IRCDM Chapter 63
by BLReadsChapter 63: Memories Are Good
The dark muzzle of a gun was pointed at Chuan Wu’s brow.
Chuan Wu slowly opened his eyes.
In the slightly messy laboratory, circuits ran rampant, various experimental equipment and parts were casually placed on the ground without any protective measures, a bionic robot was squatting on a fully loaded console drinking durian-flavored engine oil, and a fighter jet-shaped mecha hung upside down from the ceiling, polished to a bright shine. However, the exposed wiring was even more complicated than the survival environment on this planet, making one’s head spin.
And the owner of all this was sitting cross-legged in his wheelchair, with a cigarette in his mouth and a gun in his hand, looking like he was about to blow his brains out at any moment.
“You’re very clever.” Chuan Wu was tied to a cold, abandoned pipe, probably due to Li Yao’s twisted sense of humor. The rope bound him upright, as if he could stand up on his own.
Li Yao twirled the gun in his hand, looked up and exhaled a puff of smoke towards the ceiling, then looked at him with no expression.
“I thought you would at least come to the lab to find me.” Chuan Wu said to himself, a hint of nostalgia in his expression, “Perhaps we can make another deal, just like seven years ago.”
“Being cut open once is enough, I don’t want a second time.” Li Yao said vaguely with a cigarette in his mouth.
“When did you remember?” Chuan Wu was a little curious, “I hope you tell the truth. In New Era 129, the news of you being salvaged back to this planet was all over the place. But two months later, you ran to my doorstep covered in injuries, barely alive—I remember very clearly, that day was New Year’s Day in New Era 130, the first vacation I had since I started working, and you ruined it.”
Li Yao laughed, “I had no choice, the military, the Administrative Court, and the Dawn Corporation, so many people, you were the kindest. Who else would I look for?”
“…” Chuan Wu closed his eyes, “Because of you, I’ve been under surveillance by various parties for so many years. Although I obtained valuable research data by helping you with the surgery, that data was stolen by Experiment No. 1 of Group Two after they escaped two years later, making all my efforts come to nothing.”
Li Yao sighed regretfully, “What a pity.”
“You have to answer the question, Li Yao.” Chuan Wu said with a headache, “Don’t always try to divert my attention, and don’t always make me pity you.”
Li Yao was shocked, “Uncle Chuan Wu, I spent half my childhood playing in your lab. It’s hurtful for you to say that.”
Chuan Wu said expressionlessly, “When you came to me, your brain’s memory block was severely damaged. I suspect you tampered with your own memories in space, but the method was very crude. You came to me to help you fuse the Black Box of the Dawn Project with your body, and even voluntarily accepted heteromorph gene modification. The price was providing your own bone marrow for me to study high mental power functional disorders. But after the surgery, you went back on your word and killed a bunch of my top researchers.”
Li Yao shrugged indifferently, “You were the one who broke your promise first, trying to forcibly extract the Black Box.”
Chuan Wu lowered his voice, “I was helping you. As long as you hand over the Black Box, you can completely get away from those people in the military.”
“Don’t be naive. If I hand over the Black Box, I’ll be the first to die, and you and Yi Heng Bai will be the second, in no particular order.” Li Yao said with a playful smile, “Use your brain.”
Chuan Wu was almost speechless at his words.
He was silent for a long time before speaking, “I can’t tell which of your words are true, but for your mother’s sake, at least let me die knowing why.”
The smile on Li Yao’s face slowly froze.
The muzzle was pointed directly at Chuan Wu’s heart. Chuan Wu said calmly, “It doesn’t matter if you kill me. Anyway, I won’t live long. Experiments have proven that even the bone marrow of Dawn Star cannot suppress high mental power functional disorders. As time goes by, all humans on this planet will die from this condition, without exception. Eventually, humanity will be doomed.”
Li Yao stared at him with an ambiguous expression, laughed, “Back then, I floated in the rescue capsule for more than a year before I managed to repair my body. After I detected the signal from the space salvage team, I realized that it was mixed with several advanced heteromorphs. Then I completely understood that the failure of the Dawn Project was not accidental, so I performed a small surgery on my own brain.”
Chuan Wu said, “You’re really brave.”
