BFET Chapter 40
by BLReadsWind and Rain
Xie Yi raised his eyelids to look at him, not speaking, nor refusing.
It was quiet around, with only the intermittent hissing of the cleaning and anti-inflammatory spray echoing.
Shen Shu’s tactical gloves had been removed at some point, and Xie Yi’s warm body temperature was slowly transferring from his palm.
He lowered his eyes, glancing over the scale marks on Xie Yi’s arm that hadn’t completely faded, and then quietly watched the dense water droplets covering the wound gradually solidify into a milky white film, the mottled dirty blood particularly noticeable on it.
Xie Yi’s gaze never left Shen Shu, watching his gentle and obedient expression as he meticulously cleaned and bandaged the wound on his arm, then got up and moved behind him again.
Completely unlike his previous indifferent “so what” demeanor, his mood was somewhat complicated.
Honestly, he wasn’t someone who was good at communicating with people, and he didn’t like trouble either.
From the moment he learned about Shen Shu’s special background and cold upbringing, he felt like he was holding a tangled ball of yarn.
He didn’t know where to start, or whether he should start at all.
The overly complicated background made him hesitate, the brief two months of harmonious coexistence evoked his compassion, and there was also the sixteen years ago that no one remembered anyway…
Xie Yi was a little lost in thought.
Just then, a voice suddenly sounded in his ear: “Okay, Captain.”
Whether intentional or not.
When Shen Shu spoke, he lightly rested his hand on his shoulder, his whole body leaning over from behind.
The artificially created wind, carrying a burning heat, brushed past his ear, and instantly a layer of goosebumps spread across the skin on his ear.
Xie Yi snapped back to his senses, subconsciously turning his head, meeting Shen Shu’s eyes that were close at hand.
The next second, before Xie Yi could react, the person pressed against him retreated first.
Shen Shu: “Captain has a good figure.”
Xie Yi pursed his lips and glanced at him silently, then turned and took out another team uniform from his Space Button and put it on.
Then he tilted his head and stared at Shen Shu for two seconds, just about to open his mouth, but he only managed to say “You.”
Suddenly, a few short groans came from the side.
The two paused and turned to look at the same time, only to see Su Yunan, who had been thrown aside, slowly sitting up with his hands on the ground.
He looked around in confusion at first, and after a few seconds, his gaze refocused and fell on Xie Yi and Shen Shu not far away.
Su Yunan frowned as he looked at them for a second, then suddenly thought of something, turned his head to look around, his expression a little flustered, as if he was looking for something.
Xie Yi said, “Meng-jie went to treat her wounds.”
Hearing Xie Yi’s address, Shen Shu raised his eyelids and glanced at him, thoughtfully.
“Oh, oh, okay, thank you.” Su Yunan let out an “ah” and immediately realized who the “Meng-jie” referred to, then he smiled awkwardly, “So, you guys are?”
Xie Yi: “We’re new recruits to Bai Er, we just arrived this afternoon.”
Su Yunan’s voice rose an octave: “You’re also new to Bai Er!”
As soon as he finished speaking, a rustling sound suddenly came from the bushes on his left, and Su Yunan immediately turned around and saw the person he had been looking for emerging from the bushes.
“You’re awake!” Shang Mengzhou was delighted to see Su Yunan and walked over quickly, “How do you feel?”
Su Yunan’s cheeks instantly flushed a light red, and his speech became stuttering, “N-No, I’m fine, I’m fine!”
Shang Mengzhou reached out and touched his head, taking the opportunity to ruffle his fluffy curly hair, “It’s good that you’re okay, what were you doing rushing up like that? You almost scared me to death.”
Su Yunan’s face turned even redder from her touch, and he stammered for a long time without uttering a word.
However, Shang Mengzhou didn’t notice, after checking on Su Yunan, who had fainted from being injured for her sake, she turned to look at Xie Yi, originally intending to ask him about his next plans, but she saw the person standing behind him first.
She hmm’d in confusion and asked, “Xie Yi, who is he?”
Since Shen Shu hadn’t approached earlier, Shang Mengzhou hadn’t noticed that there was another person besides Xie Yi.
Hearing this, Xie Yi glanced behind him out of the corner of his eye: “Shen Shu.”
After saying that, he paused and then spoke again: “A teammate from my previous squad.”
“Wasn’t your squad just you and You Xue?” Shang Mengzhou said, then quickly realized, muttering to herself, “Captain Fei finally pried open your mouth and got you to agree to add someone.”
After saying that, she shook her head and added, “Too bad, you’ve joined Bai Er now, you don’t have a squad anymore.”
Xie Yi: “…”
“Shen Shu.” Shang Mengzhou repeated the name, feeling that it sounded familiar, but she couldn’t remember why she felt that way after thinking for a long time.
However, Shang Mengzhou was never someone who dwelled on things, so she simply stopped thinking about it if she couldn’t remember.
She greeted Shen Shu cheerfully, then asked Xie Yi: “Since you’ve both been transferred to Bai Er, what about You Xue?”
“She went to the Jin City Security Defense Team.” Xie Yi explained briefly.
“In that case, she can meet up with Xiao Ze first, Xiao Ze also went to the Jin City Security Defense Team.” Shang Mengzhou said, “By the way, what are your plans next? Do you want to just team up?”
“Sure.” Xie Yi said, “But we have to deliver a batch of supplies to the 6th Joint Contact Point first.”
Shang Mengzhou: “Okay, let’s go together then, anyway, we have to continue clearing out the area, but the temporary camp can’t establish contact, where are you sending it? Coordinates?”
Xie Yi nodded: “Rough coordinates, some locations are quite deep, it’s not convenient for the people at the contact point to go that deep, so I’ll take care of the furthest one.”
Shang Mengzhou indicated that she understood, then looked at Xie Yi solemnly and said, “Since you’re delivering supplies, can you replenish some for Su Yunan and me first?”
As she said this, she spread out her hand in Xie Yi’s puzzled gaze, “Not medical supplies, but ammunition, I distributed some of the ammunition I had before, and the little bit that’s left has been used up in the past two days.”
Kui City Security Defense Team, General Command Room.
A huge holographic screen was currently suspended in mid-air, densely marked with many symbols, covered in different shades of red.
Among them, three areas were the deepest in color.
Fang Ganlang’s face was ashen: “Has Xing Jian arrived yet?”
“Yes.” A man with a slicked-back hairstyle and a stern expression responded, his face equally grave, “Lao Fang, three high-risk Enclosed Zones have problems at the same time, we need to make plans early.”
“I know.” Fang Ganlang closed his eyes, “The changes in the current enclosed situation are happening much faster than expected, I’ve already contacted other security defense teams to discuss it, we’ll transfer some small Safety Zones first in the near future, by the way, is there any news from Yuelan’s side?”
The man shook his head: “She replied a few days ago, saying that she found some strange footprints on that coastal area, she suspects that something crawled up from the sea.”
“But that sea area shouldn’t have anything.”
