    Camp

Xie Yi and Shen Shu followed the young man to the side, winding through about four or five ruined alleyways before entering an abandoned underground parking lot.

As soon as they entered the tunnel, a person came to greet them. The young man who had led Xie Yi and Shen Shu down said to him, “These are the ones,” and then turned and left.

“Hello.” The man extended his hand towards them. “I am Wu Xinli, the team leader of the 6th Joint Contact Point, from the Jin City Security Defense Team.”

“Hello, I’m Xie Yi.” Xie Yi gave his hand a light shake, then tilted his head towards the side. “Shen Shu, we’re from the Kui City Security Defense Team.”

“I know, Lin Xuan mentioned it when he sent the message just now.” Wu Xinli said, then extended his hand towards Shen Shu again. However, Shen Shu only raised his eyelids and glanced at him lightly, without reaching out.

Wu Xinli was stunned for a couple of seconds, then awkwardly retracted his hand with a smile. “You guys are also new Bai Er members of the Kui City Security Defense Team, right?”

Xie Yi noncommittally said “Mm” and scanned the sparsely populated area behind him, saying, “We were held up by something and arrived late. The other new recruits should have already gone in, right?”

“Yes.” Wu Xinli said. “Three people arrived three days earlier than you and went in on the day they arrived.”

As he spoke, Wu Xinli turned to the side and gestured inside. “Let’s go, let’s talk inside. We just received a message from the Bai Er members inside the high-risk Enclosed Zone yesterday, and I think you need to know about it.”

“Did something happen?” Xie Yi asked, walking beside him with Shen Shu.

“You should know that during missions in the high-risk Enclosed Zone, joint teams will set up temporary camps in their respective cleared areas, right?” Wu Xinli led them to a small table, gesturing for them to sit down and talk.

    Xie Yi nodded. “I know.”

Temporary camps were mentioned in the joint team’s briefing. They are gathering points for various teams operating in the high-risk Enclosed Zone, with temporary personnel and locations, mainly serving as places for rest or communication with the contact point. Even a single person can set one up.

“We received news yesterday that many temporary camps in the high-risk Enclosed Zone have been subjected to concentrated attacks by Mutated Entities recently.” Wu Xinli said with a grave expression. “Although the temporary camp locations selected by the joint teams in the high-risk Enclosed Zone are prone to encounters and attacks due to overlapping with the activity areas of Mutated Entities, this is the first time that they’ve been subjected to concentrated attacks by Mutated Entities.”

“And from the message sent by the team member, it seems like the Mutated Entities are looking for them.”

Xie Yi’s heart sank upon hearing this.

“We have already reported this news, but we have not yet received a reply from the main team.” Wu Xinli said. “The current situation is not clear. This is your first time entering the high-risk Enclosed Zone, do you want to wait for two days?”

“We’re going in to deliver medical supplies anyway, so we can take you in to meet up with the other Bai Er members.”

“Thank you.” Xie Yi didn’t directly agree, but instead looked to the side first. “Delivering medical supplies to the high-risk Enclosed Zone, your team alone probably doesn’t have enough manpower, right? And you probably can’t go in too deep.”

“Manpower is definitely not enough.” Wu Xinli said. “According to the past, generally, people inside the Enclosed Zone would build temporary camps on the outside, contact us, and then we would deliver supplies to them, and they would then transfer them from the camps.”

“But this time it’s a bit special.” Wu Xinli sighed. “According to yesterday’s news, the temporary camps inside the Enclosed Zone can’t last for two days before being attacked, so we can’t use the temporary camps this time. We can only find people directly.”

Xie Yi: “How are you planning to find them?”

Wu Xinli: “Relying on general coordinates. Flash explosions are frequent in the high-risk Enclosed Zone, and the pollution concentration is extremely unstable, making it impossible to construct Tagging Anchors. The signal is also basically in a breakpoint state. We can only use a special guide to determine general coordinates for the meeting.”

Xie Yi: “Did the person who contacted you yesterday set coordinates with you?”

“Set a few.” Wu Xinli nodded in response. “But we don’t have enough existing supplies to fully distribute, so we want to wait for the new supplies to arrive in the next few days before delivering them together.”

“Then give me the coordinates that are the furthest away now, as well as the corresponding medical supplies.” Xie Yi looked at him and said, “We’ll help you deliver them.”

Wu Xinli looked at him, stunned.

Xie Yi looked at him calmly and said, “You should have enough supplies to deliver to one set of coordinates, right?”

“Yes… yes, we do.” Wu Xinli paused. “Are you planning to go in now? But…”

Xie Yi interrupted him: “Yes, we plan to go in now.”

Wu Xinli opened his mouth, wanting to say something more, but meeting the other person’s gaze, he subconsciously swallowed the words back down, and then after a long while, he reorganized his language. “In that case, we’ll have to trouble you!”

“The car can only go this far.” Lin Xuan parked the car near an abandoned church. “This church is the closest Gigawhale sub-launcher to the high-risk Enclosed Zone. After leaving here and walking forward for about half an hour, you will gradually leave the launcher’s range and enter the high-risk Enclosed Zone. Be careful.”

Xie Yi said “Thank you,” then patted Shen Shu next to him, signaling him to get out of the car.

The roar of the car engine went from near to far, finally disappearing completely into the air.

Almost only half of the dilapidated church stood alone on the devastated ruins.

Walking forward through the church, one could still see many broken buildings along the way, abandoned vehicles crushed by boulders, and unknown colored objects mixed inside, as well as scattered trees stubbornly growing, as if one could still faintly see the original appearance of this town.

“We should be almost out of the Gigawhale launcher’s range from here.” Xie Yi looked at the increasingly rugged and dense woods not far ahead.

Around the ground, many thick vines had begun to creep out at some point, intertwined and stretched towards the ground ahead.

The pollution in the Enclosed Zone is like natural nutrients for plants. The higher the concentration, the more lush and rugged these things grow.

Xie Yi was currently holding a circular dial in his hand. The dial displayed a coordinate point, with the pointer pointing towards the front from his direction.

The special guide used for high-pollution Enclosed Zones is designed based on the chaotic magnetic field inside the Enclosed Zone. As long as flash explosion phenomena are avoided, the pointer will not deviate too much.

Xie Yi put away the guide and was about to call Shen Shu to continue walking when he saw him staring intently at the front right.

    Xie Yi frowned: “Shen Shu.”

Shen Shu immediately came back to his senses upon hearing this, his gaze meeting his. “What’s wrong? Captain.”

“What are you looking at?” Perhaps because of Jiangbei before, Xie Yi subconsciously asked, “Did you hear any sounds again?”
