Chapter 39 #9. The Law is Close, But Fists Are Closer (1)

He couldn’t even think of Choi Eun-ho’s trembling, shaky voice as amusing. Even though Choi Eun-ho’s limbs were visibly shaking, the guy felt a spirit emanating from him. Choi Eun-ho’s trembling was now an expression of anger and excitement, not fear.

He had cowered, run away, avoided, and endured, but they had never once shown him mercy. Their cunning violence and ostracism had isolated him even in Class F.

But when Jae-gu stepped in and stirred things up, didn’t they scatter like this?

Jae-gu was right. There was nothing that couldn’t be solved with power. And he had power he could borrow.

Hoooof, Choi Eun-ho took a deep breath and tensed his abdomen.

“The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office will make a move.”

“No, why would the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office get involved in a fight between minors…?”

“I said that if we dig into the families you’re so proud of, everything will come out.”

    “…”

“Tax evasion, breach of trust, embezzlement, hiding slush funds, everything will be investigated.”

Is this really worth going that far?

    The guy was stunned.

All they did was provoke a recessive Omega from Class F, right?

If anything, their families’ influence would help them, not let things unfold as Choi Eun-ho expected. According to the common sense the guy had learned so far, that was how it would be.

But looking at Choi Eun-ho, whose eyes gleamed terrifyingly, he began to think that his words might be true. Even if they were in Class F here, their families might be influential enough outside. There might be someone who could pull strings with a prosecutor from the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office.

At once, the guy changed his attitude.

“Still, this is just between us… there’s no need to drag adults into it. I’ll apologize for everything, I’ll compensate you!”

“It’s fine. I have no intention of letting you off with a slap on the wrist for something like school violence.”

Choi Eun-ho, whose father was Choi Hyeong-gyu, an “upright prosecutor” and deputy chief set for promotion to Head of the Anti-Corruption Investigation Department, the flower of the prosecution, spoke with conviction until the end.

Before, he had only thought that leaning on his father’s authority was shameful. He believed he couldn’t make his incorruptible father pull strings because of him. He couldn’t be his father’s weakness.

However, when Choi Eun-ho called, half-sobbing, his father immediately stepped forward without a second thought. Choi Hyeong-gyu’s instincts screamed that he had to grant his son’s request right away. He felt an almost certain conviction that if he refused, his son would die.

To save his only son, he could set aside the honor of being an “upright prosecutor” for a moment. Choi Hyeong-gyu ordered targeted investigations into several corporations. Crimes like tax evasion, which blurred the lines with tax-saving, and breach of trust, which could be interpreted however one pleased, now meant that any fault found would lead to immediate incarceration.

    “You, you… are you crazy?”

The guy barely managed to ask.

    “Me? Why?”

Choi Eun-ho’s eyes gleamed eerily. His expression suggested: since you guys used force first, what’s the problem with me crushing you with force? It also implied that the guy wouldn’t be lonely, as he wouldn’t be the only one.

Choi Eun-ho, grinning, looked genuinely pleased. The guy shuddered as if he had seen something truly terrifying.

Inside the gym, they couldn’t tell what commotion was happening outside. Jae-gu’s body gave out. Park Kwang-cheol’s arm firmly supported him as he was about to collapse.

“My little brother, you’ve grown up…”

“…Hyung, you have a fever. And your pheromones are released right now…”

“Hmm? Oh… right, lend me some settlement money…”

Jae-gu couldn’t quite understand what Park Kwang-cheol was saying. He didn’t know about pheromones, but he knew Park Kwang-cheol smelled good. The repulsive odor that had completely filled the gym was receding from around Park Kwang-cheol.

It felt like a fresh breeze had blown into the middle of a dump, gently caressing him. As he inhaled the refreshing scent, his foggy head gradually cleared.

Heehee, Jae-gu chuckled slightly and buried his nose in Park Kwang-cheol’s embrace, chasing the pleasant scent.

    “Hyung, Hyung…!”

“Just a little. I’ll just stay like this a little longer.”

    “…”

Naturally, Park Kwang-cheol couldn’t refuse Jae-gu’s words. Jae-gu’s pheromones, which had been releasing excessively, gradually calmed down while he was in contact with Park Kwang-cheol.

Jae-gu’s scent was like a flower that had bloomed after a harsh winter, becoming even more potent. An excessively sweet fragrance inadvertently entered Park Kwang-cheol’s open mouth. Though formless pheromones, it felt as if they had touched his tongue for a moment.

    “…!”

Park Kwang-cheol flinched and stiffened. He tasted a sweetness so intense it was almost crushing. Hundreds, thousands of flowers seemed to bloom in his mouth, vying for attention.

Countless scents tapped his palate and massaged his tongue. Pheromones were merely chemical substances that stimulated the nervous system, yet Park Kwang-cheol’s Adam’s apple moved on its own, as if he were consuming tangible food.

    He swallowed.

A part of what made up Jae-gu had entered his stomach. He felt an astonishing sense of fulfillment.

Overwhelmed, Park Kwang-cheol momentarily lost control of his body. He forgot how to move his limbs, fumbling awkwardly, before regaining proper movement a moment later.

Park Kwang-cheol unfolded his stiff hands and carefully rubbed Jae-gu’s back. Wrapped in Park Kwang-cheol’s gently released pheromones, Jae-gu’s breathing gradually returned to normal.

As soon as Jae-gu regained his senses, he counted how many guys he had punched in the face. Those with broken teeth were especially important, as dental treatment was more expensive than bone fractures.

    “…I’m screwed.”

Jae-gu clutched his head as he recalled the results. Forcibly grabbing at his half-fading memories, he remembered the sight of several guys’ teeth flying through the air. All in all, it looked like at least ten Implantes would be needed.

When Jae-gu was older, the cost of Implantes had dropped significantly, and insurance covered them, but at this time, the word Implante itself wasn’t well-known. Each one would cost at least five hundred.

    “10… 5,000… Ah, this is insane…”

I should’ve hit them more gently!

He tore at his hair with utterly pointless regret. He didn’t regret beating those bastards, but it stung to have to pour the cost of an apartment into those bastards’ mouths.

    No, not a whole apartment, maybe half an apartment…? A two-room place…?
