    Chapter 35: The Abuser’s Retribution

Qin Xian also raised his head slightly and sniffed. His nostrils indeed felt a bit of a sting, but his reaction wasn’t as intense as the Student Council President’s.

But… a subtle feeling suddenly emerged.

Qin Xian pointed downstairs and said, “Let’s go, we need to go down and help.”

The Student Council President paused, lowering the hand covering his nose. He looked nonchalant and said, “I don’t think it’s necessary. Listen, that female police officer is still directing operations down there. How could they not have gas masks in their mission packs? We two have no protection at all; going in will just make us cry and have runny noses. Do you want that?”

Qin Xian chuckled wickedly, “What if I ordered you to go down immediately?”

The Student Council President also laughed, “You’re so cruel, wanting to see me make a fool of myself. But who told you I like you?”

With that, he truly walked down the stairs, brushing past Qin Xian and continuing downwards.

Qin Xian watched him silently, observing that his chest didn’t even rise and fall.

This guy held his breath to avoid inhaling the irritant. Or perhaps, this guy didn’t need to breathe at all.

Before he could fully descend, Yuan Fengying and a few others rushed up from the smoke. Upon seeing Qin Xian, she immediately turned and fired a few shots downwards.

The President quietly retreated and walked back to Qin Xian’s side, smiling in a way that made one’s teeth itch.

Yuan Fengying’s voice came muffled from under her mask, “Be careful, there are eight of them. Each of them has a gun, but we’ve already taken two. Do you need them?”

“I don’t really know how to use one,” Qin Xian shook his head and looked at the Student Council President.

The Student Council President spread his hands, “I just turned eighteen.”

Qin Xian and Yuan Fengying were silent for a moment.

“Then I’ll stay behind. You guys be careful, they’re definitely going to…”

Before Yuan Fengying could finish, two whistling sounds tore through the air, and two bullets hit the window glass behind them, shattering it into pieces.

Several police officers immediately raised their shields, protecting Qin Xian and the Student Council President in the middle as they slowly retreated.

Six enemies quickly ascended the stairs, brandishing their weapons and closing in.

“Give up! You’re out of bullets, but we still have them, hahaha!” one of the enemies stepped forward with a laugh.

    “Bang!”

A gunshot rang out. Before he could get close, he looked in shock at a bloody hole that had appeared in his thigh.

    “Aghhh!”

    “They still have bullets! Shoot!”

The others immediately descended into chaos, raising their guns and attempting to pull the triggers, but a whip-like shadow flashed before their eyes. Their hands were immediately torn open, and their guns fell to the ground.

The police, shielding themselves, pushed several enemies to the wall and then pointed their guns at them.

With nowhere left to retreat, the men huddled together, their expressions grim.

“What do we do?! Brother Huang, don’t you have the thing the Cult Master gave us?!”

“They said this thing can’t be used unless absolutely necessary, and it has side effects…”

    “Is this not necessary?!”

Yuan Fengying frowned, “No moving! Drop your weapons, put your hands on your heads, and squat down! Otherwise…”

    “Yuan Fengying, fall back!”

“Damn it, we’ll kill you all!”

Brother Huang did something, and a black mist suddenly spread from him, accompanied by a foul odor.

Yuan Fengying immediately retreated, but something in the black mist left a deep gash on her arm.

Qin Xian was on high alert. He saw more than a dozen pairs of sinister green eyes light up in the black mist. More than a dozen cats appeared beside the enemies. However, these cats looked terrifying, clearly having been abused. Some had half of their limbs cut off, while others had their abdomens slit open with their insides exposed, a horrifying sight.

But Brother Huang, who summoned them, looked extremely pleased, “Hahaha! It’s real, I can really control ghosts! The Cult Master was right!”

His companions were only envious, “We did the same thing, why didn’t we get this ability?”

Brother Huang shot his companion a cold warning glance. He got up from the ground and commanded the cat monsters, “Go! Scratch them all to death!”

    “Meow…”

But the cat monsters, upon hearing his voice, didn’t attack the enemies. Instead, they turned their heads and stared at Brother Huang and his group with their green eyes.

An icy chill spread from the base of their spines to their scalps. Brother Huang’s face changed, “Go, go kill them! Listen to me!”

However, his voice seemed to activate the cat monsters’ nerves, making them instantly frenzied. They arched their bodies, their sharp claws leaving scratches on the ground, and suddenly lunged at Brother Huang and his group.

The first cat lunged directly at Brother Huang’s eyes. Before he could react, it clawed into his eye.

A bloody eyeball rolled onto the ground, even attracting the attention of another cat monster, which pawed at the eyeball as if it were a toy.

Brother Huang screamed and fell under the terrified gaze of his companions. The cat monsters, their ferocity ignited, flew around, splattering blood on the walls, even covering the students’ graffiti.

Yuan Fengying was stunned by the scene and looked at Qin Xian, “This…”

Qin Xian shook his head, “Can’t save them. If we go over now, we’ll be attacked too. This kind of revenge cannot be stopped.”

Yuan Fengying asked, “Did they abuse cats?”