“You can’t survive without being brave.” Li Yao tapped his temple with the muzzle of the gun, “The surgery was rushed, but fortunately you taught me well. Only when my mental power level recovers to a stable B-grade will it trigger the memory anchor point, reminding me of what I should remember.”
Chuan Wu suddenly understood, “No wonder the military and the Dawn Laboratory did so many experiments on you without any effect. You even fooled yourself.”
Li Yao spread his legs and stepped on the overturned Rhine case in front of him, resting his arms on his knees, listlessly holding the gun in one hand, and said lazily, “I had no choice. You have to pretend to be stupid with smart people, or they won’t let you go. I learned it from Yi Heng Bai.”
Chuan Wu laughed, but coughed halfway through, blood spilling from his nose and ears.
Li Yao skillfully grabbed a bottle of spray and threw it to Second, who was drinking engine oil and watching the show. Second stepped forward and sprayed it on Chuan Wu’s face. Soon, Chuan Wu calmed down.
“Use your brain less. Your little body is too fragile to handle it.” Li Yao said with some disgust.
Chuan Wu’s brain was racing. He stared at Li Yao, “You were salvaged back to this planet in November of New Era 129. In January of New Era 130, you escaped from the military and came to me, asking me to help you deal with the Black Box. On March 2nd, you ran away as soon as the surgery was over. The official data says you woke up on May 2nd of New Era 130. What did you do during those two months after escaping from the underground lab?”
Li Yao said solemnly, “Thinking about life.”
Chuan Wu clenched his back teeth. Second interjected at the right time, “Mr. Chuan Wu, you can scold him if you want. I often want to scold him too, but my program doesn’t allow it.”
“Tsk, little robot, watch your words.” Li Yao picked up a screw and hit Second on the back of the head.
Second touched his head aggrievedly and squatted back to the console to lick the remaining durian engine oil.
“My mom only has so much face with me. It would be impolite to ask any more questions.” Li Yao adjusted the rocking mode of the wheelchair and lay half-reclined on it, swaying. “Now it’s my turn to ask you.”
Chuan Wu said, “Ask away.”
Li Yao narrowed his eyes, “Did Liang Huan send you?”
“No.” Chuan Wu denied it very firmly.
Li Yao raised his eyebrows, “Isn’t he your Experiment No. 1 of Group Two?”
“He is my most perfect experiment. He doesn’t even look like a modified heteromorph, but more like a living person.” When it came to his experiments, Chuan Wu became visibly excited, “You don’t know how perfect he is, but such a perfect work escaped because of you.”
“Although I’m happy you’re complimenting my wife,” Li Yao said unhappily, “How does his escape have anything to do with me?”
Chuan Wu’s face was ugly, “The night you escaped, you passed by my lab and fired a shot at his culture pod.”
Li Yao looked blank, “Why would I shoot your culture pod for no reason?”
“I want to know! Your brain was a mess at the time, why did you have to shoot his culture pod of all things!” Chuan Wu was so angry that his eyes went straight, “Originally, the first thing he should have seen after his mental source woke up was me! I am his creator!”
“Ah.” Li Yao frowned and recalled.
His head was throbbing badly at the time.
In fact, every nerve and every bone in his body ached. The lost memories were gone, but the full of resentment and hatred had not diminished. After killing people, he walked out of the lab covered in blood, and cut out the military chip on his arm with a knife. He was already extremely disappointed with the military. He forcefully pressed the stop button, and hid the chip behind the door’s identification system. He even took the time to imagine the anger and shock of the military people when they searched here and found the precious chip casually inserted behind the peephole. It gave him a little thrill.
He picked up a gun and killed anyone he met along the way. In his eyes, these were all modified heteromorphs, all culprits who caused the death of his brothers. Even if he killed them all and went to military court, he would never plead guilty.
He stumbled forward, passing by a strange laboratory – at least, in his mushy brain, which had just had bone marrow extracted and memory surgery, each culture pod was floating with various human bodies and organs, emitting a white fluorescence, like the last bizarre fantasy before a person died.
He staggered, knocking over many instruments, frowning as he looked at these experimental subjects, his stomach churning and nauseous.
Perhaps the best way was to help them end this long and hopeless suffering.
