BCGWR Chapter 24 Part 2
by BLReadsHan Ji-su, knowing his consideration, fixed his gaze on Jung Ha-jin’s hand stroking Toto and asked.
“…And… when you were in the military… can I ask what you did? Oh, is it perhaps a state secret?”
“It’s no longer a secret, so it doesn’t matter.”
“Oh… so it was a secret?”
“Yes. After my military service, I worked for a government agency.”
“Wow~ Like a secret agent from a movie?”
“Yes.”
“What!?”
“Squeak!?”
Han Ji-su’s eyes widened in surprise at the immediate affirmative answer to what he had asked jokingly. Toto, also startled, puffed up from his flattened state, but then, under the calming touch, flattened again like a hotteok, letting out a small “squeeeak…”
“…You’re not kidding, are you?”
“Yes. I worked for the country, for the national interest.”
As Jung Ha-jin nodded with a serious face, Han Ji-su, who had unconsciously dropped his jaw, asked in bewilderment.
“…Wow… so you used special items like James Bond, too?”
“…There were almost none of those… but common special items included lens-type cameras and fountain pen-shaped weapons containing strong anesthetic.”
“Wow…! Amazing. A lens-type camera? That lens you wear in your eye? The one that takes pictures when you blink?”
“Yes.”
“Wow… so those items really existed… I thought it was all just in movies…”
“While transforming cars didn’t exist, small props were surprisingly more common than one might think.”
“…Haha, that’s fascinating… Then, hmm… after The Cataclysm, are there agents who awakened as Espers, like Esper Jung Ha-jin?”
“To my knowledge, there are a few. There are also many agents who awakened as Healers.”
“…I see… That’s fascinating… and… interest…ing…”
Han Ji-su’s words began to slow down noticeably. He seemed so intoxicated by the medicine that moving his tongue appeared difficult. His eyes were already mostly closed, barely slits, holding on, and though he looked quite bleary, no one in the room paid it any mind.
“Ah… there’s so much more I want to ask… but I think the medicine is kicking in, I’m so sleepy… This…”
“We will have plenty of time to talk in the future. So, don’t push yourself and feel free to sleep.”
It would have been comfortable to just fall asleep, but Han Ji-su, apparently quite unwilling to sleep, rubbed his eyes roughly and mumbled, staring unfocused at Jung Ha-jin’s chest.
“…No, still… this is such an interesting… topic right now… My goodness, a secret agent… You have to tell me that story tomorrow…”
“Yes. I will.”
“…Ah… wait, I don’t want to sleep yet…”
Jung Ha-jin gazed silently at Han Ji-su, who was smiling faintly, drugged. He seemed so limp that even tossing and turning, unwilling to sleep, was difficult, suggesting the medicine was quite potent.
According to Kim Hyun-ah, he would usually fall asleep immediately after taking the medicine, but seeing him resist like this, it seemed he ordinarily struggled with sleep. Having quickly grasped Han Ji-su’s insomnia, Jung Ha-jin answered all of Han Ji-su’s questions, intending to let him fall asleep naturally during their conversation.
