    Chapter 25: Truth (End)

Ji Yuanan saw the seriousness in Shen Jue’s eyes. He had long known that Shen Jue was earnest when he said these words.

What should he do? Ji Yuanan wondered. He realized that he still very much wanted to kiss Shen Jue. So, he gently brushed his thumb across Shen Jue’s lips and then asked, “May I?”

Shen Jue silently criticized Ji Yuanan’s belated gentlemanly behavior in his heart, but ultimately obediently nodded, acquiescing. He decided to be a little more proactive and leaned closer.

The two were already very close, almost touching, when a knock suddenly sounded.

Interrupted midway, Ji Yuanan couldn’t complete the kiss. His expression instantly turned impatient, and his brow furrowed slightly, already quite displeased with the sudden interruption.

Seeing this, Shen Jue first said nothing, cupped Ji Yuanan’s face, and planted a fleeting kiss, then said, “Alright, can you go open the door now?”

“I’ll wait for you here,” he added with a smile.

Ji Yuanan could only reluctantly go to open the door.

Shen Jue waited quite a while in Ji Yuanan’s office. He even wandered around the office, exploring every corner, and finally returned to look at the ceramic cup on the desk, the only object Shen Jue was familiar with. He stared at the cup, recalling what the secretary had said not long ago – that this cup was likely made by Ji Yuanan himself. He smiled, thinking that Ji Yuanan was actually much better at giving gifts than he was.

Lost in thought, Shen Jue fell asleep on the desk.

Ji Yuanan finished discussing the project with the other party and it was already noon. He patiently saw the collaborator off, then turned and strode towards the office. When he reached the door, he suddenly stopped and turned to ask the secretary, “Are there any recommended restaurants nearby?”

The secretary looked at her boss’s serious expression and almost instantly understood the underlying meaning. She quickly searched her mind for restaurants that met the requirements: first, it had to be delicious; second, the environment had to be beautiful; and ideally, it should be suitable for a date. She gave the name of a restaurant.

That day at noon, they still went to the restaurant recommended by the secretary for lunch. Just a short while ago, Shen Jue had been woken up by Ji Yuanan. Not fully awake, he had been taken advantage of by Ji Yuanan, who held his hand. They had held hands like this many times before, all for show, but this time the meaning was completely different.

Later, the receptionist at the front desk saw the two walking out the door holding hands and belatedly realized that the handsome guy who had come to see Ji Yuanan was Ji Yuanan’s lover. It was the first time she had seen him in person. When she looked again, the two who were walking quickly had completely disappeared from her sight.

After the meal, Shen Jue was sent home. While he was unaware, all the forget-me-nots had quietly bloomed. A few minutes later, Ji Yuanan received a photo from Shen Jue, the screen filled with the blossoming blue flowers.

Ji Yuanan had many work arrangements that day and didn’t return home until late. But Shen Jue wasn’t asleep. The lights in the living room on the first floor were still on, and Shen Jue was sitting on the long sofa watching TV, waiting for him to return.

As soon as Ji Yuanan entered the door, he immediately stepped forward and hugged Shen Jue. Shen Jue was caught off guard by the tight embrace and was a little dazed, but quickly wrapped his arms around Ji Yuanan’s waist. Only at this moment did Ji Yuanan truly feel that Shen Jue was not going to leave. He gently rested his head on Shen Jue’s shoulder and tentatively said, “Let’s go on vacation?”

Shen Jue had been honest with him during the day, confessing that he had been in an accident several years ago and lost some memories, including the stories that happened with Ji Yuanan at that time. But it didn’t matter.

Ji Yuanan thought again, it didn’t matter. Even if Shen Jue had forgotten their previous times, they still had a long time ahead of them.

The vacation destination was quickly decided, and they agreed to depart when Ji Yuanan had some free time. Sometimes, Shen Jue felt that the progress between them had become fast and urgent all of a sudden, as if because they had wasted too much time before, they didn’t want to waste another minute now. They had completed all the steps in just a few days.

Zhao Youming only found out several days later. Shen Jue and Ji Yuanan were the strangest couple he had ever seen. He recalled a report he had seen a few days ago that said Ji Yuanan attended a charity gala with a female companion, with Shen Jue nowhere to be seen, which hinted a marital change.

There was no sign of any marital change at all, Zhao Youming thought, knowing the truth. They were clearly in their honeymoon period now.

Shen Jue and Ji Yuanan, who were in their honeymoon period, had already left the city by plane. For the first time, Shen Jue had the idea of recording everything with a camera. Before leaving, he bought a small, portable camera on a whim.

On the first day of arriving at the island, Shen Jue discovered that the sea here was very different.

While staying on the island, Shen Jue often fiddled with his newly purchased camera, taking pictures of the clear glass-like sea in front of him, the tall coconut trees nearby, and the glittering starry sky at night. Any scene could become his subject.

At this moment, Shen Jue was sprawled on the lounge chair, flipping through the photos in the camera. He was so engrossed that he didn’t notice Ji Yuanan approaching.

Ji Yuanan cast a shadow beside him. Shen Jue finally put down the camera and looked up at him. Ji Yuanan was against the light, half in light and half in shadow, the bright half glowing. Shen Jue was stunned for a moment, forgetting to move. Ji Yuanan’s kiss landed.

That night, Shen Jue lay on the soft bed, the lamp above his head emitting a faint light. He looked at the lamp and suddenly recalled the night he married Ji Yuanan. At that time, he had waited for a long time, but Ji Yuanan did not come, as if he was very dissatisfied with him as a marriage partner. He once thought that he and Ji Yuanan could not last long in the future.

Ji Yuanan turned off the light, and then Shen Jue felt Ji Yuanan gradually approaching him. Then he thought, but they were together in the end.

Even if there were misunderstandings in the middle, they still had each other in the end.

Thinking of this, Shen Jue raised his hands and hooked them around Ji Yuanan’s neck, then leaned close to Ji Yuanan’s ear.

“Tonight, you can do anything to me,” he said, word by word.

    End

    [Author’s Note]

In the beginning, I decided to write this because of the wedding scene at the beginning, so everything seems quite rough. I said I would finish it last winter, but I didn’t… but fortunately, I finished a story I really liked in the hot summer.

I had a lot of fun writing it, so I hope everyone who reads it does too.

Thank you all for reading this far and leaving comments (bows).

Afterward, I plan to write an extra chapter from a small Ji perspective. If I do, I might release it. (Or if there’s anything you want to see, feel free to send me ideas on my Weibo. I might not write it (crossed out))

Finally, thank you again for reading this far.

(By the way: The next book I want to write is a childhood friends’ band story. It won’t be released soon. This time, I want to save up some drafts before releasing it.)
