    45 Leisurely

On Sunday, Liang Jingren didn’t go out either. In the morning, he went to the garage, and came back with a large pair of shears to prune the branches and grass in the small courtyard. In the afternoon, he sat on the long sofa in the living room, listening to music on his phone.

Chen Mo, who had been observing him, quietly walked behind him after he had been scrolling through his phone for two consecutive hours, peering over the top of the sofa to see what was on his phone.

“Don’t you have your own phone?” Liang Jingren felt someone behind him, but didn’t turn around.

Chen Mo saw that he was watching a movie commentary video on his phone, and retorted instead of answering, “Why not just watch the movie?”

Liang Jingren was silent for a while, and said, “It’s a terrible movie.”

Hearing this, Chen Mo was also silent for a moment, and then laughed, “Why are you watching a commentary on a bad movie?”

“I want to see how bad it is.” As Liang Jingren spoke, the screen showed a disgusting, meaningless vomiting scene, and he frowned slightly.

“Can’t you find something meaningful to do?” Chen Mo put his hand on Liang Jingren’s shoulder, and said while massaging his shoulders.

Liang Jingren finally shifted his gaze from the phone. He turned his head and asked, “What is something meaningful?”

Chen Mo was stumped by this question. Although countless Gaokao essay-style answers flashed through his mind, he couldn’t accurately grasp any one to answer Liang Jingren.

Because his intention was not to discuss anything sublime with Liang Jingren.

“Why not go ride a motorcycle?” Chen Mo stopped massaging Liang Jingren’s shoulders, leaning his entire body forward and pressing against the back of the sofa. His outstretched arms fell in front of Liang Jingren, loosely but firmly encircling the person on the sofa with his fingers interlaced.

Liang Jingren didn’t pull his hand away, and only calmly replied, “I’m tired.”

To Chen Mo, this sounded as unbelievable as “I’m old.”

“Just tired today, or tired all the time?” Chen Mo asked.

Liang Jingren smiled and said, “Just tired today.”

    Chen Mo also smiled.

“Even though it’s been a week, it still feels like I just got back from a business trip. Everything feels awkward…” As he spoke, Liang Jingren stretched.

Chen Mo tactfully let go of his hands around him and stepped back.

After Liang Jingren put down his arms, he turned around and called him, “Come sit here.”

Chen Mo was flattered, and quickly went around the long sofa to sit next to him.

There were a few pieces of candy on the fruit plate on the coffee table, and two candy wrappers, all eaten by Liang Jingren.

As soon as Chen Mo sat down, he heard Liang Jingren say, “They’re cracking down hard now, there are speed cameras everywhere, I can’t get any speed up, it’s no fun to drive.”

“Some sections of the road actually have pretty wide speed limits, but I don’t know if motorcycles are allowed… What if you drive right on the line?” Chen Mo asked curiously.

“That would be too much of a test for me.” Liang Jingren sighed with a smile.

Suddenly, he turned his head to look at Chen Mo, who was sitting next to him almost touching his arm, and asked, “Speaking of which, don’t you have a motorcycle license? When are you going to take the test? Did you test drive at Jiang Jinhao’s place last time? You were driving without a license?”

Chen Mo blinked rapidly, and clasped his hands together with a “slap,” “Brother Ren, please don’t report me!”

“Pfft, haha~” Liang Jingren couldn’t help laughing at his appearance, and said, “Be careful not to drag boss Jiang into this. They’re really cracking down hard now, you should hurry up and get your license.”

Chen Mo pursed his lips, straightened his upper body, looked at him and said, “If I get my license, can I drive with you?”

“Of course!” Liang Jingren said readily.

But Chen Mo said, “But I’d rather sit on the back of your bike~”

Liang Jingren blinked and said, “You need a license to sit on the back of my bike too.”

Chen Mo’s eyes sharpened, and he promised, “Don’t worry, Brother Ren, I’ll get it within a month!”

After that, the two sat on the sofa and watched a movie to pass the time—Liang Jingren used the remote control to turn on the big screen TV. The movie was chosen by Chen Mo, and it was said to be a universally acclaimed masterpiece.

The TV screen showed the film censorship code and the logos of the investment and production companies. Before the movie started, Liang Jingren suddenly remembered something, and he reminded Chen Mo, “I know you don’t like to go out, but I still have to remind you, don’t go to nightclubs or bars lately. Go straight home after work if you don’t have anything to do.”