Thinking this, he raised the gun in his hand and aimed at the curled-up human body inside the pod. It should be a fifteen or sixteen-year-old boy. Even with his eyes closed, one could tell that he was very good-looking. His long black hair floated behind him like seaweed, so beautiful that it made one’s heart flutter.
Li Yao breathed heavily. He dragged his riddled body, smelling the scent of disinfectant and blood, raised the gun and aimed it at the experimental subject’s brow, his eyes cold, but an uncontrollable sadness and pain spreading in his heart.
This world is bad, those who want to live can’t live, and those who want to die can’t die.
He pulled the trigger.
The boy in the culture pod suddenly opened his eyes, looking at him coldly and disdainfully, as if looking at the ants struggling in the mortal world.
Bang!
The culture pod exploded instantly, the culture fluid pouring out, and a piercing alarm sounded in the laboratory.
The pungent smell of blood and culture fluid intertwined. He lay on his back on the broken glass, his tattered military uniform entangled with wet black hair. The bloodstains on the boy’s face were bright. He leaned over Li Yao and reached out to touch Li Yao’s wet eyelashes.
“Are you crying?” The boy looked down at him, his imposing manner.
Li Yao overturned the person, and hearing the surrounding movements, he wanted to run, but after thinking about it, he pulled off the tattered cloak and threw it over the other person’s head.
“Cry your ass off.” He cursed and remembered to act cool. He slicked his wet hair back, dragged his crippled body, carried a gun and killed in all directions, rushing out of the underground laboratory alone.
Even if it hurt to death, he had to drive an open-top convertible hovercar to escape, and finally didn’t forget to set off fireworks in the night sky and give Chuan Wu the finger, to show respect.
…Memory ended, Li Yao covered his eyes with slight pain.
“Can’t remember clearly.” He quickly changed his face and looked at Chuan Wu accusingly.
He was indeed telling the truth. Probably because his brain was missing arms and legs and didn’t have much brain pulp at the time, his memory was unclear. He saw Liang Huan in the culture pod but didn’t see him too clearly. He only remembered that the other person was so beautiful that he glowed. Probably because of the current filter – in fact, if he hadn’t matched the number now, he wouldn’t have remembered what the other person looked like at all.
Chuan Wu said, “Liang Huan likes you, it’s just the imprinting phenomenon of an experimental subject.”
Li Yao was shocked, “Impossible, the first thing he saw was my gun.”
Chuan Wu: “…”
Li Yao’s shoulders were shaking with laughter.
Chuan Wu gritted his teeth, “Alright, you didn’t capture me just to reminisce, right?”
Li Yao rubbed his aching temples with the gun, and when he looked up, he seemed to have shed the disguise of playfulness and revealed his true appearance.
His tone was indifferent, “Besides me, one hundred and twenty members of the vanguard team, what exactly did they die from?”
—
Eastern Third District Administrative Court.
A thin, skin-like translucent chip was removed by nanomachines. The size of half a fingernail, it was placed on a plate. If you didn’t look carefully, you would hardly notice anything.
Wang Le Ren was shocked, “Is this the latest technology?”
“Li Yao’s thing.” Liang Huan got up and buttoned his shirt, grabbing the coat next to him.
“Oh, that’s not surprising then.” Wang Le Ren nodded.
Liang Huan looked at him.
Wang Le Ren laughed dryly, “His brain works well. It’s not surprising if he comes up with anything. When he took the university entrance exam at thirteen, you didn’t see how those schools were fighting over him. They weren’t schools, they were bigwigs from various industries who went to block him, saying that as long as he chose their industry, they would teach him personally – but it was a pity they couldn’t beat those military thugs. They directly pulled the mecha troops over and set off fireworks at his window. How old was Li Yao at the time? As soon as he saw the mecha, he couldn’t move. His uncle couldn’t keep him in the lab. He insisted on going to the Mecha Department of the Central Military University to register.”
“With his brain, he would be top-notch in anything he did. The East District base can suppress other human bases. Even if the mecha level is lower than before, it is now at least fifty years ahead of other bases.”
Liang Huan: “…In that case, why does the military still restrict him so much?”
Wang Le Ren sighed, “Deputy District Chief, don’t you understand? A genius like Li Yao, if he is on the same side as humans, is called a trump card, but if he is not on the same side as humans, then he becomes a heavy nuclear bomb that can destroy this planet at any time. The most serious problem now is that no one knows what Li Yao is going to do.”
