BCGWR Chapter 3 Part 2
by BLReadsHe used to shake his body to music whenever he had a chance, even crossing his legs and tapping his feet, humming songs while traveling in a car. Yet, that previous appearance was nowhere to be found, and it was puzzling why his current motionless, upright posture seemed so reliable.
Of course, Kang Jae-yoon, unlike Han Ji-su who was simply unfocused and easily distracted, had a difference in that he was full of energy and enjoyed moving his body. However, Ji-su didn’t deliberately bring up this difference.
Glancing at his upright posture, Ji-su realized he was slouching like taffy melted onto a chair and straightened his back.
‘Even Espers said spinal surgery is painful. Think of your spine. Spine…’
How many minutes passed as he fought off drowsiness, starting from the story of an acquaintance Esper’s spinal surgery, stemming from his slouching posture, and thinking all sorts of random thoughts…? Finally, the sleep-inducing video ended, and as the lights in the dark classroom came on, groans from those who had fought off sleep could be heard everywhere.
Han Ji-su also stretched and subtly looked around the classroom. Most of the Espers from the temporary raid team who had cleared the C-rank dungeon yesterday seemed quite displeased with the penalty education, sitting there with grimaces and grumbling.
‘What did they do so well…? It’s all because of them. What am I doing here, all because of them?’
[Inside the dungeon, everyone is a valuable asset. Because of me, a comrade could be in danger. Therefore, if you want to fight, clear the dungeon and go outside the gate to do so.]
This was one of the most important rules for the Peace Guild, which Ji-su belonged to, when entering a dungeon.
Simply put, it meant never to fight inside the dungeon, no matter what, but to come out and fight. However, yesterday, they failed to follow that simple rule, leading to a power struggle among the Espers, which escalated into a full-blown brawl.
And this happened right before raiding the boss room. Since physical Espers had even exchanged blows, the report went up to the higher-ups, and as a result, they all received penalty education.
‘…But I didn’t even throw a punch!’
Well, to be honest, even though he tried to stop them from fighting, they wouldn’t listen, so he did speak up a little annoyingly. A bit excessively.
Han Ji-su still considered his response to be quite gentlemanly from his perspective. After all, he only spoke, he didn’t act. However, the highly agitated Esper didn’t seem to think so, and approached Han Ji-su with his powers unleashed.
Of course, that Esper wasn’t an irredeemable idiot, so he probably had no intention of using his power against a Guide, who was practically a non-Awakened. If there had been no other surprises, it would have ended with just a threat, but the problem was that a surprise did occur.
A surprise in which Han Ji-su’s S-rank companion monster, sensing the opposing Esper’s threat, darted out and beat that Esper like a rat…
“…”
Recalling the Esper being beaten by the small hamster-type monster, Ji-su unconsciously pressed his lips into a tight line. Even though it was his companion hamster, it beat the Esper so thoroughly… it was a tremendous thrashing that would make anyone watching feel pain.
Normally, if a companion monster harms a person, it becomes subject to disposal, but when the Awakened Special Law was carefully applied, the situation that day fortunately fell under self-defense.
So, Han Ji-su wasn’t particularly worried until he left the dungeon and was called to Human Resources. Even in Human Resources, he earnestly argued that his companion monster had intervened solely as a defensive act to protect its owner.
He pleaded with quite persuasive logic, saying, “It’s absolutely not because my child is violent. It was merely an instinctive action by a companion monster to protect its master, and my companion monster is a defense-specialized monster, not an attack-type monster…” However, the problem was that the Esper who was beaten was a B-rank.
