    Chapter Index

His stomach felt like it was boiling with emotions that were growing larger and larger. Intense possessiveness mixed with thick emotions, gradually transforming into something darker.

    Thump, thump, thump.

Kwang-cheol’s heart pounded violently, as if it would burst through his chest. At some point, with every beat of his heart, an uncontrollable scent erupted as if exploding.

It couldn’t be described with words like wind or water. Pheromones, akin to a natural disaster sweeping everything away, violently dominated the space. Not only phenotypical individuals but even non-phenotypical individuals could feel the abnormality.

A stormy night sea unfolded. Fierce waves grabbed at their ankles. In an instant, the senses of those dragged into an ethereal place went awry. Submerged in the fantastical sea, their breath was choked off.

It was impossible to control the scent that poured out like mad. Kwang-cheol, clutching his chest and gasping, met Jae-gu’s eyes. The widening eyes, the gaping mouth, the outstretched arms were all directed solely at him.

Sounds echoed muffled, as if underwater. Kwang-cheol, who had collapsed almost on top of Jae-gu, had his vision completely filled with Jae-gu.

Kwang-cheol, pressing down on Jae-gu with his entire body, felt his nose touch Jae-gu’s nape. A flower, a very large flower, spreading its scent even underwater…

“Get a grip… on yourself! Damn it… hey, Park Kwang-cheol!”

Jae-gu grabbed Kwang-cheol’s hair with one hand, pulling his head up, and slapped Kwang-cheol’s cheek with the other. Even in that moment, he spread his hand wide, worried that a punch might dislocate Kwang-cheol’s jaw.

    Smack!

Even though he was lying underneath and couldn’t put much force into it, Kwang-cheol’s cheek instantly swelled up like a steamed bun. Focus returned to Kwang-cheol’s clouded eyes.

    …Yes, this is Yang Jae-gu.

And he was likely the only one Jae-gu would hit first and then look at with such worried eyes.

It was strangely satisfying. Immediately after a faint smile, Kwang-cheol’s consciousness abruptly cut off.

Han Yun-cheol received a summons from his father after a long time. Usually, Han Moo-jin would only relay messages through a subordinate, but this time he had contacted him directly.

Han Yun-cheol, feeling an unconscious tension, stood before the Chairman’s office. The company atmosphere was as usual, but the secretaries seemed busier than normal.

He glanced at those hurrying back and forth. Before seeing Han Moo-jin, they would usually inform him if there was anything he needed to know in advance.

However, none of them approached Han Yun-cheol first. This meant either Han Moo-jin’s summons was not a big deal, or Han Moo-jin had silenced them in advance, or Han Moo-jin was looking in a different direction than Han Yun-cheol.

With an inexplicable unease, Han Yun-cheol opened the heavy door of the Chairman’s office.

“Please, just this once, big brother. Aren’t we from the same family? For the sake of our second cousins… they’re still just kids, they don’t know what they’re doing, so…”

    “How foolish. That’s enough.”

    “B-big brother! Big brother!”

Click, Han Moo-jin hung up the phone, meeting Han Yun-cheol’s gaze. It was clear he had been speaking on speakerphone deliberately to let Han Yun-cheol hear it, timing it with his arrival.

Han Yun-cheol’s spine stiffened under the sharp gaze. He found it laughable that he, at his age, still got nervous like a child in front of his father, but then felt a sense of unease from the rebuke in his father’s eyes.

Han Moo-jin spoke abruptly, without even offering Han Yun-cheol a seat.

    “Summon Seong-cheol.”

Han Moo-jin didn’t explain in detail. He was someone who didn’t need to persuade or make others understand.

However, even Han Yun-cheol, who had observed Han Moo-jin longest as both son and subordinate, couldn’t immediately grasp the meaning of this command.

    “Father.”

“It’s not enough to merely be an Alpha. One must be an Alpha who can exert influence.”

Han Yun-cheol racked his brain to extract information from the brief statement.

He had only thought that if trouble arose, it would be Jae-gu, but unexpectedly, there might have been a problem on Kwang-cheol’s side. Kwang-cheol was so mature that he hadn’t consciously realized it, but his overly powerful secondary gender, despite his young age, was indeed a risk factor.

He had brought Kwang-cheol in to keep an eye on Han Seong-cheol, but now both of them were so close. Even if they weren’t yet at a threatening level, it bothered him like a stone in his shoe.

“…I can’t just stand by and watch Ga-yeon’s son stir things up as he pleases.”

Han Yun-cheol agreed with Han Moo-jin’s words. Neither Kwang-cheol nor Seong-cheol should attract more attention than himself.