Liang Huan smiled, “Director Wang, I didn’t expect you to see it so clearly.”
Wang Le Ren instantly broke into a cold sweat, “Hahaha, that, I just have some feelings, haha, have some feelings, don’t take it seriously.”
Liang Huan looked at him with a smile, “When you tell me these things, are you hoping I will save Li Yao, or hoping I will kill him?”
Wang Le Ren waved his hands repeatedly, “Hey, you’re making it sound serious. I’m just an ordinary doctor. It’s my duty to treat illnesses and save people. I don’t understand anything else.”
Liang Huan smiled, “Got it, go and be busy.”
Wang Le Ren ran away without stopping.
Deng Meng said in a low voice next to him, “Brother Liang, what exactly does this Wang Le Ren mean?”
“He wants to protect Li Yao, probably because he thinks he’s scammed too much money from Li Yao.” Liang Huan said.
Deng Meng puzzled, “I still don’t understand. Brother Liang, you trust Brother Li so much, why doesn’t he want to stay?”
Liang Huan lowered his eyes and looked at the thin chip, “Just now Wang Le Ren said that this chip has been on me for at least a month. It should have been put on me when my high mental power functional disorder broke out before, when Li Yao took advantage of my coma.”
Deng Meng: “Ah?”
“I have never trusted him, and he has never really trusted me.” Liang Huan said, “He is only willing to stay because he wants to use my hand to lure Chuan Wu out and reap the benefits himself. At least now, the focus of the military and various forces has fallen on the East Third District Administrative Court. In their eyes, I am already bound to Li Yao, and the East Third District has shared at least half the firepower for him.”
Deng Meng subconsciously felt uneasy, “Then how should we clear ourselves of these suspicions?”
“Why clear ourselves?” Liang Huan picked up the chip, and the memories in his mind began to slowly recover, “I have spent so much effort before and after, just to finally make him show a little bit of his fox’s tail. The good show is yet to come.”
When Mao Ming was called to the roof, he was slightly uneasy, until he heard the familiar frequency of the military chip in the air, then he breathed a sigh of relief without leaving a trace.
Liang Huan was looking at the scenery of the East Third District with his back to him, and said when he heard the sound, “Uncle Mao, thank you for your hard work.”
Mao Ming was silent for a moment, “It’s not hard, I’m just a little surprised.”
Liang Huan turned around with a smile, “Surprised by what?”
Mao Ming said, “I didn’t expect you to be Minister Lin Chen.”
The smile on Liang Huan’s face deepened, “I just used a little trick, don’t mind.”
Gene modification of appearance is an ability given to him by the experimental subject, but this ability is too useless, it consumes mental power and takes a lot of time, so he usually doesn’t show his face much when he appears as Lin Chen, and Mao Ming thought from beginning to end that Liang Huan was a spy of Lin Chen’s subordinates.
As Liang Huan, he mixed into Yi Heng Bai’s people, and then used Pei Zhong to pretend to be an ordinary spy sent by Yu Wan Yao to Li Yao’s side, full of loopholes, but enough to make Li Yao relax his vigilance.
For smart people like Li Yao, just the right amount of stupidity and loopholes are the safest tricks.
The only accident was probably when he entered the training ground. Because the protective cover of the training ground was poorly constructed and the radiation value was too strong during maintenance, it caused severe and continuous disturbances in his mental power, and accidentally exposed his true identity in his previous life.
Fortunately, no one would believe it.
Liang Huan looked at the external chip on his wrist. The time he truly transmigrated was March 2nd, New Era 130, a full seven years earlier than now. But he didn’t have time to be shocked that year, and he didn’t have the good luck to directly meet Li Yao. He spent two years running out of Chuan Wu’s lab, and then tried to enter the military. In order to avoid Chuan Wu’s tracking, he even rarely used his mental source…
He looked at the person firing the gun in the screen with some regret. If he had transmigrated and married Li Yao, perhaps the story could have really developed like this.
Unfortunately, there is no such assumption.
