AM Chapter 37
by BLReads37 Catching a Mistress
“Waaah, Jingren-ge… I’m scared…”
“I heard that during storms, high-rise buildings shake and sway like during earthquakes…”
“And my balcony is so big and wide, with only a sliding glass door separating it from the living room. What if debris gets blown up and smashes it, and my place is exposed to wind and rain? How am I supposed to sleep, waaaah…”
Liang Jingren on the other end of the phone was speechless, telling him not to sleep in the living room but to sleep in the bed in the bedroom.
Chen Mo continued to play the victim while clutching his phone, deliberately creating sobbing sounds, saying he just wanted to find a lower floor to take shelter and would leave as soon as the storm was over.
“Then go stay in a hotel,” Liang Jingren said.
Chen Mo refuted indignantly, “Doesn’t staying in a hotel cost money? Hotels are so expensive!”
“Then find a cheaper one…”
“Can’t you be a little more frugal!?”
“…”
On the other end of the line, Liang Jingren was truly exasperated, mentally screaming: TMD, back when he was studying abroad to avoid him, he didn’t go home and stayed in star-rated hotels for days, and now he’s talking about frugality?!
“Fine, you want to go back to the Villa, right? Fine!” How could Liang Jingren not guess what this little brat he had been watching over for four or five years wanted to do? He simply agreed, too lazy to argue with Chen Mo. “Anyway, I haven’t had time to change the password yet. Go if you want, but let me know before you go, and when you leave too! I’ll let you stay for two days! If it’s longer than two days, I’ll call the police!”
In less than two seconds, Chen Mo’s grateful, joyful, and excited voice came through the receiver: “Thank you, Jingren-ge! I love you the most!”
Liang Jingren: …
Sigh.
Oh well, at worst, I just won’t go back those two days, so I don’t have to face him… Maybe I should go back after work today and move the bedding to the company? Liang Jingren thought.
With Liang Jingren’s permission, Chen Mo’s return to the Villa couldn’t be considered illegal trespassing, and he no longer needed to sneak around—Liang Jingren had agreed!
He even started to feel more confident about planning to move back to the Villa in the future, with one outrageous idea after another uncontrollably growing in his mind like bacteria and viruses.
The storm warning was issued for a weekday. Except for some primary and secondary schools, most workplaces were still operating as usual. The colleagues next to Chen Mo’s workstation couldn’t see what kind of mischief he was thinking in his head, but they could tell from his expression: his mind was definitely not on work.
Perhaps someone was afraid of his weird smirk and took the opportunity to go to the bathroom to report him. Before long, the supervisor came over and cared for him with a paternal gaze and tone:
“Chen Mo, you’ve been working overtime quite hard recently, you must be tired, right? Why don’t you leave work early today and rest? They say there’s a storm coming today…”
As he spoke, the supervisor glanced towards the window. It wasn’t raining outside yet, but it was already cloudy, and in the dim sky, the strong wind blew the rows of treetops left and right, creating a dazzling green tsunami.
The colleagues in front of the workstation window leaned back in their swivel chairs, looking expectantly in this direction, trying to evoke even greater compassion from the supervisor.
Their supervisor was a soft-hearted god. Without anyone needing to ask, he straightened his back, clapped his hands, and decided, “The weather outside is too bad, affecting everyone’s mood for work. In that case, let’s all leave work early today!”
“Yay!!!!” Instantly, a series of monkey-like cries ran through the entire office.
However, just as the cheers subsided, a discouraging voice began to creep in: “But, but, if only our department leaves work early…”
Faced with the question, the supervisor confidently raised his head and patted his chest, guaranteeing, “We just finished a major project within the deadline a couple of days ago, creating huge benefits for the company! Who dares to disagree?”
Just like that, the entire department Chen Mo was in left work early. Chen Mo couldn’t even wait for the supervisor to finish speaking, and directly slung his bag over his shoulder and slipped out while everyone was cheering.
The car shuttled through the streets that were wider than usual during rush hour. Chen Mo happily hummed along with the music playing on the stereo, and even managed to occasionally spare a few glances to check if the gift box he placed on the passenger seat was crooked.
While waiting for a red light, he looked at his phone and found that with the smooth traffic, he would arrive at the Villa even earlier than expected. He then looked up at the opposite side of the road, where the traffic and crowds were obviously denser, and he could almost hear the noisy sounds even without lowering the car window—a large wet market.
Chen Mo thought: Although Liang Jingren is used to eating at the company, if I make a big table of delicious dishes in advance and put them on the table, he probably wouldn’t want to waste it, right?
The red light flashed, and fine, hair-like rain started to sway in the wind. Chen Mo made up his mind, shifted back into gear, and slowly stepped on the accelerator.
He thought, no matter how big the storm is, today is the day of his “long-awaited reunion” with Liang Jingren.
As bags of seafood, meat, and vegetables were stuffed into the trunk, dense raindrops began to grow larger.
