ACIFITFDB – Chapter 42
by BLReadsChapter 42: Damn These Favoritism-Showing Brats…
“Ah, I’m not sure what exactly happened. I’m not a perfect person either, and I’ve definitely faced some setbacks.” Xun Guangfan’s eyes drifted, and his expression clearly indicated he was holding something back.
However, Qin Xian, who usually paid no attention to others’ private matters, pressed on, “If you were chosen to challenge an eldritch entity, you must be quite outstanding. Have you killed one before?”
Xun Guangfan clenched his right hand tightly and said self-deprecatingly, “No, it’s just that we’re short-handed right now. I haven’t killed an eldritch entity. How could an ordinary person like me be a match for one?”
Qin Xian nodded. “It seems that’s where your psychological shadow lies. I don’t know what you went through, but it’s normal for ordinary people to not be able to kill eldritch entities, so don’t blame yourself too much.”
“No.” Xun Guangfan shook his head, looking at Qin Xian. “If I had been decisive, I could have completely defeated it, but I was timid…”
“I see. It appears your momentary cowardice caused someone’s death. Was it a loved one, a friend, or a comrade?”
Qin Xian’s voice was exceptionally cold-blooded. He watched Xun Guangfan’s suddenly pale face and constricted pupils without a hint of sympathy.
Xun Guangfan didn’t understand. “Mr. Qin, what exactly are you trying to do? Honestly, I’m jealous of you. If only I had your abilities and mindset, I wouldn’t be afraid no matter how terrifying the eldritch entity was, and I’d have the ability to defeat it.”
Qin Xian chuckled. “How can anyone have such abilities from the start?”
Xun Guangfan said dejectedly, “I know. I’m sorry, Mr. Qin must have also experienced many terrifying things to gain his current strength. It’s just that I’m a bit obsessed. I can’t stop. If I had been a little more outstanding and had a better mindset back then, perhaps I could have prevented that eldritch entity from killing my neighbors, my friends, and my family. Why was I scared then? I should have just pulled out my gun! I’m such a damn good-for-nothing!”
“Mhmm. It seems my experiment was successful.”
Xun Guangfan was startled by Qin Xian’s words. He looked up with a wry smile, about to complain, when he saw Qin Xian pointing behind him.
He immediately turned his head and saw someone identical to him standing in the shadows, slowly raising a gun.
Xun Guangfan hurriedly shouted, “Be careful!”
The imposter ‘Xun Guangfan’ raised his gun and fired. Qin Xian agilely dodged, while Xun Guangfan scrambled to find cover.
Qin Xian avoided the bullet and shouted to the students in a commotion downstairs, “Don’t come up! It’s nothing serious.”
Xun Guangfan felt extremely confused by everything that was happening and asked anxiously, “Mr. Qin, what’s going on? What did you do?”
Qin Xian replied, “I was just trying to interpret the mindset of the deceased. It seems the condition for triggering death in this domain is self-negation.”
Xun Guangfan was impressed. “So you specifically brought me up here to dig into my wounds just to test this?”
He choked for a second and commented, “You’re really something else, truly… So what do we do now? Should we get rid of this imposter?”
“Since you created it, you should resolve it yourself.”
“Huh!?”
Qin Xian looked at Xun Guangfan, who had his eyes wide open, and kicked the charging imposter. However, his leg passed straight through the body of the imposter ‘Xun Guangfan’.
“See, you have to resolve it yourself.”
Xun Guangfan gritted his teeth and peeked out from behind the cover to shoot, but the imposter dodged it directly.
Qin Xian reminded him from the side, “This is also an eldritch entity, but besides not being as easy to kill, its abilities should be exactly the same as yours.”
If it’s not easy to kill, how is that the same?!
Xun Guangfan tried shooting again but found that the opponent, as if telepathically linked, stood up and raised their gun at the same time.
The next second, both of them froze and quickly retreated.
Qin Xian commented, “As expected, both are equally cowardly.”
Xun Guangfan was speechless.
This time, he wasn’t angry. Instead, he gained a hint from it. Since the opponent’s behavioral patterns were exactly the same as his, and their abilities were similar, perhaps it would be useful if he didn’t fight like himself.
Could he find a role model? Imitate Qin Xian? Forget it, he wasn’t familiar with him, and it would be impossible to imitate him anyway. It would be better to switch to Captain Yuan Fengying.
Captain Yuan was an elite who had been newly transferred to City A just last month. She wasn’t stationed at their police station, but she had trained all the police officers and soldiers in City A. She was a pure, all-around warrior.
Could he really be like her?
Qin Xian watched from the side, his expression indifferent as if he were uninvolved.
The imposter and the real person were both hiding behind a load-bearing column on the fourth floor, nervously watching each other’s movements with their guns raised. Just as Qin Xian was about to yawn from boredom, Xun Guangfan suddenly rushed out from behind the column. The imposter was stunned and immediately raised his gun, firing several shots at the rushing shadow. But upon closer inspection, he realized it was Xun Guangfan’s jacket that had been thrown.
