    Chapter 47

Driving at full speed, Xie Wei returned to the Xie residence. He got out of the car, not even bothering to close the door, and sprinted toward the main entrance.

In the Xie family living room, the serving cart for the second floor had just been prepared. Uncle Yan and the servants were placing the dishes one by one when they saw Xie Wei rushing home. Uncle Yan was surprised: “Young Master Xie? Didn’t you go to the company?”

Xie Wei had no energy to respond to him. He went straight up to the second floor, his back view hurried and flustered.

Uncle Yan and the servants were old retainers of the family, having watched Xie Wei grow up. They had never seen him lose his composure like this. They exchanged bewildered glances, unsure what had happened, and quickly followed him.

The second-floor corridor was calm and peaceful, seemingly no different from usual.

But at this moment, the choking Alpha Pheromone permeating the air was enough to make everyone who stepped onto the second floor change their expression drastically.

Uncle Yan’s face turned paper-white. Xie Wei hadn’t had a suitable partner for so many years, and now he had finally brought someone home. He had just instructed the kitchen to prepare delicious food to send up, yet in the blink of an eye, something like this had happened right under his nose.

He, he wouldn’t be able to atone even if he died ten thousand times!

Xie Wei said nothing, his face cold as he strode forward and kicked open the tightly shut door at the end of the corridor.

However, what greeted him after opening the door was not the unsightly scene he had imagined.

Inside the messy room, glass shards from a vase and photo frame were scattered across the floor, and tables and chairs were overturned. A figure with a bloody head lay next to the coffee table—it was none other than Guo Ran, who was in his Rut Period!

All the signs in the room indicated that there had clearly been a fierce fight, and in the end, Guo Ran had been hit on the head with a vase and had fainted on the floor.

Guo Ran was here, so where was Xu Ziyan?

Xie Wei didn’t care about Guo Ran’s life or death. He turned around, his gaze searching aimlessly around the room.

Suddenly, a very faint sound came from the innermost bathroom.

Xie Wei didn’t miss the subtle movement and quickly turned toward the bathroom.

With the sound of the roller, the bathroom door was slowly pushed open. The light inside was off, and the curtain blocked the outside light completely. The air was saturated with water vapor, cold and damp when inhaled. A drop of water dripped from the loose faucet, falling into the overflowing water surface with a soft, elastic plink.

And the Omega youth he had been so worried about was sitting in the bathtub, completely submerged in cold water, his face flushed with an extremely abnormal crimson.

Xu Ziyan was startled by the movement. He raised his head, instinctively showing a vigilant, fierce expression. After clearly seeing Xie Wei’s face, his expression slowly softened. “…Captain…”

The worry Xie Wei had carried all the way finally settled.

He stepped forward, unhesitatingly entering the bathtub full of cold water, and tightly embraced the soaking wet Omega. While kissing his forehead and lips, he released his Pheromone, repeatedly soothing the youth’s tense body.

Xu Ziyan’s cheekbone and the corner of his mouth were bruised. When Xie Wei’s lips touched them, he couldn’t help but let out a soft cry of pain.

Though soft, the sound was particularly jarring to Xie Wei’s ears.

Xie Wei carefully cupped Xu Ziyan’s chin, examining his injuries. The youth’s skin was already fair, which made the bruises look even more shocking.

Heartache, guilt, anger… not just toward Guo Ran, but toward himself.

If he had been more careful, more attentive, this situation wouldn’t have occurred.

Under the soothing effect of Xie Wei’s Pheromone, Xu Ziyan’s previously chaotic mind slowly cleared. His body and mind were still uncomfortable, but compared to the burning, delirious pain he had felt just moments ago, it was much better.

When he had raised the vase and smashed it at Guo Ran, Xu Ziyan had genuinely intended to kill him.

But with his remaining rationality, he held back in the end. Then, he quickly fled into the bathroom and filled the tub with cold water to fight the heat raging inside his body.

In the past, when he felt this way, it was always because of Xie Wei, so the torment was sweet.

But this time, it made him feel utterly disgusted and agonizingly painful. Xu Ziyan had never hated his Omega gender so much.

Xie Wei meticulously checked Xu Ziyan’s body again. Seeing no other injuries, he finally sighed in relief, lowered his head, and buried his face in the youth’s neck, deeply inhaling the sweet scent of cotton candy on him. His voice, rarely, carried a tremor and unease. “I was very scared.”

On the way back, his mind had been almost blank.

Since a long time ago, Xie Wei had been accustomed to thinking about the worst possible outcome when considering things.

But this time, he hadn’t thought about it, nor dared to.

Xu Ziyan knew what Xie Wei was afraid of. He slowly hugged the Alpha in front of him, clumsily releasing his own Pheromone as well. In the air, the sweetness of strawberry cotton candy intertwined with the sourness of mint lemon. The originally icy water in the bathtub gradually warmed between their tightly pressed bodies.

“Even if you hadn’t come back, those things wouldn’t have happened.”

“No one else can do it. Only you can.”

Xie Wei froze for a moment.

He knew Xu Ziyan was not lying.

Guo Ran’s Rut Period Pheromone had been so overwhelming just now. If it were any other Omega, they would have likely succumbed to him long ago.