Qin Xian’s expression was disgusted, “Uh-huh.”

“Then… shall we wait until they’re killed before going over?”

    “No, I’m afraid we’ll be fighting a mini-boss soon.”

    “What?”

Yuan Fengying turned her head to stare at the scene before them. Under the fierce attacks, the clothes of these cultists from the Path of Communicating with Ghosts had become tattered rags, and their limbs and bodies were covered in wounds where white bone was visible. Their blood vessels were being bitten out and torn, gushing out.

Their eyes were gouged out, their noses bitten off, and soon they could no longer even wail. After a few minutes, there was no more movement.

The cat monsters, tearing at human bodies, slowly stopped their actions, staring blankly at the scene… then, they dissolved into a pool of blood and merged with the corpses.

Qin Xian’s expression sharpened, “They’re coming.”

Yuan Fengying and the other police officers also prepared themselves.

Under their gaze, the corpses suddenly moved, emitting heart-wrenching screams from their throats. Immediately, iron skewers, chopsticks, needles, and blades shot out from their mouths, lower bodies, eyes, and various other parts. Their skin began to char and turn black, then flames erupted.

One police officer exclaimed, “My god! What is that thing?!”

Yuan Fengying reacted immediately, “Xun, Yu! You two protect the front! Everyone else, shoot! Be careful not to hit Mr. Qin!”

The now completely grotesque figures crawled up. With a flick of their hands, the iron skewers and blades flew out together.

The two police officers at the forefront immediately raised their shields, but the power of these blades and skewers was even greater than bullets. The iron skewers pierced directly through the shields, protruding slightly from the back.

“Damn…” a police officer’s hand was pierced with a small hole.

Qin Xian observed carefully. After these blades were shot out, new blades would grow from the original spots.

This meant they couldn’t exhaust their weapons like they did with the spider before.

Seeing this, Qin Xian said to Yuan Fengying, “I’ll go attract its attention, you try to see if headshots are effective.”

With that, he and the Student Council President charged out, one on each side. They stepped on the wall as if ignoring gravity and jumped to a higher position on the stairs.

    The grotesque beings all turned.

    “Bang bang bang!!”

Several gunshots rang out, and bullets passed through their heads, leaving bloody holes.

Qin Xian wiped some brain matter from his cheek. His whip wrapped around the grotesque being’s neck, and he forcefully yanked its entire head off.

However, the headless grotesque being did not fall. Its severed neck wriggled, and a cat head immediately regrew.

A bloody human body topped with a cat’s head. The cat’s head was severely rotten, but the half-ear on top twitched. This movement would be incredibly cute on a living kitten, but on this creature… it could only evoke revulsion in everyone present.

    “Bang bang!”

“Don’t stop! Keep shooting! Aim for other vital points!” Yuan Fengying shouted, holding her gun.

However, with the cat heads, the several grotesque beings seemed to have entered their second form, their agility completely different from before. The grotesque beings swung their bloody flesh and leaped, soaring nearly two meters into the air, directly into the shield formation.

Then, it immediately lunged at the stunned police officer with its claws.

At the critical moment, Qin Xian arrived and whipped it directly into the wall.

    “Meow!”

    “Meooowww!!”

The cat monster roared and got back up, charging with its five companions in a encircling formation.

Qin Xian increased the amplitude of his whip swings, the whip shadows flashing through the air. The grotesque beings were forced back by the whip before they could even get close.

The Student Council President, holding an iron rod he had dismantled from somewhere, launched a surprise attack from behind, inserting it into the back of one of the cat monsters. He then continued to apply force until the cat monster collapsed on the ground, at which point he hammered the rebar into the floor.

To prevent the cat monster from escaping, the Student Council President bent one end of the rebar with his bare hands.

    “Aaaahhh!”

The cat monster, pinned to the ground, screamed and struggled desperately.

Qin Xian immediately noticed the problem, “They are very afraid of being pierced by sharp objects! This might be related to how the cats were abused in life!”

Yuan Fengying and the others understood and immediately said, “We’ll try to stall with our shields! You guys go find sharp objects!”

The Student Council President said, “There’s an iron gate in the upstairs hallway.”

Qin Xian immediately rushed upstairs with him. As expected, an iron gate to prevent students from wandering in was installed in the middle of the hallway.

Some of the vertical bars on the iron gate were rusted. Qin Xian stepped forward and kicked it heavily a few times, and a rebar fell off.

He then smashed it on the ground a couple more times to deform and sharpen the tip. A useful sealing weapon appeared.

There were six cat monsters in total. The two of them quickly prepared the rebar and returned to the battlefield, only to see several police officers already injured.

    “You guys move aside!”

Qin Xian took a step back, charged forward, and jumped down from the ten-step staircase.

Yuan Fengying immediately moved aside. Qin Xian, braving the danger of being burned by flames, stomped on a cat monster and then forcefully drove the rebar into it.

He remained expressionless even as the protruding blades on the cat monster’s body scratched his hand.

“I’m sorry, but it’s better to end your suffering sooner.”
