IRLPLBIO Chapter 34 Part 1
by BLReadsChapter 34 #8. Seoul Schools are No Big Deal (1)
He might just be a bit quick-witted. Or perhaps he’s intelligent, which created synergy. More than anything, Han Ga-yeon’s son couldn’t possibly be ordinary. He tried hard to suppress the suspicion that someone might be manipulating Kwang-cheol from behind.
“You said he’s a Dominant Alpha, right?”
“That’s right.”
“It seems he told you it’s fine to utilize your secondary gender.”
“…That’s right.”
There was a slight hesitation, but the answer was the same. At this point, Kwang-cheol could guess what Han Chang-hun was trying to say.
“To what extent does this ‘utilization’ go?”
“How far are you thinking, Grandfather?”
“Hahaha, you even know how to question me.”
Han Chang-hun’s eyes gleamed. He asked, pretending not to understand Kwang-cheol’s intention to only give instructions appropriate for a grandparent-grandchild relationship by deliberately calling him ‘Grandfather.’ A direct question, needing no circumlocution, landed squarely.
“Would marriage be possible with a family that has an Omega child? Since they are young now, an engagement would be fine for a start, wouldn’t it?”
This time, a quick answer didn’t come back. Kwang-cheol, after a slight pause, briefly called out, “Grandfather.”
“Speak your mind.”
“There is someone I care for.”
“Yes, I know. What if I promise to give that person a suitable amount too? No, no, since you’ve taken a liking to them, I could prepare not just a suitable amount, but enough capital for them to live a lifetime. Besides, how free-spirited are young people these days? If there’s an agreement with the main wife, taking them as a mistress…”
The chaebol family’s moral conscience was wallowing somewhere in the mud. Not only did they investigate Jae-gu, but they were also trying to manipulate him as they pleased.
Kwang-cheol, interrupting Chang-hun, emphasized clearly.
“I said, I care for someone.”
Kwang-cheol’s intention, as he drove each word firmly into his ears, was clear. If they didn’t grant what he wanted, he would bolt in a direction Han Chang-hun couldn’t predict.
Han Chang-hun, who had already lost Han Ga-yeon for over ten years, could not lose his grandson in the same way. When the typically unmoving man came all the way here himself, an imbalanced power dynamic had already formed between grandfather and grandson.
“…He truly is Ga-yeon’s child.”
“Thank you for the compliment.”
Even though he clearly knew it wasn’t a compliment, Kwang-cheol replied good-naturedly. That side of him seemed like his son-in-law’s, a side he hadn’t known, and Han Chang-hun clicked his tongue.
If anything improved with this incident, it was that the process of moving Han Ga-yeon’s family to Seoul sped up. And bringing Jae-gu up along with Kwang-cheol was no problem either.
Han Yun-cheol doubted his eyes as he checked Kwang-cheol and Jae-gu’s transfer application documents that had come to him.
There was nothing strange about Kwang-cheol. His clever and sharp younger cousin boasted a rank within the top few in the entire school. Even for a regional school, it was quite a good result.
However, the problem was Jae-gu.
“What on earth…”
Thinking his eyes might be tired, he massaged them and looked again, but the numbers hadn’t changed. The first digit of the average score was 5. Not 9, not 8, but 5.
Didn’t they say he was smart? Wasn’t he the guy who insisted he’d study, even at the police station? Is my memory somehow wrong?
Eventually, Han Yun-cheol, doubting his own memory, fumbled for his mobile phone. His fingers trembled as he pressed the numbers.
—Yes, Hyung-nim.
Jae-gu, unaware of the situation, answered the phone cheerfully. His words caught in his throat, Han Yun-cheol stammered for the first time since childhood.
“You, you… your grades… what on earth…”
—Haha, you must be surprised, Hyung-nim.
“…Seeing how nonchalant you are, it seems there was a mistake.”
—Oh, no mistake. How hard was it to raise my grades that much!
“You… raised them? This…?”
—Of course. I told you I studied hard. Oh, that’s right. If you’re worried that I’m too smart and might be a threat, you don’t have to worry about that. For me, as long as our Kwang-cheol does well, everything is fine.
“…”
Han Yun-cheol was speechless. To Jae-gu, who spouted the classic line about everything being fine as long as Kwang-cheol did well, he couldn’t bring himself to firmly say, “With your grades, you won’t even be an ‘i’ota of a threat, so don’t worry.”
But really, what on earth makes this guy think he’s so great? His scores are halved, and looking at his rank, there are over 300 people above him.
Even after agonizing, no answer came.
Would it really be okay to unleash a guy he absolutely couldn’t understand at his alma mater? In a school filled with only the most talented students, Jae-gu seemed likely to ‘excel’ in his own unique way.
Jae-gu recovered faster than expected. The scars were also smaller than initially expected. They said that because he manifested as an Omega just in time, his body underwent a reorganization, and in that process, even his wounds healed.
Jae-gu casually brushed off the difficult-to-understand explanation. Anyway, it was a good thing that his body was healing.
“Hyung-nim says he’s fine, so why do you look like that?”
Instead, he even checked on Kwang-cheol, asking if he was alright. He knew Kwang-cheol always worried about him, but even though Jae-gu said he was fine, Kwang-cheol’s pale complexion made Jae-gu worry even more.
“I had hoped there wouldn’t be any scars…”
“It’s fine since it doesn’t hurt.”
“Even so. When we go to Seoul, I’ll start by looking for a hospital specializing in scar treatment.”
“Huh? It’s a man’s arm, why would you care about something like that?”
“…Are you two going to keep me as a bystander until the day we leave?”
Hae-jun, beyond dumbfounded, asked in a voice that sounded as if he had attained enlightenment.
Jae-gu didn’t pay much attention to Hae-jun’s presence, and Kwang-cheol wasn’t particularly pleased with Hae-jun for breaking the tender atmosphere. Kim Min-jae, who had been observing the mood between them, tugged at Hae-jun repeatedly.
“It’s fine, I’m a bystander too.”
“Honestly, that’s not what I meant, is it?”
Even while dumbfounded, Hae-jun, whose mood had lightened, grabbed Jae-gu firmly. Hae-jun realized that the spot his hand landed on was quite alright. Thank goodness it was his shoulder; if he had grabbed Jae-gu’s arm, he might have been chased away by Kwang-cheol, who was shooting knife-like glares from the side.
“What are you trying to say, making such a fuss?”
“Jae-gu, listen carefully. When you go, you must, firmly, put strength in your eyes! Don’t keep using that soft Seoul accent! Firmly! Establish your presence and dominate the atmosphere…!”
“…Hmph.”
Jae-gu pushed Hae-jun away.