“Huh?” Chen Mo put on a pure look, tilted his head, and leaned on the shoulder of the person next to him, “Why?”

Chen Mo eagerly thought, is Liang Jingren starting to care about him, starting to get jealous?

Liang Jingren said, “Shen Qing sent me a message saying that Liang Jingyu went to see him.”

    “What?”

“Liang Jingyu is inquiring about you.”

    “Liang… your brother?”

    “Yeah.”

Chen Mo remembered—that “Yu-named” jerk who was actually surnamed Liang.

The jerk’s smiling lips and sarcastic words surged from his memory. The moment they did, Chen Mo’s straightened body suddenly tensed up, and the expression on his face became ferocious.

Fortunately, Liang Jingren patted his head, pulling him back from his daze.

Awakened, Chen Mo turned his head blankly, staring at Liang Jingren, who was looking at him with a worried expression. He thought: That’s right, speaking of which, he should be thankful to that guy for being able to get closer to Brother Ren again, and the relationship between the two seemed to have undergone a leap-like transformation.

After Liang Jingren came back from his business trip, Chen Mo clearly felt that his attitude towards him was not only relaxed and softened, but completely different from before.

Thinking this way, perhaps something new happened to Liang Jingren during his business trip? Chen Mo thought, yes, he should add less drama to that jerk, he’s not worth it.

“Heh! Still holding a grudge after half a month!” Chen Mo sneered, “Is your brother amazing? Do I have to guard against him? Is he the boss of the Black Society?”

    “Yeah.” Liang Jingren nodded.

“Ah?” Chen Mo was stunned, thinking he had seen or heard wrong.

“He kind of is.” Liang Jingren nodded again, “He was only released a few years ago when you were studying abroad.”

    “…”

“His legs aren’t good now, he probably can’t beat you in a one-on-one fight, but your Strong Bro, Jing Bro, and Shen Bro all listen to Liang Jingyu.”

    “…”

“Be careful when you go out, try not to be alone.”

Chen Mo gradually sorted out the relationships, matching the burly shadows in his mind with the brothers Liang Jingren mentioned. Then, he tremblingly opened his mouth: “Brother Ren…”

    “Yeah?”

“You won’t let me face him again, right?” Chen Mo gently tugged at Liang Jingren’s sleeve, smiling bitterly and aggrieved, “You will protect me, right?”

Liang Jingren seemed to be teasing him, saying nothing, only looking at him, twitching the corners of his mouth, and shrugging his shoulders.

Chen Mo thought he could trick him into a promise. He pouted unhappily, muttering softly: “Tch, this is a society ruled by law, what can he do to me…” The loathing and displeasure towards Liang Jingyu were far greater than fear.

“I originally thought Brother Ren was the boss of Strong Bro and the others.” Chen Mo said unconvincingly, “Looking at it this way, it’s that guy…”

“Yeah,” Liang Jingren nodded, “Strong Bro and the others have always recognized Liang Jingyu.”

However, Chen Mo didn’t want to say this, but rather: “That’s the guy who led you astray!”

“Ah?” Liang Jingren was stunned, his mind not turning for a moment.

Chen Mo hugged his arm and moved closer to him, his eyes resolutely meeting his, and said, “If you didn’t have such an outrageous, gang-affiliated brother, you wouldn’t have been negatively influenced and subtly become a street thug who skipped class and fought!”

Liang Jingren was directly stunned by his statement. He didn’t expect Chen Mo to trust him so much.

Chen Mo even said that the first time he saw him, he thought he wasn’t a good person.

    “It’s not like that…”

Liang Jingren turned his head, his gaze as lonely and distant as if it wanted to penetrate the TV in front of him.

As Chen Mo waited for him to continue speaking, he seemed to be lost in memories, not saying a word.

Just as Chen Mo was about to shake him, the ultra-bass speakers installed outside the TV suddenly sounded a powerful and magnificent background music, and the first climax of the film began.

Finally, Liang Jingren, who had come back to his senses, only touched his head and said, “Let’s watch the movie,” ending the conversation.

Chen Mo’s first weekend with Liang Jingren after returning to the villa was spent so leisurely.
