SABA Chapter 1
by BLReadsChapter 1 Chapter 1 [The other party has enabled friend verification, and you are not yet…
The smell of disinfectant was exceptionally strong. Jiang Tiao didn’t know what was wrong with his head; it was buzzing and throbbing with pain.
“Fortunately, you were on the same flight. Otherwise, I don’t know what would have happened.”
“I really don’t know what this little idiot sees in that fool. I wish I could stuff him back into his mother’s womb and have his brain remolded!”
The man’s voice was filled with a sense of frustration and disappointment. Jiang Tiao groggily opened his eyes.
Two tall men stood by his hospital bed: one dashing, the other stern. They were his beloved elder brother and his childhood friend, Huo Shen.
Except…
His brother had a dark expression, and his childhood friend, who had always treated him with the warmth of a spring breeze, was also looking at him with indifference.
Jiang Tiao sat up with a jolt. He fumbled and touched his forehead, which was completely wrapped in bandages. His large eyes were filled with terror. “What happened to me? Did they diagnose me with a terminal illness?!!!!”
He had just finished the grueling senior year of high school, filled out his college applications, and was about to embark on a wonderful university life. How could he get a terminal illness at a time like this?! Was heaven too cruel to him? Too heartless!
Huo Shen was slightly taken aback.
Jiang Mingyan was furious and immediately launched into an angry scolding: “You’re worried about having a terminal illness? Haven’t you already given your life to that idiot?!”
The ahoge on Jiang Tiao’s head stubbornly poked out from the bandages. His big, clear black and white dog-like eyes widened. He looked innocently at Huo Shen beside him and said earnestly, “Huo Huo, I think you need to help my brother find a doctor. His dear brother is lying in bed after a car accident, and he’s yelling at me. Is it because he’s under too much pressure from taking over the company that his endocrine system is out of balance?!”
“You called me what?!!”
Jiang Mingyan’s expression was one of utter shock, as if he had seen a Large A share stock that had hit the limit up for ten consecutive days.
“Brother, brother, haven’t I always called you that since I was little?” Jiang Tiao hesitated for a moment, unusually. Could the trendy thing of body-swapping have happened to him?
Jiang Tiao quickly reached for the phone on his bedside table to use as a mirror. He looked and was disappointed. “What a shame, it’s still my fair face with big eyes. Although I’m a bit haggard, I’m still the handsome me!”
Huo Shen’s brow furrowed. After a long silence, he finally spoke his first words since Jiang Tiao woke up: “You said you were in a car accident?”
“What else could it be? Wasn’t it a taxi that had a car accident on the overpass?”
Huo Shen and Jiang Mingyan exchanged a look, their expressions unreadable.
The doctor did come, but it was a neurologist.
Jiang Tiao was surrounded by a group of experts, undergoing one examination after another.
The experts finally determined that apart from the loss of four years of memory and a slight concussion, Jiang Tiao had no other neurological problems.
“So, I lost four years just by closing and opening my eyes? And I lost the four years of university that I should have enjoyed the most, the four years I worked hard for with twelve years of studying through cold windows????!!!” Jiang Tiao’s eyes were filled with disbelief at being wronged by the cruel world.
“It’s okay,” Jiang Mingyan said, touching Jiang Tiao’s severely injured head with satisfaction. He changed his previous gloomy and angry demeanor, and wore a kind smile that Jiang Tiao hadn’t seen in his seventeen years of life. “You failed a lot of courses in college, and then you took several leaves of absence. So, you still haven’t graduated.”
Jiang Tiao slapped away Jiang Mingyan’s “magic hand” and smiled. “This, is, really, great, news! I, thank, you, so, very, much!”
Huo Shen’s eyes curved into crescent moons. The coldness he had shown upon waking, not even wanting to look at him, felt like Jiang Tiao’s illusion. He gently touched Jiang Tiao’s ahoge on his head. “Didn’t you always say you wanted that Lamborghini? I bought it later. Once you get your driver’s license, you can take it for a drive.”
Finally, he could get his driver’s license and drive! Jiang Tiao’s eyes lit up. It seemed that being an adult wasn’t entirely without benefits!
Jiang Tiao held Huo Shen’s hand, looking at him with tearful eyes. “Huo Huo, do you know why I always had toothaches after I met you?”
“……”
Here they go again, the familiar formula, the familiar rhythm. Jiang Mingyan almost rolled his eyes to the ceiling.
Huo Shen replied cooperatively, “Why?”
Jiang Tiao: “Maybe it’s because you’re too sweet!”
Huo Shen’s eyes curved into crescent moons.
“You’re still playing along with him?!” Jiang Mingyan looked at Huo Shen in disbelief, completely speechless.
“Heh, are you jealous that Huo Huo and I have a better relationship than you do!”
“Heh,” Jiang Mingyan shook off his speechlessness and pinched his younger brother’s face. “There’s been a slight problem with the project in France, and I have to leave by tonight at the latest. Huo Shen will take care of you these few days, and you have to listen to him.”
He was supposed to have arrived in Paris yesterday, but he learned that Jiang Tiao had been hospitalized just as he was boarding the plane. He rushed to the hospital, and after learning the reason for Jiang Tiao’s injury, he really wished he could drag him out of bed and give him a good thrashing. However, fortunately, the outcome seemed good now.
Jiang Tiao obediently allowed Jiang Mingyan to pinch his face, but his words were rebellious. “Oh, then I bid you farewell!”
Jiang Mingyan was amused. Before leaving, he saw Jiang Tiao picking up the phone on his bedside table and, feeling somewhat uneasy, discussed with Huo Shen in the hallway, “Do you think we should get him a new phone?”
Huo Shen, who hadn’t had a good rest for several days, showed a rare hint of fatigue in his expression. However, his demeanor was more relaxed than it had been in any of the past four years. He looked at Jiang Tiao’s elated and smiling eyebrows through the glass of the hospital room door…
“Forget it. There are so many videos and posts online. Even if we change his phone, he’ll still find out.”
In the hospital room, Jiang Tiao happily picked up his phone, which he hadn’t seen in what felt like an eternity.
It’s so good. Now phones unlock with facial recognition or fingerprint unlocking. Otherwise, given his habit of changing his password every three days, he would have to wait for a factory reset before he could touch his phone again.
“Ding—”
As soon as the phone opened, several WeChat messages popped up.
[Heart]: I’ve told you many times, I don’t like you.
[Heart]: Pestering me will only make me dislike you more.
Is this how people attract the people they want to pursue these days? Heh, too naive?
Jiang Tiao: [Sorry, I’m not planning to date right now.]
Chu Xu, who was far away in City B after just walking the red carpet, stared at the message for a long time. He deleted and retyped between “What madness are you up to now? What does it have to do with me whether you’re dating or not?”
Forget it, why bother with him? The more I bother with him, the more enthusiastic he gets!
As the nanny van drove towards the hotel, Chu Xu coldly picked up his phone and sent a question mark.
A bright red exclamation mark appeared in the chat box.
[The other party has enabled friend verification, and you are not yet their friend [Note].]
“………”
At two in the morning, Chu Xu sat up in bed.
“No, is he sick???”
