LRAPTC Chapter 14
by BLReadsChapter 14 Rainy Day (4)
After such a commotion, Shen Jue’s remaining hunger disappeared. He thought about it and still went to the kitchen to heat himself a glass of milk and drank it.
When taking off his messy coat, Shen Jue suddenly remembered the business card he had casually stuffed into his pocket. He subconsciously searched for it, only to find that it was gone. It must have fallen out unintentionally during the chaos just now.
However, Shen Jue didn’t really care. He had never thought about pursuing performance-related work, and he wouldn’t contact Chen Huang in the future either. Shen Jue simply didn’t like facing the camera for long periods of time. Although Chen Huang looked regretful at the time, Shen Jue thought to himself that even a famous director’s judgment could be occasionally wrong, which was why he came to ask him.
Shen Jue entered Chen Huang’s name on the internet. The first news item that popped up said that Chen Huang’s latest movie had been scheduled for release. To express his apology for losing the business card, Shen Jue decided that he might go to the cinema to support it when the time came.
After that day, Shen Jue noticed that Ji Yuanan became busier. Often, when Shen Jue woke up, Ji Yuanan had already left. He would stick a sticky note on the refrigerator, indicating today’s breakfast and telling Shen Jue to remember to eat it in time. These words were probably written in a hurry, so they were very brief, except that every time he would write “Remember to eat” at the end, which became a habit.
When Shen Jue saw it, he would tear off the sticky note to indicate that he knew. The next morning, a brand new and completely different sticky note would appear there. Occasionally, Shen Jue would also replace the sticky note, writing down the breakfast he wanted to eat the next morning.
On this day, Shen Jue tore off the sticky note that ended with “The salad dressing is used up, I replaced it with ketchup, I don’t know if you will like it?” and sat down at the dining table with his food as usual.
After breakfast, Shen Jue took a sticky note to reply to Ji Yuanan. When he took the sticky note, he suddenly realized that the somewhat thick notepad already showed obvious signs of being used. But Shen Jue was not really sure how long their tacit understanding had lasted.
In the afternoon, Shen Jue took the watering can to water the flowers in the yard. A few days ago, Ji Yuanan suddenly brought back a pile of forget-me-not flower seeds that someone had given him. Shen Jue couldn’t find him downstairs for a long time, and later found that Ji Yuanan was staying in a small corner of the yard, preparing to plant those seeds.
Shen Jue looked at the dark brown soil and watched Ji Yuanan plant the seeds in the flower pots. For the first time, he had the idea of wanting to try it. Ji Yuanan didn’t care, and felt that if Shen Jue was willing, the entire yard could be messed around with by Shen Jue. As a result, the task of taking care of these flowers eventually fell on Shen Jue’s head.
Originally, it was just a whim. At first, Shen Jue just completed the daily tasks driven by a sense of responsibility. He didn’t expect that he would really like this task later. In order to take better care of these plants, Shen Jue gradually began to understand these different types of plants and their habits. Some flowers cannot be exposed to sunlight for a long time, so he regularly moved them into the house one by one. Under Shen Jue’s careful care, after a few days, the tender green seedlings of forget-me-nots began to slowly break through the soil.
Shen Jue finished watering the flowers and casually put the spray can aside and went into the house. It was almost dinner time. Shen Jue found a pack of noodles in the cupboard and made two bowls of clear soup noodles for dinner.
When Ji Yuanan arrived at the door, it was completely dark. When he opened the door, the first thing he saw was Shen Jue curled up on the big sofa in the living room, napping with his eyes closed. The room was not lit. Ji Yuanan thought that Shen Jue had probably gone to bed early. He gently took out the book that Shen Jue had opened under his hand, without waking Shen Jue, put the book aside, and took a thick blanket to cover his whole body.
About half an hour later, Shen Jue woke up leisurely. The blanket slid down his body. He subconsciously grabbed it and realized that there was a blanket out of nowhere on his body, and the book he hadn’t finished reading before going to bed had also been moved and was now on the table.
He took off the blanket and picked up his phone to take a look. A few hours ago, Ji Yuanan had told Shen Jue on WeChat that there was a sudden problem with the company and he couldn’t come back in time, so Shen Jue didn’t have to prepare his dinner. Unfortunately, Shen Jue was already asleep at the time and didn’t see it.
And now, Ji Yuanan looked like he was back.
Adhering to the principle of not wasting food, Shen Jue finally knocked on the door of the blanket owner with a bowl of clear soup noodles. Ji Yuanan said “Come in”, and Shen Jue pushed the door open and entered. Ji Yuanan was lying on the table, wearing glasses, his eyes fixed on the computer.
“I cooked a bowl of noodles, do you want to eat some now?” Shen Jue asked.
“Thank you.” Ji Yuanan’s gaze finally moved away from the electronic screen. He took off his glasses and put them on the right side. Shen Jue added: “Also, thank you for the blanket.”
Ji Yuanan’s movement of preparing to pick up the chopsticks paused slightly. The noodles in front of him were still very hot, and steam was constantly rising from them. He looked at the rising water vapor and said, “You’re welcome, I’m sorry about… today, I will try to avoid it in the future.”
Shen Jue shook his head, “You don’t need to apologize, there are always some situations that are unpredictable and unavoidable. You should eat the noodles quickly.” He urged Ji Yuanan.
Ji Yuanan ate after hearing this. Shen Jue glanced at the surroundings with the corner of his eye. The wall behind Ji Yuanan was a large bookshelf, filled with colorful books, covering a wide range of content, which Ji Yuanan had sorted and put away. Shen Jue also saw that there was a transparent floating globe in the upper right corner of the bookshelf, next to a hardcover commemorative edition of a book that Shen Jue liked very much. He had not been able to buy that version before.
Shen Jue stared at the hardcover book, a little tempted, and couldn’t help but ask: “The books in the bookshelf behind you…”
“If you want to read them, you can take them as you like.” Ji Yuanan replied easily and generously, easily acquiescing that Shen Jue could enter his room and take his things at will.
Even if he heard Ji Yuanan say this, Shen Jue didn’t take it too seriously. He wouldn’t enter Ji Yuanan’s private space just because of Ji Yuanan’s words. So he was just surprised and said thank you.
Shen Jue made a simple bowl of noodles delicious. In addition, Ji Yuanan didn’t have time to eat dinner, and later barely ate something to fill his stomach, so he was really very hungry. Therefore, Ji Yuanan quickly finished the bowl of noodles.
Seeing this, Shen Jue was about to pick up the bowls and chopsticks to leave, but Ji Yuanan quickly stopped him and said, “You can leave it there, I’ll take it down to wash later.”
“I have something I want to tell you.” He added.
