As Han Ji-su’s gaze lingered on one spot while reading the notes left by the Awakened teams entering and exiting the Dungeon, Jung Ha-jin also turned his attention there. Han Ji-su’s brow furrowed slightly, and his gaze stopped at the record for December 20th.

Even after a thorough look, the area where Han Ji-su’s gaze lingered only contained information about clearing the boss monster. Just in case, Jung Ha-jin had chosen a Dungeon that showed no signs of Kang Jae-yoon having cleared it while Han Ji-su was showering, so he wondered what was making Han Ji-su look so displeased. Jung Ha-jin stared blankly at the tablet, which wasn’t being scrolled past that page, then cautiously asked,
“Is there something bothering you?”
“…!!”
“If the nightmare demon is too much, we could go to another Dungeon nearby…”
“Ah… no, it’s not that. It’s just… when I see these clearance records…”
“…”
“…Hmm… it just makes me realize how true it is that humans are the cruelest…”
At his words, Jung Ha-jin checked the contents displayed on the tablet screen again.
The content Jung Ha-jin had shown Han Ji-su was the record of an Open-type Collection Dungeon. In summary, it detailed the collection of internal resources while deliberately keeping the boss alive instead of killing it.
In the case of an Open-type Dungeon, if the boss monster dies, the Dungeon disappears after a certain period. Therefore, the common strategy was to attack the boss until it was on the verge of death, then let it escape, in order to secure time to collect resources within the Dungeon.
To be precise, while they did keep the boss monster alive, the more accurate description would be that they left it barely clinging to life, on the verge of death with just a light touch, and then allowed it to flee in a bloody mess.
The reason for repeatedly performing such troublesome tasks was that all sorts of byproducts found scattered throughout the Dungeon turned into enormous sums of money. Everything encountered in the Dungeon, such as rare ores that served as alternative energy sources, grasses, trees, flowers, and Magic Stones that could be collected from monster corpses, were all excellent resources.
Of course, there were also many Dungeons with terrain that offered little to collect. In such Dungeons, the boss monster was usually hunted immediately, allowing the Dungeon to disappear right away.
Understanding Han Ji-su’s meaning, Jung Ha-jin pondered for a moment, choosing his words carefully. The nightmare demon was a monster with an appearance almost identical to that of a human.
Not only its appearance, but it also possessed a knack for mimicking humans exceptionally well. If Han Ji-su felt pity for such a being, entering the Dungeon itself could prove to be a tremendous source of stress.
Just as Jung Ha-jin finished his brief contemplation and was about to speak, Han Ji-su began scrolling the tablet down again, quickly. His touch on the screen was unhesitant, but his eyes were dry, unlike the furrowed expression from moments ago.
Jung Ha-jin looked at Han Ji-su’s profile, whose eyes were cast down indifferently, then slowly reached out, picked up the tablet, and placed it on the table, saying,
“…?”
“Guide Han Ji-su.”
“…Yes?”
“If there’s no absolute reason to go into a Dungeon, how about just resting?”
“…”
No absolute reason to go into a Dungeon… At those words, Han Ji-su hesitated for a moment, unable to answer. He had even showered and changed his appearance specifically to go to a Dungeon, and now, wondering if it was okay to just rest, he merely parted his lips. Then, Jung Ha-jin continued speaking.
“As I just mentioned, Collection Dungeons don’t offer much in the way of pleasant sights.”
“…”
“Furthermore, the Dungeon Rank is low, so it would be insufficient for training Toto’s S-rank Skill.”
“…Th-that… um… yes, well… still, you prepared all this because of me…”
“For your information, I don’t have to go.”
“…But you registered for training…”
“Something like that can simply be canceled. The procedure isn’t complicated either.”
“…”
It was a truly calm reply. Han Ji-su looked down at Toto, who had transformed into a long-tailed tit and was now sitting on his thigh.
“…Still… Toto’s Skill… I need to train it…”
“Peep-! Pee-e-e-ep-!”
“It seems Toto is also saying that he doesn’t need to train.”
“Peep!”
“…You understand what Toto says?”
It was something Han Ji-su had already been curious about after seeing the two of them conversing in the kitchen, but Jung Ha-jin shook his head, denying it outright.
“No, not exactly. I just thought that if Toto really wanted to go to the Dungeon, he’d be sitting on the doorknob crying by now.”
“…”
Indeed, now that he heard it, it made sense. Han Ji-su carefully stroked Toto’s round head and asked,
“Toto. Is it okay if we don’t go to the Dungeon?”
“Peep!”
“Our Toto likes Dungeon fruit, doesn’t he?”
“Pee-peep.”
“Are you really sure it’s okay?”
“Peep!”
