Chapter 13 The Omega at the Noble School 13: Apology.

Lu Chi scrutinized the person in front of him. He didn’t recall seeing him before. He opened his mouth to ask, “Is Lu Qingyun in this Dormitory?”

Wen Zhiyu, afraid his voice would be too loud and disturb Lu Qingyun, sped up his speech. “What do you want?”

Lu Chi raised an eyebrow, surprised by the wary look on the other person’s face, but he couldn’t be bothered to argue with someone irrelevant. He maintained his good temper.

“Tell him to come out, or I’ll go in and find him.”

Wen Zhiyu held the doorknob with one hand, ready to stop the person in front of him from rushing in with the other. He knew Lu Chi probably wouldn’t leave without seeing Lu Qingyun, so he said flatly, “He’s sick and can’t see anyone.”

Lu Chi froze, his brow furrowing deeply. He instinctively lowered his voice.

“What’s wrong? Where is he uncomfortable?”

“He has a fever. He can’t see anyone right now. Please leave,” Wen Zhiyu stood in the doorway like a bodyguard, speaking in a very official tone.

“I’ll go in and take a look.” Lu Chi finished speaking, then noticed Wen Zhiyu’s expression. He guessed that he and Lu Qingyun must have a good relationship. It seemed this roommate was worried he might bully Lu Qingyun.

He added, “Don’t worry, I won’t make a single sound.”

Wen Zhiyu stood his ground for a moment, but eventually let him in. He was mainly worried that if they talked outside, Lu Qingyun inside might hear them, and he feared their argument would wake him up.

Lu Chi walked in and let his eyes adjust to the darkness before he could see things clearly. Wen Zhiyu led him to Lu Qingyun’s bed, and his gaze fell upon Lu Qingyun’s face.

The boy’s face was pale, but his cheeks were flushed, making him look incredibly pitiful. A towel was draped over his head to bring down the fever. Half his face was buried under the summer quilt, only his forehead exposed. His eyes were closed, making him look like a fragile porcelain doll, someone you’d want to hold and protect.

Lu Chi’s heart clenched. He thought Lu Qingyun was truly pitiful. Last time, he had deliberately hung up the phone and said a lot of angry things.

Lu Qingyun wasn’t sleeping soundly; his eyelashes twitched occasionally.

Lu Chi stood by the bed, watching. He could feel Lu Qingyun’s roommates also paying attention to the situation. He thought these roommates were decent to Lu Qingyun.

He pondered for a moment and decided to treat these roommates better in the future. Maybe they could put in a good word for him with Lu Qingyun.

Meanwhile, these roommates, whom Lu Chi had unilaterally classified as his allies, were all watching Lu Chi warily, their eyes filled with undisguised hostility.

Lu Chi took out the phone he had prepared beforehand for his apology from his pocket. He placed it by Lu Qingyun’s bedside, watched for a little longer, and then quietly slipped out.

At the same time, in a group chat:

[Lu Lu My Baby: He finally left. Is he sick? Staring at my baby the whole time.]

[Yuan: Watch your words. (Not that he has the right to look.)]

[W: Whoever has vibration on, turn it off. It’s disturbing his sleep.]

[Lu Lu My Baby: Oh, I think it was me. Turned it off. When will Baby get better? My heart aches.]

[Lu Lu My Baby: When I was feeding him porridge today, I think I saw a canker sore on Baby’s tongue.]

    [Yuan: …Where were you looking?]

[Lu Lu My Baby: I wanted to apply medicine for him.]

Lu Lu My Baby retracted a message.

[Lu Lu My Baby: Hey, you guys didn’t go search the forum again, did you?]

Bai Zhengchu tilted his head and stared at Lu Qingyun’s lips for a while, but still didn’t dare to act rashly.

Lu Qingyun vaguely felt like he had slept for a very long time. Someone would feed him different kinds of porridge, and then he would be fed medicine.

When he opened his eyes this time, his mind felt much clearer, and his body felt lighter. He sat up. He definitely wasn’t dizzy anymore. Lu Qingyun picked up his phone and checked the time.

It was already the morning of the third day. Lu Qingyun glanced at the date; it was September 27th.

There were only a few days left until October 3rd. Lu Qingyun ruffled his hair, preparing to go down and take a shower. Lying down for so many days made him feel dirty.

As he got up and prepared to get out of bed, he saw a box on his pillow. Lu Qingyun sat back down and picked up the box to examine it.

Inside the box was a phone, brand new and looking very high-end. Lu Qingyun raised an eyebrow and casually set it aside.

It seemed Lu Chi had been here.

Although he was basically certain, Lu Qingyun still decided to ask.

The other two people in the Dormitory were nowhere to be seen; only Wen Zhiyu was on the opposite bed. He had seen Wen Zhiyu climb down from his bed when he sat up.

Lu Qingyun lowered his head and asked, “Who put this here?”

Wen Zhiyu’s eyes dimmed for a moment, and he said forlornly, “I don’t know. He said he was looking for you, and he left after putting the thing down.”

That wasn’t actually true. Lu Chi had come that day and then continued to visit for several days, even bringing them lunch and fruit several times. But Wen Zhiyu didn’t want to mention it. He regretted not hiding the phone somewhere less conspicuous; Lu Qingyun’s attention was drawn to it the moment he woke up.

