Chapter 13: If You See Something You Shouldn’t…

Annie, sweating profusely, quickly responded, “Oh my, it seems our student Qin is very thorough! The product selection was an oversight on our part. We’ll investigate immediately. This item can no longer be sold.”

As she spoke, she removed the product from the table, taking it out of the camera’s view.

“Please rest assured, everyone. We would never sell you counterfeit or shoddy products. Babies, as you can see, we’re handling it immediately and won’t be listing it again. We have a conscience, but unfortunately, our product selection control was not strict this time. Annie apologizes to everyone here.”

With that, she bowed solemnly in apology.

Admittedly, her handling of the situation was far more skillful than the male streamer they had encountered outside earlier. It could potentially retain some viewers and even shape her persona as someone who corrects mistakes and doesn’t profit unconscionably. While some fans would undoubtedly be lost, her account was at least saved. However, selling goods tonight was out of the question.

Annie lost the mood for live-streaming and said with a smile, “Then tonight’s live stream will be a chat session. Let’s have a chat with our handsome young man, Qin Yi.”

After speaking, she turned and walked away. Before leaving, she glared fiercely at a spot where the camera couldn’t see, “Stream well, or you’re dead.”

Leaving a verbal threat, she strode away in her high heels, exiting the room directly.

The comments in the live stream, however, were more numerous than at the beginning. The excitement that had unfolded was far more interesting than a sales stream. Many viewers who were there for the spectacle stayed, and began asking Qin Xian and Huang Quxie questions via bullet comments.

【The little brother is so handsome, is he not using beauty filters? I don’t believe it.】

Qin Xian had no intention of streaming properly and casually replied, “Oh, I am. All of them.”

【So you are using them? But why doesn’t it look like it? If you’re using them, why is the person next to you so dark? Is he Black?】

    Huang Quxie: “…”

He usually got too much sun, so he was indeed dark, what was wrong with that? But he was clearly well-featured, tall and muscular, and his wife even praised him for making her feel super safe!

【Hahaha, Huang Er is speechless. You’re handsome too. I love muscular older men like you. Want to wipe me down?】

Huang Quxie caught sight of this comment. “Thank you, Guagua123, for calling me handsome. But what do you mean by ‘wipe’?”

Qin Xian couldn’t help but chuckle.

Huang Quxie immediately became more animated and turned to Qin Xian, “Hey! You’re laughing at me, aren’t you? Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because you’re good-looking.”

Qin Xian’s expression instantly became blank, and he didn’t reply. But his smile was still captured by netizens.

    【Whoa, so good-looking! Even I, a man, find him a bit attractive.】

【Little brother Qin Yi, are you dating?】

【What’s the handsome guy’s height? What’s his zodiac sign? How old is he? What are his hobbies? What kind of clothes do you like to see me wear?】

    Qin Xian: “…”

    【Sigh, such a good-looking guy, but unfortunately he doesn’t talk.】

【Don’t try to build a cold, aloof persona. You’re live-streaming, what’s with the aloofness? Annoying.】

    Qin Xian: “…”

Huang Quxie glanced at Qin Xian, wanting to see what he would do. To his surprise, the handsome guy’s attention had drifted to outside the window, as if he were listening to a conversation from there. Wasn’t he supposed to be learning how to stream? This attitude didn’t seem right.

Seeing that some people in the comment section were starting to get dissatisfied, Huang Quxie had no choice but to take on all the burden himself and began to use his wit to banter with the netizens.

Qin Xian’s attention became increasingly focused on the door. He vaguely heard Annie calling Aunt Zhou and complaining to her.

“Aunt Zhou! Where did you find these people? You’ve ruined me!”

“What? What’s the big fuss? Have you completed your quota for this month? You know the consequences if you haven’t, right?”

“I… I know. I’ll complete it… But these two newcomers are about to destroy my live stream! They started by saying the products were problematic, directly causing a live-streaming accident. I can’t sell anything tonight, I have to take it down…”

“…Is that so? Let me enter the live stream and see what’s going on. After the stream ends, bring them both to my office.”

“Okay, Aunt Zhou. These newcomers are so ignorant, you must punish them well. Also… I didn’t manage to sell anything tonight, can you be a little lenient with my quota?”

“Impossible. You can stream again at midnight. Just switch to a different product.”

“Aunt Zhou, I’ve already been live for sixteen consecutive hours…”

“Don’t talk nonsense with me! Get lost!”

“Damn it, damn it, damn it! If I don’t complete my quota, will I be sent back to the suggestive content group? I finally managed to climb my way to the sales group… Those two bastards, I should send them to the beggar group!”

Listening to Annie’s curses, Qin Xian successfully obtained a piece of useful information. This live-streaming factory seemed to have different groups and levels. The sales group appeared to be a group with good treatment, while the beggar group was the worst. The live-streaming content of each group was also easy to guess. The suggestive content group was likely for suggestive or even pornographic live streams. The beggar group… was probably for those who, whether true or false, used their disabilities or critical illnesses to elicit sympathy from netizens for profit. The client’s brother might be in this group, and this group was undoubtedly the most dangerous place.

