    Chapter Index

One of the enraged fathers, belatedly realizing that he should be grabbing Jae-gu rather than his own son, seized Jae-gu by the collar. Jae-gu, who intended to let them vent their anger to some extent, readily allowed himself to be caught.

However, one of the Alpha punks shrieked and flailed as if having a fit, stopping his father.

    “Daaad!”

    “What? Let go!”

    “Don’t do it!”

A spectacle unfolded where their sons, broken and bruised in various places, desperately tried to pull away the middle-aged men who were red-faced with anger. Jae-gu tilted his head from side to side and grinned.

“Alright, then, let’s discuss this slowly. Very slowly.”

It was the lawyers’ turn. Im Ho-sin, who had been waiting quietly, opened the hospital room door. Choi Eun-ho and the class president walked in, looking very tense, having waited in the hallway.

    “Who are you guys now?”

The group of enraged fathers raised their voices at the class president, as if venting their anger.

The class president quickly grasped the situation by glancing around the hospital room. Living as the class president of F-class, he had become accustomed to reading situations and understanding the atmosphere.

As Jae-gu had said on the first day, he had crushed authority with force. If so, he too had to keep his promise to stand on Jae-gu’s side.

“I’m here to tell you who was in the wrong. If you’re going to court, I’ll testify too. Because I’ve seen and heard a lot while being the class president.”

The class president said clearly, his intelligent eyes gleaming. He had quickly decided how to act, realizing the correlation between violence and power.

“That one must bow before greater power, is what the Alpha Club kids taught me first.”

There was a time when the Alpha punks used those very words as a weapon to lord over others. So, now that a greater power had appeared, it wasn’t strange for them to switch their allegiance to a new master. After all, they were the ones who first taught F-class to bow to the higher classes.

However, the Alpha punks glared at the class president, who was at least easier to deal with. For them, blaming others was easier than admitting their own faults.

Naturally, Jae-gu, having no intention of just letting it slide, lightly kicked their feet with the tip of his shoe. That alone made the Alpha punks flinch in terror and lower their eyes.

“Jae-gu, Jae-gu was trying to help me. Because those guys bullied me!”

Choi Eun-ho, having finished his full body examination, couldn’t suppress his excitement, his cheeks flushed. Despite being told that his body was covered in bruises, from old ones fading to yellow to fresh, dark blue ones, his expression was bright. It was because he knew his painful times were finally over.

    “These… these pea-brained punks…!”

The enraged father, looking around frantically, turned his attention to the class president. He had realized that the class president was an easier target than Jae-gu, who had no sense of propriety, or Choi Eun-ho, whose father was the deputy head of the Central Investigation Department of the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office.

A man of power, an elder.

The class president, under these two pressures, faltered for a moment. Jae-gu quickly stepped between them.

“Old man. If you break your bones at your age, they won’t heal quickly.”

    “…!”

“So, let’s talk this out, hmm?”

People should know how to listen when spoken to nicely.

Jae-gu moved his hands, making a ‘thwack, thwack’ sound, as if dusting off the father’s clothes. For a guy who’d be the first to throw a punch rather than talk if things went wrong, to advocate for non-violence—the enraged father was so dumbfounded and flustered that he was speechless.

Only after the other side’s momentum had been halfway broken did Im Ho-sin step forward.

“Did you hear that? The story is that Yang Jae-gu’s intentions were good. I think we’ll need to resume our discussion from that point.”

It was Jae-gu who would charge in headfirst before even thinking about intentions, but seeing it wrapped up nicely, he became triumphant.

“I’ll just leave the rest to Im Ho-sin.”

Jae-gu clenched both fists and struck a fighting pose. Im Ho-sin responded with a knowing smile and a thumbs-up, while the Alpha punks, who were needlessly terrified, started hyperventilating.
