    Chapter 2

Some say there is one event that can change the trajectory of your entire life. For Xu Ziyan, the event that changed his life’s trajectory was a ten-minute gaming video he watched online that year.

It was a fan-made video that had been re-edited, and Xu Ziyan still remembers the title clearly: Resist – Xie Shen S12 Kill Compilation.

On the video thumbnail, a man wearing headphones sat in front of a computer, a faint curve on his lips, his posture lazy yet possessing a strange charisma.

He had never been interested in gaming videos, but that day, as if possessed, he clicked on it and watched the entire video from start to finish, without skipping a minute.

In the video, gunshots were continuous, accompanied by explosions and flying dust. Amidst the chaos, the man referred to as “Xie Shen” stood on an overpass, shouldering an SVD Semi-Automatic Sniper Rifle. Every enemy in his scope seemed to be locked onto by his crosshair. After a gunshot loud enough to pierce the entire battlefield, a headshot kill popped up—clean, decisive, and incredibly cool.

The next moment, the scene shifted to the man sitting in an esports chair wearing a headset. He lowered his eyes, looking somewhat nonchalant, his thin lips moving as he spoke in a low, slightly husky voice. The lights above him were bright, and judging by the background, it seemed to be inside an arena.

Through the dense barrage of comments, Xu Ziyan vaguely learned that the man was named Xie Wei, ID Shining, and was the commander and Sniper for the TWG team.

He also picked up some miscellaneous information, such as Xie Wei being 1.88 meters tall, from a prominent family, and a rare Top-Tier Alpha.

After watching the video, Xu Ziyan, who had never touched a game before, unexpectedly opened his computer, downloaded the game called Resist, and followed Xie Wei’s social media accounts on various platforms during the download and installation. From then on, he embarked on his journey as a devoted fan, a path he couldn’t turn back from.

He had never played a similar shooting game, yet he displayed astonishing talent. Initially, many people mistook him for a cheater, but later, Xu Ziyan’s ID began to stand out on the Ladder Ranking, which is how more people came to know this Medic named Ice.

Gradually, professional esports teams began contacting him, but Xu Ziyan politely declined every time.

He already had a team he wanted to join.

After turning down numerous invitations, Xu Ziyan continued to grind Ranked Matches day and night until three months ago, when he finally received the invitation he desired from the TWG manager to try out for the TWG Esports Club Resist Division Youth Training Camp.

He thought that with his skill, he would quickly make a name for himself in the Youth Training Camp.

However, as soon as he entered the Youth Training Camp, Xu Ziyan’s good looks and Omega gender led the Coach to take advantage of “guidance,” touching his hands and putting an arm around his waist, which thoroughly disgusted him.

An eighteen-year-old boy’s temper is like a firecracker, ready to explode. Xu Ziyan didn’t hold back and punched the fat pig of a man, making his nose bleed profusely.

Unfortunately, being inexperienced, he was too naive. The next day, the Coach, who had paid a fine and received a warning, resumed his post, completely unaffected. Conversely, Xu Ziyan, due to his status as a Youth Training Camp Member, was targeted by him at every turn. His application to join the team was rejected three times in a row, leaving him with a bitter taste in his mouth.

If this continued, he would be kicked out of TWG once the tryout period ended.

    What should he do?

    Did he really have to…

    No, no, that’s not right.

Xu Ziyan shook his head, throwing out those chaotic thoughts.

He picked up his phone and unlocked the screen.

On the screen, a young, handsome man in a TWG team uniform leaned casually against a trophy stand. The World Championship trophy, representing the highest honor, was gently touched by his long fingers. Behind him was a rain of golden confetti, and in front of him were countless spotlights from around the world.

    It was Xie Wei.

Xu Ziyan looked at his phone, and suddenly, as if having made a firm decision, he abruptly stood up, turned off his phone, grabbed the jacket from the back of his chair, and ran out.

If he ended his tryout so vaguely and hastily, Xu Ziyan was certain he would regret it for the rest of his life.

He wouldn’t rely on his Pheromone to engage in opportunistic behavior, but at the very least—

He wanted to tell Xie Wei face-to-face, to prove to him that he was strong and hardworking, and he wanted a chance to stand by his side!
