LRAPTC Chapter 17
by BLReadsChapter 17: Business Trip (3)
The camera shook for a moment before stabilizing. Ji Yuanan finally saw Shen Jue on the phone screen. Shen Jue was wearing a rather revealing top, a large expanse of his back exposed, with only a black ribbon securing it.
Ji Yuanan had seen similar outfits on other occasions, worn by people with naked and direct gazes, full of blatant implications. But Shen Jue’s expression was as pure as could be. Unlike those people, he was simply earnestly waiting for Ji Yuanan to provide assistance. Shen Jue was different.
So Ji Yuanan picked up the water glass at hand and took a sip to cover his emotions, his eyes never leaving the screen. He calmly said, “I don’t really know either, Shen Jue.” Then he put down the glass. “I haven’t worn clothes like that.”
Shen Jue understood. After all, he hadn’t really expected to get help from Ji Yuanan. It was just that Ji Yuanan happened to call, so he asked casually.
It seemed there wasn’t a better way than asking someone else for help. Shen Jue didn’t want to waste any more time chatting idly, so he said to Ji Yuanan, “I still have some things to do, so I’ll hang up first. Can I call you back when I’m done?”
“Okay.” After a moment, Ji Yuanan slowly said.
Shen Jue belatedly felt regret and didn’t notice Ji Yuanan’s hesitation. He quickly said “goodbye” to Ji Yuanan and hung up the phone decisively.
He opened the door of the dressing room. Zhao Youming’s assistant had been waiting outside. Hearing the door open, she saw Shen Jue leaning against the doorframe, and he softly asked her, “Hello, can you help me with the ribbon on my back?”
This outfit was unexpectedly suitable for Shen Jue. During the break, Shen Jue sat back in the seat he had chosen. Zhao Youming was looking at the photos just taken. Shen Jue’s back was to the camera, completely exposing his back, the bow tied at the end hanging down naturally.
The condition of Shen Jue’s skin was crystal clear in the high-definition lens. Zooming in, you could even see a small mole on the lower right side of Shen Jue’s shoulder that was usually invisible. Shen Jue himself didn’t even know it existed, but it later became Ji Yuanan’s favorite spot to kiss.
The assistant couldn’t help but peek at it for a while, then turned to look at the real person. Shen Jue was still wearing that outfit, docilely curled up in a corner drinking water. She quietly asked Zhao Youming, “Brother Zhao, can’t we really snag Teacher Shen to be a model?”
Zhao Youming’s eyes quickly scanned the screen. Hearing this, he replied, “I can’t decide that. Maybe…” He suggested, “You can try asking him yourself, can’t you?”
The assistant knew that this was a dead end and said nothing. From being hastily pulled to change clothes to the shooting, Shen Jue had been very obedient and cooperative, and he would do all the poses requested of him, but she could tell that Shen Jue had no interest in this at all.
Zhao Youming smiled, looked at the time, and urged, “Go tell Shen Jue to get ready to change into the next outfit.”
The assistant sullenly agreed and got up to leave, but Zhao Youming spoke again, “Don’t be so gloomy. I’ll treat you to dinner later, okay?”
Ji Yuanan waited for Shen Jue’s call all morning and afternoon. Shen Jue believed he had considered everything carefully. After having lunch with Zhao Youming outside, it was almost two o’clock, past lunchtime, and most people had returned to work. So he dismissed the idea of contacting Ji Yuanan now.
To express his gratitude, Zhao Youming personally drove Shen Jue back. On the way, Zhao Youming casually mentioned Ji Yuanan. Shen Jue leaned against the back of the car seat, swiping his fingers across the screen, browsing the latest hot news, such as a certain company going public. Hearing this, he lazily replied, “He’s on a business trip.”
Ji Yuanan should be focused on work at this time, so Shen Jue still chose not to contact him.
In the evening, when it was completely dark, Shen Jue finally returned the call to Ji Yuanan.
Ji Yuanan answered quickly, as if he had been waiting for a long time, and picked up the phone the moment it rang. At first, Shen Jue thought it was because Ji Yuanan was too idle, but when he saw Ji Yuanan appear on the phone screen, wearing glasses and typing on the keyboard, he realized that Ji Yuanan was actually very busy, but his phone happened to be nearby, so he answered the call quickly.
“Are you still working?” Shen Jue asked.
Ji Yuanan was connected to Bluetooth, and he felt that Shen Jue’s voice was close at hand, like a whisper next to him, revealing a hint of imperceptible laziness. His typing hand paused for a moment, and then he responded, “Yes.”