“Minister Lin, do you still remember what happened when your mental power was disturbed?” Mao Ming remembered all the previous things, and his face was a little distorted. It was difficult to connect “Liang Huan” and “Minister Lin Chen”. After all, Minister Lin went to the Small Panda Takeout base to pack lunch boxes and accused Li Yao of domestic violence to his co-workers. If it was said, the military could laugh for a whole year.
Well, it’s even more horrifying that Minister Lin was called “wife” by Dawn Star – everyone knows that the person in the entire military who most wants to kill Dawn Star is none other than Minister Lin Chen.
Liang Huan was strangely silent for two seconds: “…I don’t remember at all.”
Mao Ming breathed a sigh of relief instantly.
That’s great, Minister Lin shouldn’t increase his determination to kill Dawn Star because he was ashamed.
“Then will the Dawn Project II continue to be implemented?” Mao Ming reminded him in a timely manner, “That most critical military chip has already been crushed by you. Although we have a backup chip, it has already aroused Li Yao’s vigilance.”
Liang Huan said calmly, “This matter will be discussed later. The most urgent task now is to take down the Dawn Laboratory.”
Mao Ming nodded, “Understood.”
Liang Huan obviously had no intention of reminiscing. After Mao Ming contacted his superior, the big stone in his heart finally fell to the ground, and he left with a light pace with the mission.
Liang Huan pondered for a long time, looking at the various files in the external chip, and opened the special encrypted folder inside. Just when he was expecting some important information inside – even if his mental power was disturbed, he should instinctively record important information – his and Li Yao’s holographic dynamic kissing picture was unexpectedly enlarged in front of his eyes.
In the sofa of Chuan Wu’s lab, Li Yao was holding a cigarette, with a sly smile on the corner of his mouth, approaching to pass him a cigarette.
Liang Huan tilted his head slightly, as if to avoid Li Yao in the picture, sighed with a headache, and swiped to the next picture – he and Li Yao seemed to be on a strange bed, kissing dimly, the lace suspender hanging on the head of the bed looked strange.
He stubbornly swiped to the next picture, it was Li Yao naked from the waist up handcuffed to the head of the bed, and there were bells hanging on it…Liang Huan’s eyes darkened.
Further down was Li Yao lying on his back on the desk, Li Yao taking off his clothes, Li Yao…each picture was like a dynamic image cut from some private video.
Liang Huan closed his eyes and reached out to touch his left eye, taking out a thin pupil lens from inside. This was a monitoring chip he had spent a lot of money to build before the mission. In order to facilitate his access to the Dawn Laboratory to collect evidence, he even integrated Chuan Wu’s pupil module, and could take screenshots or videos with special mental power fluctuations, but no matter what, the original intention was to save important evidence anytime and anywhere.
Instead of making it easier for himself to take erotic photos of Li Yao during the period of mental disorder.
At the thought that these pictures were almost transmitted to the military headquarters’ analyzer, the calm and composed Emperor almost crushed the pupil lens.
What an outrage.
He took a deep breath, put the pupil lens back on, and began to look at the photos of Li Yao killing people, quickly washing his eyes.
The chip suddenly vibrated, he answered, and Yue Hang’s voice sounded, “Mu Bo and Shuang Ta are awake, they both want to see you.”
Due to the special identities of Mu Bo and Shuang Ta, they were placed separately in rooms filled with special instruments, enough to suppress their sudden mental power outbursts.
Lu Lian stood in the corridor with Pu Lan. Seeing Liang Huan coming over, Lu Lian directly showed Liang Huan two capture orders.
Liang Huan glanced at the military seal on it, “What do you mean?”
“Deputy District Chief Liang, according to existing laws, if any modified heteromorphs, mutants, or zombies that do not belong to the breeding base and training ground appear in the East District Human Base, the military has the right to dispose of them.” Lu Lian said with a cold expression, “I’m just informing you, the vehicles transporting the two of them are waiting outside the Administrative Court building.”
Liang Huan raised his hand to block the capture order in front of him, “They are my bred, the military has no right to capture.”
Lu Lian said coldly, “Illegal breeding, Liang Huan, do you want to go to court?”
Liang Huan smiled and looked at him, “Mu Bo and Shuang Ta are all the property of the regular breeding base of the East Third District Administrative Court. The military’s approval procedures have just come down, Deng Meng.”