Xun Guangfan himself crouched low and charged directly at the imposter.
After several shots, the imposter couldn’t dodge in time, his hand was smashed, and the gun fell at Qin Xian’s feet. But what sent a chill down Xun Guangfan’s spine was that the smashed hand was slowly regenerating.
He didn’t have such an ability!
Qin Xian spoke up, reminding him, “Aim for the head.”
Xun Guangfan instinctively obeyed, raising his gun to aim at the imposter’s vital area. But the guy had also received the hint. With his still-recovering hand, he grabbed the gun and forcefully broke Xun Guangfan’s fingers holding it.
“Ahhh!” Xun Guangfan screamed. The gun in his hand crashed to the ground and fell from the fourth floor.
He was disarmed!
“You still have your fists,” Qin Xian reminded him again.
Damn it! I’ll risk it!
A hint of madness flashed across Xun Guangfan’s pale face. He recalled the ferocity of Qin Xian, Yuan Fengying, and some elites from the processing center during their fights. What if his hand was broken? As long as he could still move, he would beat him first!
Qin Xian exclaimed, “Huo!” He watched as the kid, with strength from who knows where, leaped up, pinned the imposter to the ground, and began fiercely smashing his face with his fists.
The two quickly engaged in a close-quarters battle, fighting with raw fists and punches, from one end of the corridor to the other. However, the eldritch entity’s recovery speed was too fast, and Xun Guangfan was slowly falling into a disadvantage.
He panted heavily as he was brutally hit in the eye. In a dizzying blur, he saw Qin Xian mouth to him: Bite it to death.
Xun Guangfan roared, rushed forward, and tightly hugged the imposter. He opened his mouth wide and bit down hard on ‘his’ neck, tearing off flesh and blood from the neck. The imposter screamed, and his blood vessels and nerves were exposed.
Watching the gruesome scene, Xun Guangfan’s eyes turned red. He used his fingers to dig into those blood vessels and violently tore them apart. Arterial blood spurted out like pressurized tap water, staining the nearby wall red.
The imposter fell down with his mouth agape, turning into a pool of black mud and disappearing on the spot.
Xun Guangfan, covered in blood, collapsed on the ground, his eyes closing as he was about to pass out.
“Wait, I suggest you stand up and wash off the blood. You’re scaring people,” Qin Xian suddenly appeared and pulled him up from the ground.
Xun Guangfan staggered a few steps and steadied himself. He looked at Qin Xian with some resentment, unable to speak.
“After you wash off the blood, call your colleagues up here to continue the experiment. See if two or more people can summon eldritch entities simultaneously and if they can attack each other’s summoned entities.”
Xun Guangfan’s eyes suddenly regained some sparkle. He nodded and walked into his room to clean himself.
Indeed, when the target of trouble was someone else, motivation was always boundless.
An hour and a half later, in a room on the fourth floor, the unfortunate individuals who had been called up were panting on the ground. The room was splattered with blood everywhere. Qin Xian stood by like a robot, impartially concluding:
If eldritch entities are summoned simultaneously, they can attack each other’s summoned entities. In that case, it’s best for us to summon all the students’ eldritch entities in one go.
The police officers lay motionless on the ground, unresponsive. Xun Guangfan, having somewhat recovered his strength, asked, “Why must we summon our inner demons using negative emotions? Shouldn’t we try to avoid triggering them at this time?”
“Inner demons?”
“Don’t you think this thing is very similar to the inner demons in cultivation novels?”
“Indeed.” Qin Xian quickly accepted this explanation and continued to answer, “Because the key to the formation of this domain lies with these students. It is their negative emotions that created this place, so killing the inner demons is likely the method to leave. Rather than one-on-one, it’s better for everyone to summon them together and use strategy to defeat them.”
Xun Guangfan asked, “Can we leave after defeating the inner demons? But I don’t see any signs of leaving right now?”
“You can try walking down to the first floor.”
The group quickly went downstairs. Qin Xian was immediately swarmed by chattering students.
“Boss, what were you guys doing on the fourth floor? Was there a shootout?”
“Wow, why do you have blood on you? Did you find the killer?”
“What do we do next? I want to go home…”
Qin Xian placed his index finger to his lips. The surrounding students immediately quieted down, and a couple of them blushed. Xun Guangfan, standing nearby, also perked up his ears, waiting for Qin Xian to speak.
“If you have questions, ask him. I have other things to do.”
Qin Xian pushed the stunned Xun Guangfan forward and then slipped away from behind.
Xun Guangfan was speechless. He was impressed.
“Hey, kid, hurry up and talk. What are you spacing out for?”
“Why can you go to the fourth floor and I can’t? Is it just because you’ve been a subordinate for longer?”
Xun Guangfan was speechless.
Damn these favoritism-showing brats.