But Xu Ziyan not only didn’t lose his mind but also fought back, beating Guo Ran half to death.

It was only then that he belatedly remembered that this Omega, who had always been docile and obedient in front of him, had a glorious history of brutally beating a Coach.

This also meant that when he had encountered Xie Wei during his own Rut Period, Xu Ziyan would have been capable of leaving if he hadn’t wanted to stay.

    But he hadn’t left then.

This feeling, from the very beginning, was not due to the so-called Pheromone.

Xu Ziyan seemed worried that Xie Wei wouldn’t believe him and said very seriously, “Xie Wei, I like you. I’ve liked you for… a long time.”

Xie Wei closed his eyes, and past events surfaced in his mind.

The first time they met, he mistakenly thought Xu Ziyan was a frivolous Omega trading his body for resources, yet he couldn’t help but care, giving detailed instructions.

Later, he inexplicably pushed open the door of the second team’s training room and saw Xu Ziyan asleep from exhaustion in front of the computer. At that time, in addition to surprise and admiration, his heart held tenderness and pity.

At the rookie cup, under the spotlight, watched by thousands. Xu Ziyan, holding the championship trophy, was radiant and loudly declared his admiration and devotion to him. Xie Wei looked at him, unable to tear his eyes away.

In the emergency stairwell, Xu Ziyan was curled up on the steps due to the pain of the first Temporary Marking. Xie Wei lost his composure, and upon sensing Xu Ziyan’s vulnerability and dependence on him, he could barely control the urge to mark him again.

Just like now, Xie Wei desperately wanted to press the youth in his arms, inject his Pheromone into the Gland on the back of his neck, and tirelessly declare his ownership to everyone, including Xu Ziyan himself, again and again.

This was not just because of the Pheromone attraction between an Alpha and an Omega; it was because the person in front of him was Xu Ziyan.

He had never felt, nor could he ever feel, this kind of emotion for a second person.

    Xie Wei smiled helplessly.

    He truly was an idiot.

He had clearly fallen for Xu Ziyan a long time ago, yet he hadn’t noticed his own feelings, delaying and procrastinating for so long because of some ambiguous notions.

He whispered, “I like you too.”

This time, it was sincere, wholehearted, without any hesitation or wavering.

Xie Wei raised his hand, gently cupped the back of the youth’s head, and kissed him deeply.

When Xie Mu and her group rushed back from the company, Xie Wei had already changed Xu Ziyan into clean pajamas and coaxed him to sleep.

Before returning, Xie Mu had already learned about the incident from Uncle Yan over the phone. Now, seeing Guo Ran, covered in blood, being carried down from the second floor, she didn’t even blink.

Xie Linchun saw her son in such a miserable state, and her heart was bleeding, but in this situation, she didn’t dare to say a word, only watching with distress.

Xie Fu frowned, glanced at Guo Ran, who was slumped on the floor like a noodle, and looked up at Xie Wei, who was descending from the second floor. He said in a deep voice, “How is Little Xu?”

    Xie Wei replied, “He’s fine.”

Hearing this, everyone simultaneously breathed a sigh of relief.

Xie Mu was surprised, but mostly delighted. She already found Xu Ziyan adorable, and now she liked him even more. She could practically consider him her daughter-in-law. A slight smile appeared on her usually stern face. “That’s good…”

Xie Linchun’s sigh of relief was because her son, though foolish, hadn’t actually caused a major disaster. Otherwise…

She stepped forward, forcing a smile. “Brother, Sister-in-law, I’m truly sorry. It’s all because I didn’t raise this boy properly. When we get home, I will definitely teach him a good lesson!”

In Xie Linchun’s mind, since the deed wasn’t done, an apology should suffice. If not, paying some money would probably settle it.

Xie Mu saw through her petty calculations and sneered inwardly. Just as she was about to speak, Xie Wei spoke first.

“Cousin Aunt,” Xie Wei completely dropped his previous polite demeanor, his face turning utterly cold. His deterrent force was no less than that of Xie Fu beside him. “You don’t think this is just going to be brushed aside, do you?”

Xie Linchun involuntarily took two steps back, stammering, “Xie Wei, what, what do you mean?”

Xie Wei looked at the ignorant, panicked middle-aged woman in front of him. Thinking of the blood he saw in the room and Xu Ziyan’s miserable state, violence and coldness surged within him.

He didn’t answer but turned directly to Uncle Yan, who was standing beside him. “Call the police. Contact Officer Wei directly and tell him someone here attempted sexual assault.”

In ABO society, this was a capital offense! Xie Linchun’s face instantly changed, her expression unprecedentedly panicked. She dropped her previous pretense of a noblewoman and shrieked, “Xie Wei! He’s your cousin!”

Xie Wei didn’t even twitch an eyebrow, looking at her calmly and indifferently. “Since Cousin Aunt doesn’t know how to discipline him, then allow me to do it on your behalf.”

“What about, what about that Omega’s reputation?” Xie Linchun saw that Xie Wei was serious. Her thick makeup couldn’t hide her pale face. “You need to think this through. Once this gets out, whether it actually happened or not, he will be considered a tainted Omega from now on!”