Wen Zhiyu lowered his head in disappointment. Noticing Lu Qingyun’s movements, he consciously moved away from the bedside. He watched the Omega finish asking his question, start tidying his things, and then enter the bathroom, without speaking another word to him the entire time.

He stood alone in the Dormitory, clenching the corner of his shirt. The sound of running water from the bathroom was muffled by the door, the sound washing over his brain. His fingers trembled as he snapped back to reality.

He walked over, picked up the water cup from Lu Qingyun’s desk, filled it three-quarters full with hot water from the dispenser, and then added a little cold water, adjusting it to the right temperature.

Over the past few days, they had taken turns feeding Lu Qingyun medicine and had figured out his preferred water temperature. If it was too hot, the boy would frown from the scalding and refuse to drink the medicine. If it was too cold, he would get a stomach ache and have to rush to the restroom shortly after.

    He was truly delicate.

Wen Zhiyu looked at the cup, feeling the perfect temperature, his gaze losing focus along with the water flow, his eyes filled with doubt.

Lu Qingyun’s family wasn’t well off, and judging by his own habits, he didn’t seem to take very good care of himself. Perhaps it wasn’t delicacy, but rather that his body was too poorly maintained and prone to illness.

Wen Zhiyu glanced at the time. The other two should be returning with food soon.

Lu Qingyun emerged from the shower room, his hair still slightly damp, trailing down his neck and disappearing into his clothes. His entire face was flushed from the steam, and when he looked up, his eyes were still misty.

Perhaps water had gotten into his eyes while washing his hair, making his red eyes look particularly captivating. The indifferent deep color turned to annoyance when he noticed the extra person in the Dormitory.

The tall, slender Alpha was leaning against Lu Qingyun’s bed. Seeing him emerge, he looked over with a half-smile.

Lu Qingyun glared at him from across the room for a moment, then walked over to put away his things, completely ignoring the Alpha throughout the process.

Bai Zhengchu and Yu Yuan had also returned with food. Seeing the situation, they smugly approached to take credit.

Bai Zhengchu placed the purchased items one by one on Lu Qingyun’s desk, all still steaming hot. He thoughtfully set out the chopsticks and spoon, also completely ignoring Lu Chi.

Lu Chi stopped leaning and stood up straight, his gaze fixed on Lu Qingyun’s face. The boy didn’t spare him a single glance, indicating he was very angry.

Knowing he was in the wrong, he tried to make eye contact with the other roommates, hoping they could help persuade Lu Qingyun.

He had visited frequently over the past few days, often bringing things for Lu Qingyun, anticipating this day. So, each time, he had brought extra to share with his roommates.

But now, not a single person paid him any attention. They were all gathered around Lu Qingyun, not even glancing his way, as if he had truly become invisible.

Lu Chi watched for a long time and realized something was wrong. He cursed inwardly. These people weren’t helpers at all; they clearly all harbored intentions toward Lu Qingyun. That look in their eyes was obvious to anyone who wasn’t an idiot.

Lu Chi clenched his back teeth, crossed his arms, and stood to the side, quietly waiting for Lu Qingyun to finish eating. He swore this was the most patient he had ever been in his life.

Lu Qingyun was full after eating for a while. His appetite hadn’t fully recovered since his illness. After finishing, he slowly pulled out a tissue to wipe his hands. From the side, his facial contours were excellent, his nose bridge high, and his thin lips slightly pursed, carrying a hint of aloofness. He looked like a young master raised in a wealthy family, noble and inspiring an involuntary urge to submit.

Lu Chi involuntarily straightened up. Realizing this, he relaxed slightly. He walked a little closer, tilting his head to look at Lu Qingyun’s profile, and spoke softly, “I actually bought the phone for you a long time ago. I was just talking nonsense back then.”

This was the first time he had spoken so humbly. He was slightly surprised when the words left his mouth. Was he apologizing?

The Dormitory fell into a brief silence. Lu Chi felt uncomfortable with others present. He didn’t know why, but he could accept lowering his head to Lu Qingyun, but not in front of others.

Lu Qingyun dried his hands, playing with the crumpled tissue in his hand. He didn’t turn his head or speak.

Lu Chi opened his mouth and then closed it, finally squeezing out a sentence.

“Consider me having a foul mouth that day. I already put the phone on your bed last time. Please… don’t be angry anymore.”

Lu Qingyun seemed to finally hear him. He slightly parted his lips, sat up straight, tossed the trash into the bin, and turned his head to look over. “Are you apologizing?”

Lu Chi’s eyes flickered, moved for a moment. Two selves were fighting inside him, and finally, he conceded.

“Yes,” he walked closer and looked at Lu Qingyun, word by word. “I am apologizing.”

For some reason, the moment he said it, a weight lifted from his heart, and he instantly relaxed. But Lu Qingyun’s next words were like a bucket of cold water.

The boy’s cold words rang out, unusually clear in the quiet Dormitory.

“For such a trivial matter, Young Master shouldn’t bother coming to find me.”

This sentence was all too familiar; it was exactly what Lu Chi had said back then. Now it was being returned to him. Surprise flashed in Lu Chi’s eyes. He felt that Lu Qingyun was different from the last time they met. Lu Qingyun’s demeanor last time was completely different from today. This only made Lu Chi more curious.

He took a few deep breaths, suppressing the inexplicable tremor in his heart.

Lu Chi bent down, resting one hand on the back of Lu Qingyun’s chair, pulling him slightly closer.
