IRLPLBIO Chapter 37 Part 1
by BLReadsChapter 37 #8. Seoul School is No Big Deal (4)
[Hyung, how is it there? Tell me if it’s hard to get by.]
[Mother also said it would be good to move to an upper class.]
[Please think about it.]
Kwang-cheol’s texts came in succession.
[I’m really fine. I even made friends.]
Jae-gu, now quite accustomed to the folder phone, quickly typed out the message. He seemed to care only about having made friends, not at all bothered by having made enemies within 30 minutes of school starting.
As Jae-gu was engrossed in his text, a water bottle was suddenly held out next to him.
“H-here, drink this.”
“Oh, thanks.”
He thought, ‘How kind, they even opened the cap,’ and guzzled the water without a second thought. Just as he thought, ‘The taste is a bit strange?’ Choi Eun-ho shouted “Hey!” from beside him. Startled, Jae-gu spit the water back out.
“Cough!”
“What are you doing! That’s dangerous!”
“Dangerous?”
His chin and the front of his uniform were wet from the half-spit water. Jae-gu roughly wiped it with his palm and shook his damp hands.
The guy who had handed him the water bottle was already running far away. It seemed he wasn’t from the same class.
Choi Eun-ho snatched the bottle and smelled it. It wasn’t the usual water smell; there was a strange, foreign scent. It also seemed like something cloudy had settled at the bottom of the bottle.
Choi Eun-ho’s eyebrows shot up.
“You’re already surrounded by dangerous guys, how could you know what was in here…! D-dangerous…”
His voice, which had been rising, eventually dropped again. It was the timidity developed from long-term oppression. Nevertheless, his intention to warn Jae-gu out of concern for his safety was clear.
Choi Eun-ho was good-hearted after all. He was the one who, even among the F-class students, had been the first to approach and get close to Jae-gu, who was so low in “rank” that no one else spoke to him.
Jae-gu grinned.
“Those crazy bastards must be pretty desperate.”
Their unnecessarily quick actions meant they were wary of him. Jae-gu interpreted their desperate attempts positively.
If they’re resorting to such tricks, I’ll probably get called soon.
He leaned back leisurely and thought.
Though the school was ridiculously vast, the places where one could do things out of sight were limited. Previously, the old gym, which had become unused after a new one was built, was Jae-gu’s main stage.
…Exactly 30 minutes later, Jae-gu stood in the very place he had anticipated.
Kwang-cheol frowned as he looked at Jae-gu’s reply.
‘Friends? In a place like this?’
Before coming here, Kwang-cheol hadn’t thought much about Jae-gu’s friends. Most of them were Betas, and they never looked at Jae-gu in any other way. Especially Hae-jun, Jae-gu’s closest friend, was a friend in the truest sense of the word; he would support Kwang-cheol rather than ever cast an inappropriate glance at Jae-gu.
But now, the situation was different. This was a jungle-like world where profit came before friendship. The possibility of this “friend” being a decent person, or genuinely wanting to befriend Jae-gu, was low. If it was someone who approached him on the very first day, it was even more reason to be wary.
Moreover, Jae-gu was an Omega. Although he had lived as a Beta throughout his previous school and only manifested his secondary gender at the end, he had already manifested by the time he came here. His Omega secondary gender would be noticed before his name, Yang Jae-gu.
That’s why he had said F-class was dangerous.
Kwang-cheol gnawed at his innocent lips. Kwang-cheol’s aura was not just subdued, but chilling.
Classmates who were curious about the new transfer student lingered, unable to approach, only circling from a distance. Not only had he skipped a grade, but Kwang-cheol had instantly risen to the top class in A-class and was so cold that it was difficult to gather the courage to speak to him casually.
The one who broke the silence was a member of B-class. He confidently strode across A-class and tapped Kwang-cheol’s desk, drawing his attention.
“Have you thought about it? I think it would be good for both you and us if you joined the Alpha Club.”
Unlike his gentle tone towards Kwang-cheol, his gaze around the room was cold. His actions revealed his belief that even though he was in B-class now due to the size of his family’s business, he would surpass those in A-class once he inherited the company as an adult. It was typical behavior of someone who believed in the superiority of their secondary gender and the bonds among Alphas.
Interrupted in his thoughts about Jae-gu, Kwang-cheol’s expression grew even stiffer, annoyance added to his mood.
“…I told you I’m not interested.”
“You might not know it now. But listen, the Alpha Club has a tradition. When you go out into society, you’ll definitely need help from club alumni and seniors. Since there are people from the business world, politics, law, and medicine, you can think of it as building your network…”
The guy speaking suddenly lowered his voice, as if something just occurred to him.
“Oh, and there are Dae-yeong people too.”
Kwang-cheol looked up. Thinking he had shown interest, the guy chattered on excitedly.
“Even if Alphas are rare in the direct line, if you go to the collateral branches, there are members from our club. Just one year above, there are two people from your side.”
“One year above?”
“Of course! In fact, they said they’d show us something interesting today, didn’t they? Try attending, even just once. It’ll be an experience you couldn’t buy anywhere else.”
The twins he referred to as “Dae-yeong people one year above” were quite famous within the Alpha Club. While Han Seong-cheol was present, they were relatively quiet, but after Han Seong-cheol went to the provinces, they proactively engaged in several activities. These were highly stimulating events for teenagers with raging hormones.
He carefully tread the line, recounting all sorts of exciting things to ensure Kwang-cheol didn’t show aversion. Stories about how much fun and excitement there was to be had in the Alpha Club, and how many secret and covert things went on, continued endlessly. He couldn’t speak directly, so he spoke vaguely, but the children around him seemed to understand everything.
He smiled proudly. If he could only get Kwang-cheol to join the club, his own standing would greatly improve.
Even in the Alpha Club, composed solely of Alphas, Dominant Alphas were extremely rare. What if he was the one who had brought in such a rare Dominant Alpha, especially Kwang-cheol, who had refused to join the club?