Although Chen Mo brought an umbrella, the distance from the trunk to the driver’s seat was only a few steps, so he chose to dash directly over.
The residual warmth of the car’s air conditioning felt especially cool in this weather. Coupled with the fact that his shoulder was wet, Chen Mo was startled by a chill as soon as he sat down.
But this did not affect his happy mood at the moment.
Before starting the car, Chen Mo looked again at the photos and messages he had sent to Liang Jingren of the groceries he had bought. Although Liang Jingren had not replied yet, his heart was already full of anticipation.
The front window of the car was attacked by large raindrops with “pochi pochi” sounds, but Chen Mo had no fear or intention of retreating. The worse the weather and road conditions, the more he maintained his focus, held the steering wheel tightly, and looked ahead, maintaining a relatively even speed all the way.
Finally, after he successfully entered the Villa area and parked the car in the garage next to the Villa, the wind lessened, and the rain also diminished.
Heaven was helping him, saving him the trouble of holding an umbrella.
Chen Mo happily carried bags of fresh dinner ingredients, with the gift box wrapped in plastic bags to protect it tucked under his arm, and walked out of the garage lightly as if stepping and leaping.
Gradually, his pace slowed down.
Chen Mo discovered that the Villa was actually lit.
Is Liang Jingren at the Villa? he thought.
Chen Mo’s heart began to pound nervously. He thought it was because he hadn’t seen the other person for too long that he felt this way. But he also couldn’t easily dispel the lewd images in his mind—
What if Liang Jingren had braved the rain to come home and was taking a shower right now? After he entered the house, what kind of image would Liang Jingren, rushing out of the bathroom in a fluster, appear before him in?
Chen Mo was both excited and thrilled, with a hint of apprehension in his heart.
After all, the other person was Liang Jingren, the Liang Jingren who could punch him into a panda eye, so he had to hide his little thoughts and be cautious with his words.
After hesitating several times, Chen Mo did not ring the doorbell. He entered the familiar password while holding a bunch of things that hindered his movements, and then the door opened.
There was indeed someone in the Villa. That person happened to be coming down from the second-floor railing, and was wiping the wet ends of his shoulder-length hair with a towel hanging around his neck.
“You’re back? Why so early? Did the rain stop outside?”
But what entered his ears and eyes were not the voice and image he had imagined.
The smile on his face and the joyful anticipation in his heart vanished in an instant, and the words “slut” repeatedly assaulted his rain-soaked brain.
The man wearing Liang Jingren’s usual loose T-shirt as pajamas also froze for a moment, “Chen Mo?” and then called out his name in surprise.
“Why are you here?” The Yu-named person’s naturally upturned smiling lips rose when he spoke, full of provocation.
Chen Mo was not convinced, so he smiled as well, smiling like a mental patient pretending to be normal, eyes wide and mouth stretched wide, unnatural.
“Ah… I also want to ask… Why are you here?” Chen Mo said with a smile.
The other person smiled, really laughed out loud, “Hehehe~ Chen Mo, little brother, I am the owner of this house, isn’t it only natural to be here?”
“Is that so?” Chen Mo carried the bags covered in water droplets inside, and the door behind him closed automatically. “I remember this house belongs to Liang Jingren, why are you calling yourself the owner?”
The Yu-named person didn’t deny his words, but stood at the stairwell, not knowing what he was smug about. He was both flicking that hair that still had moisture after being washed and playing with the Liang Jingren-scented pajamas that were too loose for him, sighing lightly, “I went to the reservoir to catch a big fish today, thinking of making a whole fish feast for Ah Ren, but I got caught in a rainstorm, and before I could send him a message, I ran into you, you blind fellow, such a buzzkill…”
“Haha…” Chen Mo laughed.
“What are you laughing at?” The Yu-named person lowered his brow, watching him closely with vigilance. “This house is Ah Ren’s, I can come and go as I please, but what about you? What kind of relationship do you have with him? You are trespassing now, I can call the police and arrest you at any time!”
He said that I have no relationship with Liang Jingren, haha, he said that I have no relationship with Liang Jingren?
…
Chen Mo’s eyes, opened as wide as possible, were covered with red blood vessels. He stopped talking, only silently put down the gift box, and clenched the heavy plastic bags he was carrying tightly in both hands.
Then—he swung them up and charged forward.
A flash of lightning streaked across the sky, and the conference room suddenly turned white for a moment. Everyone’s gaze on the long table shifted from the stack of papers covered in words in their hands.
Liang Jingren, sitting in the boss chair in the center of the long table, was brought back to his senses by the continuous vibration of the phone on the table. He frowned as he looked at the name displayed on the screen.
After thinking for a moment, he raised his hand to greet the speaker who had turned away from the window and answered the phone.
Boom… rumble… rumble…
It was thundering outside. At the same time, Liang Jingren’s eardrums and brain were also thundering—
“Liang Jingren!! Your son is trying to kill me!!”
