    58: Nihilism

    58: Nihilism

Since Qin Yishan hasn’t shown any obvious hostility yet, it would be fine for Qiu Ci to get acquainted with him.

The house is cleaned regularly, so it’s well-maintained.

He took a nap in the middle of the day and then washed his face after waking up.

He saw those unsightly scars again.

Qiu Ci put on a mask and went to the cosmetics counter in the mall to try out some concealers.

Qiu Shi didn’t wear makeup, so there was nothing at home.

“Hello, what do you need?” The counter attendant was actually a man.

Qiu Ci looked up and saw a young man with light golden blond hair, who looked about his age, a little shorter, and effeminate with makeup on.

“Wow, your colored contacts are so natural,” the young man praised. He had been told during training to praise customers first. This customer was wrapped up tightly, leaving only a pair of eyes exposed.

It wasn’t entirely an exaggeration; the light green colored contacts really did look natural.

“I’m a man,” Qiu Ci said.

The young man was even more excited, “Wow, little brother, you’re so cute.”

    “Thank you, you’re even cuter.”

“It’s different, little brother, are you buying this for your girlfriend?”

    “I’m using it myself.”

The young man had good basic manners and didn’t show any surprise. Perhaps in his eyes, it wasn’t surprising for a man to use cosmetics. “What kind of product are you looking for?”

    “Concealer.”

“Let me see the skin tone on your face so I can help you choose. I guarantee…”

Qiu Ci pulled down his mask, and the young man was stunned.

Those earthworm-like scars: “Is this recent? Oh my god.”

“Scary?” Qiu Ci wasn’t too surprised and was about to put the mask back on.

The young man grabbed his arm, “It’s okay, your features are so defined, are you mixed?”

“Yeah, I had a car accident a while ago, and I got scars, so I need to cover them up,” Qiu Ci said.

The young man hesitated for a long time before taking out a lighter-toned concealer and a foundation that matched Qiu Ci’s skin tone from the counter: “You need to hydrate first, then use this concealer, foundation, and finally some setting powder…”

Qiu Ci noted everything down one by one.

“Also… actually, you should arrange for cosmetic surgery as soon as possible. It should be from a while ago, right? The sooner, the better,” the young man reminded him.

“I’m not ready yet, maybe in a few days.”

The young man gave him a business card.

    “Su Yuyang?”

“That’s my name. My family’s cosmetic surgery projects are very famous. Consider it. If you go through me, I can arrange an earlier appointment for you; otherwise, you’ll have to wait in line, and it’ll really delay you,” Su Yuyang’s eyes were very sincere.

Qiu Ci took the business card. He still had to check whether it was reliable or not.

The night was already getting cold. Qiu Ci walked home. He had been resting for too long recently.

Even a short journey made him feel tired.

When he got home, he saw a thermal container.

He thought it was from the neighbor.

His phone happened to ring. It was Qin Yishan calling.

“Qiu Ci, I brought you a meal. You weren’t home just now, so I left it at the door. Remember to take it.”

    “Actually, you don’t have to.”

Qin Yishan smiled, “Hahaha, are you afraid I’ll poison you? Don’t worry, why would I harm you? We’re just friends, and I don’t have many friends.”

Qiu Ci took the thermal container into the house, “Qin, I might need to get cosmetic surgery.”

“Sure, I can arrange it for you. Is it just scar removal?”

    “Yeah, it’s not very convenient.”

“Indeed.” Qin Yishan briefly checked some information.

“Lend me some money when the time comes.” Although it was the first time he was borrowing money, Qiu Ci was neither humble nor arrogant, and his voice was full of energy.

“Of course I will give it to you, it’s just a small matter.” Qin Yishan then thought of the hoodie Qiu Ci was wearing today: “I forgot to remind you, it’s winter, don’t wear just a single layer.”

“Okay.” It was indeed very cold when he went out this afternoon.

But it wasn’t that cold when he entered the hospital, so he didn’t prepare for the change in clothing.

That night, he not only had insomnia, but the wound on his shoulder also had a persistent itch.

He resisted scratching it until he fell asleep at dawn, when his fingers touched a trace of stickiness.

    A dull pain spread.

“Damn.” Qiu Ci cursed inwardly. He had torn the healing wound while sleeping.

Enduring the pain, he wrapped himself in a coat and went to the hospital.

To save time, he ended up taking a taxi. What else could he do?

It’s just death, no big deal.

Qiu Ci fell into a state of nihilism.

When he arrived at the hospital, the blood had already soaked through the pajamas he hadn’t changed inside.

Qiu Ci’s complexion was already bad, and now it was even paler.

    The on-duty doctor was startled.

He quickly arranged for sutures and bandaging.

The disinfection made Qiu Ci wince in pain.

He was busy until the afternoon. Because of the wound and the wind last night, Qiu Ci felt a headache.

The doctor told him to get an IV drip for a cold.

He was dazed as the nurse led him over, got a drip, and had it stuck on the back of his hand.

Then Qiu Ci was arranged in a large ward, with dozens of people sitting and getting drips.

He was drowsy but couldn’t get comfortable.

The little girl next to him was already snoring on her father’s lap.

Or there were couples sleeping on each other’s shoulders.

The backrest was hard and straight, making it impossible to sleep.

    Qiu Ci was too sleepy.

He lost so much blood and had a fever.

He woke up again from the pain.

The medicine bottle above had been empty for a while, and blood was already flowing back.

Qiu Ci was startled again and quickly called a nurse.

The little nurse exclaimed “Oh my.”

    She hurriedly dealt with it.

After finally pulling it out, his throat started to hurt.

How long had it been since he had eaten or drank anything?

    He looked at his phone.

    It was afternoon.

Qiu Ci was hungry and had a headache.

Just as he was about to go home, he saw Qin Yishan again.

“Why didn’t you tell me? You have a fever?” Qin Yishan had also found Qiu Ci from the medical records. After finishing his work, he timed it to show up in front of Qiu Ci.

“I… cough cough.” His throat was sore and hoarse: “Cough cough… Send… me.”

Qin Yishan poured him a cup of warm water first, “Stay in the hospital for observation, you…”

Qiu Ci’s head was still dizzy.

“I’ve arranged a ward, let’s go.” Qin Yishan patted his shoulder.

Qiu Ci didn’t refuse anymore, and followed him shakily to the ward, falling asleep as soon as he collapsed on the bed.

Or maybe he fainted, anyway, it was very uncomfortable.

    Would he just die directly?

    If he died, he died.

Anyway, he didn’t know what else to do.

He didn’t know how long he slept, but he woke up hungry.

    His stomach ached from hunger.

If it wasn’t one pain, it was another.

    Qiu Ci really had enough.

He opened his eyes and it was dark.

    Midnight?

“Awake?” Qin Yishan was sitting next to him looking at a notebook, and saw Qiu Ci move from the corner of his eye. He handed over a glass of water.

    It was a little cold.

Qiu Ci poured it into his throat and only felt comfortable, but it started to hurt when it reached his stomach.

    “Hiss…”

“Does the wound hurt?” Qin Yishan asked with concern.

    “Hungry.”

Qin Yishan ordered some take-out porridge.

It didn’t arrive for half an hour.

Qiu Ci was already covered in sweat.

He only recovered after eating small bites of porridge and fried buns.

    “Better?”

    “Much better, thank you.”

Qin Yishan closed his notebook, “You can come to me if you have any trouble. It was so dangerous that you fell asleep alone while getting a drip today, do you know that?”

    Qiu Ci nodded, “It’s okay.”

There are many things a person needs to learn, including not sleeping while getting a drip.