Shen Jue felt really bad and decided to be more considerate, so he thoughtfully asked, “Will it disturb you? Should I hang up first and talk when you’re free?”
“No need.” Ji Yuanan quickly said loudly.
He gave another suggestion, “It’s okay, let’s just leave it like this. I’m so bored alone, you can just say a few words to me occasionally. Okay? Shen Jue.”
“Okay.” Shen Jue nodded.
Ji Yuanan received a positive response and seemed to smile very softly. But it was fleeting and not noticed by Shen Jue.
With Ji Yuanan’s permission, Shen Jue was still afraid to disturb Ji Yuanan, and he was careful when turning the pages of his book, afraid to make too much noise. He finished the last chapter and closed the book.
Ji Yuanan was still working at the computer. Shen Jue remembered their conversation a few days ago, so he tentatively asked, “Ji Yuanan, you said a few days ago that I could borrow your books freely, does that still count?”
“Of course. What I said is always valid.”
“Then I’m coming in.” Shen Jue got up.
The camera’s view shook constantly as Shen Jue moved. Shen Jue entered the room, put his phone on the desk, and began to look for the book he wanted to read.
Shen Jue looked through the books on the bookshelf one by one. Finally, Shen Jue picked a science fiction novel and took it back to his bedroom.
Opening the book, Shen Jue found that Ji Yuanan had made various notes in the blank spaces, and some sentences were highlighted by Ji Yuanan with a light blue highlighter. Shen Jue was silent again, reading attentively.
He didn’t know how much time had passed. When Ji Yuanan finished his work, Shen Jue seemed to have forgotten the existence of this phone call, immersed in his own world, without making a sound.
Ji Yuanan called out to him, “Shen Jue.”
“Yes. I’m here.” Shen Jue turned the page of the book and asked, “Are you done with work?”
“Yes.” After a few seconds, he said again, “Shen Jue, you haven’t said much just now.”
“Sorry, I was reading just now.”
Ji Yuanan suddenly began to regret his previous promise. He thought that if it weren’t for these books, Shen Jue might have spared some time for him. But he was also very clear about the importance of books to Shen Jue, so he stopped thinking about another possibility, but heard Shen Jue sincerely say to him, “It won’t happen next time,” in the next second.
Shen Jue’s voice seemed to come from a very far away place. Throughout this call, Shen Jue had never shown his face. Listening to Shen Jue’s voice, Ji Yuanan could even imagine Shen Jue’s expression when he said this.
“I just thought it might disturb your work and distract you, so I didn’t say much.” Shen Jue continued to explain to him, easily making his mood better, and the previous ten hours or so no longer seemed so unbearable.
Later, the two chatted about some irrelevant topics. Shen Jue noted the page number and simply closed the book, seriously talking to Ji Yuanan. He talked about his experience this morning.
When mentioning Zhao Youming, Shen Jue asked Ji Yuanan, “Do you remember Zhao Youming?”
The friend who attended the wedding. Shen Jue said at this time, “He came to the wedding last time, you met him once.” Ji Yuanan would certainly not forget, and did not need Shen Jue to remind him. He listened quietly as Shen Jue briefly summarized the events of the morning, and then said, “So, you ended up having lunch together?”
Shen Jue said “yes,” because Zhao Youming took the initiative to treat, so they went to a nearby restaurant. Li assistant was in a bad mood and ordered a lot of desserts in retaliation. She couldn’t finish them all by herself, and half of them ended up in Shen Jue’s stomach.
Speaking of this, Ji Yuanan seemed to be amused by something and the corners of his eyes curved into a smile across the cold screen.
It was a smile from the heart. Shen Jue was stunned for a moment, forgetting what he wanted to say next, so he didn’t speak for a long time.
“Shen Jue, did you think it was delicious?” Ji Yuanan suddenly asked.
“… I liked the shrimp dumplings.”
After a few more seconds of silence, there was nothing else to say. Shen Jue glanced at the time in the upper left corner, it was very late, so he hurriedly ended the topic, told Ji Yuanan to rest early, and then hung up the call. The speed was too fast, so Ji Yuanan didn’t have time to say “We can go eat together in the future,” so he had to give up.
[The author has something to say]
Recently, there have been a lot more experiments on weekends, and the speed of writing is also very slow, so it will probably be stopped for a while. During this period, some manuscripts will be saved. It will not be a pit, it will not be a pit, it will not be a pit.
