    36: Inheritance Swap

Amidst the argument, frantic knocking on the door sounded.

Qiu Shi opened the door, and it was the male caregiver: “Mr. Lewis has been taken into the operating room, it’s estimated… come quickly.”

Together, they arrived at the medical floor. The operating room light was on, and the doctors were performing emergency procedures.

“How could this be? Wasn’t he getting better?” Qiu Shi asked the nurse.

The nurse shook her head: “Mr. Lewis’s physical condition has always been less than optimistic. Please be patient.”

The butler calmly summoned the elders and lawyers, preparing for the worst.

    Everyone waited anxiously.

Tsukimi Rin also followed the commotion and arrived.

The elders all pretended not to see her.

Qiu Shi looked grave: “Rin, I’m so nervous…”

    “It’s okay, I’m always here.”

In comparison, Qiu Ci was much calmer. Qin Yishan was beside him.

This was Qin Yishan’s first time meeting Tsukimi Rin; they both found each other unlikable.

More than an hour later, the doctor came out looking solemn and said something to the butler.

The gray-haired butler calmly nodded, then announced to everyone outside: “Mr. Lewis is in critical condition. Please, the elders, lawyers, Ai La, and Allen, all come inside.”

    The group got up heavily.

Qin Yishan was tacitly allowed to follow. Tsukimi Rin, supporting Qiu Shi, also entered.

Lewis’s cloudy eyes scanned the people around him, finally settling on Qiu Shi.

Qiu Shi was considering whether to confess about Qiu Ci’s contracts. Judging by the elders’ attitude, she really couldn’t be sure.

Qiu Ci, however, stood confidently to the side: “Father…”

Lewis’s blurred voice said a sentence: “All my shares and inheritance are gifted to my adopted daughter: Ai La.”

With one sentence, he revealed the key information.

The recording and notes all recorded this crucial sentence.

Even though the elders had recently been trying to improve Qiu Ci’s reputation in front of him, they couldn’t stop the old man’s last wish.

Qiu Shi sobbed uncontrollably. Her concern for the inheritance vanished, replaced by the anguish of a child saying goodbye to her father, desperately trying to keep him here: “Dad, you’ll get better, right? I can’t, I don’t want to leave you.”

Lewis’s withered hand touched the girl’s cheek: “Live happily. Everything is your own.”

His other hand hooked Qiu Ci’s finger. Qiu Ci lowered his head: “Father…” Although also filled with tears, he wasn’t as exaggerated as Qiu Shi.

“Child, just do what you want to do. Everything is because of your sister.”

General Manager Qin interrupted this emotional scene: “Mr. Lewis, are you really not going to reconsider? If all the assets are given to the young lady…”

He never received an answer. Lewis’s eyes truly closed.

Before long, the heart rate on the monitors turned into a straight line.

The financial world’s legend, Mr. Lewis, passed away today at 0:45 AM New York time.

Qiu Shi felt unprecedented heartache. She hadn’t spent much time with her father in these past few years. Even without blood relations, they had long become each other’s few family members.

From now on, Qiu Shi only had her younger brother and Tsukimi Rin.

Three days later, Lewis was laid to rest under the soil of a suburban cemetery.

Qiu Shi’s short, happy childhood was also sealed underground by this tombstone. Her face pale, she bowed to the tombstone.

That year at the orphanage, she and her younger brother were taken home by Mr. Lewis.

Lewis had many children but preferred these two Chinese children. The two children liked to draw, so he hired famous teachers to teach them.

Every time they got sick, Lewis was very concerned.

A dozen years of happy childhood were interrupted by the deaths of several older brothers.

Lewis worried that his enemies were behind it, so he had no choice but to send the two to China.

Because there were no older brothers to inherit his inheritance, Qiu Shi became the successor.

She was at a rebellious age of ten, tied to the study and forced to learn the dull and boring financial industry with a teacher.

At sixteen, her younger brother had a car accident. At seventeen, she went to study in Japan. At twenty-one, she inherited the Chinese branch.

At twenty-seven, she became the largest shareholder of Global Wealth.

Qiu Shi had such good luck.

    But she was alone.

She lost her father, and her younger brother was drifting further and further away.

She passed the days in a daze for several days, suddenly feeling that something was wrong.

It was too quiet. She was quietly immersed in the pain of losing her father, with only Tsukimi Rin by her side.

It shouldn’t be this way. The transfer of CW’s assets should begin quickly.

Only now did she realize something was wrong. She called the lawyer, who stammered.

Qiu Shi quickly invited the elders who were still in New York to a meeting.

    “Can anyone explain this?”

Qin’s father chuckled: “Ms. Ai La, what exactly are you referring to?”

“The inheritance, the situation with the shares? Is this a power move?”

“You’re joking. Why would we give you a power move? The heir is Mr. Allen,” Qin’s father said, extremely contemptuous.

Qiu Shi narrowed her eyes: “You’re really bold. It’s a pity this isn’t something you can decide with just a word. Where’s the lawyer?”

The young man in the corner stood up, trembling: “Ai La…Ms. Ai La.”

“That’s why my father found so many notaries at the time, worrying that you would forcibly occupy everything, right, Mr. Lawyer?”

The young man took a deep breath: “Yes, the successor designated by Mr. Lewis is…Allen.”

Qin’s father laughed: “Ms. Ai La, who do you want to be your notary? We are all Allen’s notaries.”

“What about the recording? Can you fake that too?” So, Qiu Ci was waiting for her here.

The lawyer shook his head: “Mr. Allen has so many notaries, but you have nothing…Recording? You don’t have one, either.”

At the time, Qiu Shi was too sad and forgot about it for a moment.

Qiu Ci had indeed come to New York very early, even bribing the lawyer.

Qiu Shi slammed the door and went straight to the butler.

The butler looked up from the newspaper: “What’s wrong, Ms. Ai La?”

“The inheritance. Only you can help me. Allen bribed the lawyer. You were there at the time.”

The butler frowned and thought for a moment: “Ms. Ai La, I can’t help you notarize.”

Qiu Shi already understood. How could Qiu Ci be so cold-blooded?

Her father had only just been buried.

And he could already do such a thing.

Qiu Shi angrily slammed the table: “I really didn’t expect that even you…I’m going to appeal.”

    “Suit yourself.”

She had no recording and no witnesses, but Qiu Ci had a large number of notaries and a notarized document from who knows where.

In the middle of the night, Qiu Shi was at a loss about this matter, smoking on the balcony.

Tsukimi Rin asked how it went.

Qiu Shi buried her head in her chest: “Baby, I was betrayed by him. How dare he be so bold.”

Tsukimi Rin had never seen Qiu Shi like this, and asked: “What happened?”

Qiu Shi wiped her tears: “Qiu Ci bribed all the notaries and lawyers from that day. Why does he have to do this so disgustingly?”

“What about the notarized document and the recording?”

“The notarized document is fake, and they won’t take out the recording.” Qiu Shi sniffled: “I want to appeal.”
