Chapter 34: Rescue or Better Not Sleep

Fire raged through the experiment building.

Yue Hang was strapped into the capsule, his face ashen. His mental power was being rapidly drained to power the mecha. This was a form of punishment Yu Wan Yao had devised, said to have originated from the military. Human mental power was an excellent nutrient for mecha. Whenever a Black Market subordinate made a mistake, they would be locked in the experiment building to “feed” the mecha. The duration could be a few hours or as long as four or five days. Those with weaker mental power often died on the spot.

He hadn’t expected Yu Wan Yao to be so ruthless this time.

However, there had been clues. His Shenfeng exploration team had been underperforming, and he hadn’t taken Yu Wan Yao’s repeated warnings to heart, focusing instead on protecting his teammates’ lives. Furthermore, after recruiting Liang Huan, the latter had shone brightly. Yu Wan Yao probably had the idea of replacing him. After all, he and Yu Wan Yao weren’t of one mind…

The other members of the Shenfeng team were extremely anxious but dared not act rashly, fearing they might hurt Yue Hang inside. Just as everyone was in a state of panic, Liang Huan walked in, carrying a crowbar.

“Excuse me, everyone, please make way.” He spoke very politely.

Lu Biao’s face turned pale. Deng Meng and the others stood there in stunned silence.

Chen Jia, who had run in from behind carrying a fire extinguisher, was frantically spraying the experiment capsule. Liang Huan directly reached out and pulled Yue Hang out of the experiment capsule. Deng Meng helped support Yue Hang, “Captain, Brother Liang would never sit idly by.”

Chen Jia breathed a heavy sigh of relief and gave Liang Huan a thumbs up, “Brother Liang, I’ve never seen anyone dare to open an experiment capsule with a crowbar in my life. I’m truly impressed this time.”

Yue Hang looked at Liang Huan with mixed feelings. Liang Huan smiled, “Don’t say such sentimental things. Let’s get out of here quickly.”

In the exploding firelight and the roar of the mecha, darkness quickly swallowed the thin light in the hovercar. A warm sensation came from his palm. He met Liang Huan’s gentle and calm gaze and heard Liang Huan’s voice with a hint of a smile:

“Li Yao, are you ready to live and die with me?”

He finally realized belatedly—he had been royally played by Liang Huan.
