    Chapter Index

Initially, she thought it was simple. But the moment she confirmed the change with her own eyes, Shin Ju-hee’s expression hardened.

    Han Ga-yeon…?

The Dae-yeong Group had been a large corporation steadily expanding its size over several decades. It was a highly stable entity, showing no major disruptions even as it entered its third generation. This was because they adhered to a policy of only supporting non-heirs with money instead of equity, and strongly backing a single heir.

But now, to introduce a new name at a time when even aggressive support for the sole heir wasn’t enough… It was enough to make her wonder if the strategic planning office, which was overseeing the succession, had gone momentarily insane.

It was unlikely that a place where the nation’s most prominent talents gathered would collectively go mad. In that case, there was clearly a hidden intention.

Shin Ju-hee, who quickly regained her composure, murmured the new name.

    “Han Ga-yeon. So, Han Ga-yeon.”

First, seeing that her surname was Han, it seemed clear she was a member of the family, and since even the current chairman, Han Moo-jin, couldn’t block the inheritance, her influence must be quite strong.

Was she an illegitimate child of a direct descendant? Or perhaps of the founding chairman…?

Shin Ju-hee, thinking that far, suddenly remembered.

“Ah, Han Ga-yeon! The Dae-yeong Group’s youngest daughter!”

At the same time, she recalled what Lee Young-hwan had said. His words about there being someone from the Dae-yeong Group in the provinces. It occurred to her that it might have been referring to Han Ga-yeon. While hidden from those actively searching for information, it had been left exposed to the eyes of those not involved, so he had discovered it first.

    This is huge.

Shin Ju-hee sensed a major wave coming. Only by riding this wave would her position be solidified. Shin Ju-hee, a genius in money games who had never failed an investment, felt her intuition screaming powerfully.

Shin Ju-hee moved with unprecedented urgency. Her destination was Changwon. It was the very province Lee Young-hwan had reportedly visited.

    Slurp, slurp.

Sucking on the empty tube of the ice cream several more times for no reason was an attempt to avoid awkwardness. Jae-gu awkwardly rolled his eyes, quickly turning his head away whenever his gaze met Kwang-cheol’s.

Kwang-cheol wasn’t upset. Rather, he was happy. This meant that Jae-gu was at least conscious of him. The atmosphere was slightly different from before, when he had merely considered Jae-gu his younger brother.

All that was left was for Jae-gu to smoothly manifest as an Omega. A faint scent was already emanating from him, so he would be able to see Jae-gu as an Omega in a few months at the latest. Kwang-cheol secretly clenched his fist.

It was around the time the two, keeping an awkward two-span distance between them, were just turning towards Han Ga-yeon’s cafe.

“Hey there, students. Do you have a moment to help me?”

A woman in black sunglasses spoke to them. Her appearance, hidden by a long trench coat and hat that didn’t suit the hot weather, was suspicious. What made her even more suspicious was that she was dragging a large travel suitcase.

Unlike Kwang-cheol, who was reflexively wary, Jae-gu looked at the woman with a somewhat unenthusiastic expression. His lips subtly moved, but Kwang-cheol couldn’t discern what he was saying.

“This is my first time in this neighborhood, so I don’t know my way around very well. Could you perhaps guide me?”

It was such an old, worn-out trick that even a snot-nosed seven-year-old wouldn’t fall for it.

Kwang-cheol firmly grabbed Jae-gu’s wrist and tried to walk past as if he hadn’t heard her words at all. However, the grabbed Jae-gu didn’t follow.

    “Hyung?”

    “You go home first.”

    “…What about you, Hyung?”

“I’ll help that person and then go.”

Kwang-cheol’s eyebrows twitched briefly. He had experienced similar situations before. It happened when Han Yun-cheol came, and when Lee Young-hwan came. Jae-gu often did things out of his sight.

Was he trying to do that again this time?

    Kwang-cheol was reluctant about it.
