he reached out his hand.

Immediately, someone placed a dagger in his palm.

The others in the private room dragged Hu Jiawei over and pinned him to the coffee table, spreading his hands and fixing them to the surface.

Hu Jiawei didn’t know what was going to happen and struggled in terror.

    Pei Du spun the dagger.

The light of the blade swirled between his fingers.

“Bring her over and make her watch.”

Immediately, a bodyguard stepped forward, pushed Yin Xue to the coffee table, and made her face-to-face with Hu Jiawei. She clearly saw Hu Jiawei’s pale, sweaty, and twitching face, contorted with fear.

    Fear spread to her.

“We, we’ll pay the money, we’ll find a way to pay it back, please don’t do anything rash.”

    “Rash?”

Pei Du smiled. Suddenly, the dagger was thrust hard into the space between Hu Jiawei’s fingers, right in front of Yin Xue.

Yin Xue screamed and almost fainted in fright. She wanted to stand up and run, but the person behind her grabbed her by the back of her neck and slammed her face into the cold tabletop.

Pei Du’s tone was leisurely. “Look how measured I am, I haven’t hurt anyone. How can that be considered rash?”

    Yin Xue’s legs were trembling.

    “What do you want?”

Pei Du pulled the knife out of the table, and the knife spun around his fingers again.

The swirling light of the blade filled Yin Xue with terror.

Pei Du: “I forgot to introduce myself. I’m your son’s boyfriend.”

Yin Xue was stunned, her eyes gradually widening.

Pei Du smiled at her, although he was smiling, there was no friendliness, no gentleness in his eyes, only bone-chilling coldness.

“I heard you had him ask me for money?”
