    Chapter Index

Shin Ju-hee nodded as if entranced. A businessman, whose face resembled a middle-aged Jae-gu, smiled broadly at Shin Ju-hee.

    ‘You’ve made an excellent choice.’

For a hallucination, it was disturbingly realistic.

Han Seong-cheol feared nothing in the world. Well, not absolutely nothing, but almost nothing. Even stuck in a backwater by accident and causing trouble, he wasn’t particularly intimidated.

Han Seong-cheol was a direct descendant of Dae-yeong, and among them, a rare Alpha. Honestly, he hadn’t for a moment considered that messing with an unruly Omega, oblivious to the world, would harm him. He figured he could just give them some money, the same way he’d resolved many situations before. If that didn’t work, he’d offer even more.

…That’s what he thought, but the problem erupted elsewhere.

Why was his aunt, who had supposedly left Dae-yeong long ago, here? And as the guardian of the Omega he had provoked, no less.

Han Ga-yeon’s declaration of return alone sent shockwaves through Dae-yeong’s shareholding structure, and the audacity of it—her son was even a Dominant Alpha.

For the first time, Han Seong-cheol tasted defeat. It was a bitter, spicy, and irritating flavor he never wanted to experience again.

“Exactly, if you’d just behaved, there wouldn’t have been any problems.”

Han Seong-cheol, swallowing his pride, had asked Han Yun-cheol to restore him to his original position, but Han Yun-cheol’s response was colder than expected.

“Just keep a low profile. If you ever want to come back.”

“Brother! ‘Later’? You said last time I only had to endure six months!”

“That was if you stayed quiet. Do you want to graduate from there?”

“Are you serious?! I told you I don’t fit in here!”

“That’s your problem to solve. Hang up.”

Han Yun-cheol’s voice was cold. It was clear from his obvious annoyance at even a short conversation that he wouldn’t answer his phone if called again soon.

That couldn’t be. Whether he liked it or not, Han Seong-cheol had no one to rely on but Han Yun-cheol at the moment.

“D-don’t do this. Don’t hang up. You said there was something to find out, right? If you tell me what it is, I’ll cooperate. So…”

    “Oh, that.”

Han Yun-cheol said lightly, as if it were truly nothing.

“I already figured it out. It was about our aunt’s whereabouts, and thanks to you, we found her quickly. Should I thank you for that, or just laugh…?”

Han Seong-cheol gnashed his teeth. He wanted to scream at the top of his lungs, but no words came out, as if his throat were completely blocked.

He vaguely knew that Han Yun-cheol was using him. He also knew that his mere presence in Changwon bought Han Yun-cheol time. If he had gained such an advantage, shouldn’t he help him now?

“…Brother, think carefully. I’m an Alpha. There are elders who would support me if I stepped forward, but I’m not doing it. This is all for your sake.”

It was half bluff, but even though he poked at the part Han Yun-cheol usually reacted best to, there was no response. Han Seong-cheol, suddenly anxious, called out “Brother” again.

    “Alright, then step forward.”

    “Brother, that’s not what I meant…”

“You seem to believe your uncles will help you, Seong-cheol, but I’m worried about you. If you still can’t grasp reality at your age, that’s just foolish.”

As if to make sure he heard, Han Yun-cheol muttered one more thing.

“Even a middle schooler who hasn’t learned any of this would be smarter than you.”

    “Brother! Hey, Han Yun-cheol!”

“Don’t just shout, think. This is sincere advice.”

Click. The phone disconnected. Han Seong-cheol, clutching his mobile phone and trembling, finally couldn’t hold back and threw it.

    Smash!

The sturdy mobile phone pierced halfway through the TV screen and got stuck.

“Do you think you’re the only one I can talk to?”

His uncles would listen to him. Either his eldest uncle Han Gyeong-jin or his youngest uncle Han Do-jin would try to help him.

What he was asking wasn’t even a big deal. He just wanted to be able to return to Seoul, so it was Han Yun-cheol who was being strange for not granting it.

Han Seong-cheol, fuming, went to look for his uncle’s phone number, then realized he had just broken both his mobile phone and the TV.

    “Ah…”

Even as he tried to scream, all the strength drained out of him. Nothing was going right.