With this in mind, Qin Xian became even more indolent, leaning back comfortably in his chair and interacting with netizens as he pleased. When he was thirsty, he walked out of the screen to get water. When he was hungry, he stuffed snacks into his mouth, practically wearing “passive resistance” on his forehead.

Huang Quxie’s lips were getting sore from talking, and his throat was dry. Glancing back and seeing Qin Xian so leisurely, he also lost the desire to continue.

“I want water and snacks too! I want to slack off too!”

He threw a sentence to the audience and also ran out of the screen to bring back two bottles of water and a pile of drinks. He started eating on stream.

However, all this commotion somehow made the live stream even more lively.

【Good heavens, a slacking streamer. Following. This is exactly like my work attitude.】

【This is so interesting. Will it be you guys tomorrow? I’ll follow if it is.】

【Qin Yi, Qin Yi, I’m sending you a gift. Say something!】

    Qin Xian: “…”

What were netizens’ preferences now? Why did more people watch the stream when they did this? But he didn’t want to help this live stream gain followers.

“You guys chat, I’m going to the restroom. It’ll probably take a while, over half an hour.”

After saying that, he stood up under Huang Quxie’s stunned gaze and directly pushed the door open.

Huang Quxie was dumbfounded. This was too much freedom! But he was full of admiration. The courage to quit when dissatisfied with work was truly admirable for a laborer… But it was so boring to do a monologue in the live stream by himself. Huang Quxie looked at the screen, then at the door, and finally ended the stream with a string of question marks in the comment section.

“Hey, what are you doing!? Are you crazy!” The man guarding the door immediately yelled in anger.

“There are still two hours until the stream ends, and you’re just turning it off. If the account loses followers, what will you compensate with? Damn it! You don’t know the rules, do you? I’ll kill you!!” The man furiously rolled up his sleeves and lunged directly at Qin Xian’s face.

Just as Qin Xian was about to make a move, Huang Quxie behind him rushed out first, his imposing physique completely blocking Qin Xian. The opponent’s fist hit his chest, but he didn’t make a sound. Instead, he clenched his fist and pushed against the man’s hand, forcing him back two steps.

Huang Quxie said in a low voice, “What are you doing? Want to fight?”

The man, looking at Huang Quxie, who was at least two heads taller than him, cautiously retreated. His fist was numb, but the other person was completely fine.

“Damn it, you guys remember this. As long as you want to make a living here, I won’t let you have an easy time.” The man grumbled resentfully and grudgingly moved aside.

But Annie suddenly appeared at the doorway, her heavy makeup making her look like a ghost in the dim light. Her sharp voice rang out, “Heh heh, they won’t have an easy time. Aunt Zhou wants me to take you to her office.”

Seeing this, the man’s face immediately lit up. “You’re in for trouble. I wish you a slower death, bye-bye.”

Qin Xian glanced at him sideways, his gaze making the man shiver and swallow the rest of his curses. Huang Quxie snorted and followed Qin Xian towards Aunt Zhou’s office.

Led by Annie, the two slowly ascended the stairs. From the third floor onwards, the villa’s decor changed, with opulent decorations and furniture everywhere. A red carpet was laid out in the middle of the stairs. The owner seemed to want to turn the villa into a European-style castle, but the villa’s stairs were not as grand as a castle’s. With the carpet, it looked more like a KTV corridor. However, it clearly revealed the owner’s personality: a nouveau riche with shallow insight and vanity. This nouveau riche was currently standing on the fourth floor, watching them. He had two more rings on his hands, but they still couldn’t hide the marks left from manual labor.

Annie was very afraid of Aunt Zhou, and after bringing the two there, she immediately left.

“Oh my, you two really know how to stir up trouble. Are you here to cause chaos?” Aunt Zhou asked with a chilling smile. “My first live stream, and you’ve already offended several bosses for me?”

Qin Xian returned a smile and calmly replied, “Aren’t I helping you? If you sell counterfeit and shoddy products, and the audience discovers they’ve been deceived, what happens if public opinion flares up online? Wouldn’t your reputation be ruined then?”

“Heh heh.” Aunt Zhou said with a fake smile, “Then will you compensate for the income from this live stream?”

Qin Xian replied, “I saw that the number of followers for that account increased by at least two thousand tonight. With more followers, won’t you earn more from subsequent sales? Don’t you know? Netizens nowadays like authentic personas.”

Aunt Zhou’s smile disappeared, and she stared at the two of them menacingly. After a long pause, she finally spoke, “Fine, then I’ll see how far you can go. If you two don’t sell eight million orders this month, I’ll have you try another type of live-streaming job.”

She then smiled again, revealing her yellow teeth. “Someone, take them to the dormitory. Oh, and don’t wander around the dormitory. Don’t look around or ask questions carelessly. If you see something you shouldn’t… you might not feel very comfortable…”

Live streaming nowadays is a chaotic mess, but it’s not just now; it has always been like this. This saved manuscript was stored from this time last year, hahaha [Dog head holding a rose]