Deng Meng trotted over and put out the approval document, “Officer Lu, look, fresh seals, from your military.”
Lu Lian’s face darkened, “This is impossible.”
“There’s nothing impossible.” Liang Huan raised his hand and knocked on the two capture orders, “If you owe the military 100 billion condensed coins, they will also approve it for you.”
Lu Lian pulled out Deng Meng’s chip and carefully stared at the approval document. After a few seconds, he sneered, “Mecha Department – you really can’t get rid of Lin Chen.”
“The department in charge of breeding procedures was just merged into the Mecha Department at the beginning of this year. This belongs to the normal process.” Liang Huan smiled, “Officer Lu, don’t be impatient, don’t be so anxious to do things.”
Lu Lian gritted his teeth, “You dare to play me?”
“How could I, I sincerely want to cooperate with you.” Liang Huan wanted to pat his shoulder, but he dodged him abruptly.
Liang Huan smiled, “Isn’t the entire Dawn Laboratory more useful than a small mutant?”
Lu Lian clasped his hands together and clenched his gloves, expressionlessly, “No need, one lesson is enough, I won’t be fooled by you a second time. Pu Lan, let’s go.”
“Yes, sir.” Pu Lan followed closely behind him, glanced at Liang Huan inadvertently, and hurriedly chased after him.
Liang Huan opened Mu Bo’s door with a smile.
Mu Bo rushed out like a gust of wind, and his long hair almost slapped Liang Huan in the face. Liang Huan quickly pressed his shoulder, “Go back.”
Mu Bo’s eyes were red, and he turned to look at him, “Your spouse has run away, don’t you let me chase after my spouse either?”
The hand that Liang Huan pressed on his shoulder remained motionless. The terrible strength of the super-class heteromorph seemed to be nothing to him. He easily pressed Mu Bo back into his seat, “Lu Lian is not a good match for you.”
Mu Bo frowned, “I like him.”
“You don’t even know what liking is.” Liang Huan, like a feudal patriarch, cruelly denied the transparent heteromorph’s love, “I let you find a safe place to sleep and heal, did you lose your mind while sleeping?”
Mu Bo’s whole body stiffened, and he shrugged his nose imperceptibly, squinting his eyes and saying, “You remembered everything?”
“Or wait for you to kill all the people in the East Third District and build a nest?” Liang Huan smiled slightly.
Mu Bo’s back felt cold, and he turned his head to look aside in a sullen mood.
Liang Huan took him out of the lab, not because the two were “brothers”, but only because Mu Bo was the most capable fighter among a pile of experimental subjects. Mu Bo called him brother not because he was younger than him, but because he was beaten into submission. As a result, he willingly acted as a thug, half because he was fooled by Liang Huan’s sweet words, and the other half was simply because he was afraid of Liang Huan’s force.
He finally found Liang Huan. It was an unexpected surprise not to be beaten up. Later, he found that Liang Huan seemed to be a little unclear, so he simply went along with the flow and planned to fool Liang Huan in turn, so that he agreed to build a nest and find a human fornicate to give birth to children, and expand the race – but so far, it seems not very successful.
His wife has run away.
Useless boss.
Liang Huan said earnestly, “How many times do I have to tell you, modified heteromorphs can’t have children, don’t be obsessed anymore.”
“How do you know if you don’t try?” Mu Bo supported his head with one hand, with a smile on his face, “Sooner or later, I will destroy humans, destroy this planet, and strengthen the heteromorph race.”
Liang Huan sighed.
Ten minutes later, a pool of transparent heteromorphs curled up in the corner, shivering, and the next door Shuang Ta was lying on the wall with both hands and feet listening to the movement of beating the heteromorphs next door, laughing wildly.
The next second, the door of his room was opened.
This time it took less than ten minutes for the mutant to kneel in the corner honestly, covering his mental source that was almost crushed, and looking at Liang Huan with some fear in his eyes.
“You…what exactly are you?” Shuang Ta’s fear was obvious.
“An ordinary human being.” Liang Huan looked down at him.
Shuang Ta laughed noisily, “If you have the ability, kill me! I’m a mutant and I won’t die! I want to take back Chuan Wu!”
Liang Huan’s ears ached from his laughter, he tilted his head slightly and said, “That the mutan
