Chapter 17: The Omega at the Noble School 17 – Blackening

The more Ji Chengyu looked, the darker his expression became. He snatched the advertisement with a swift movement, crumpling it repeatedly into a ball in his palm.

His mouth slightly parted, letting out a soft scoff, before he couldn’t help but roar.

    “Lu Qingyun!”

Lu Qingyun, still in the Dormitory, felt a sudden chill and sneezed abruptly. This broke the stalemate between the two people in the room.

Lu Chi tilted his head and, with good sense, handed over a tissue. Seeing Lu Qingyun take it, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Lu Chi relaxed slightly, leaning against the edge of the desk. He spoke in a slightly more casual tone: “I promise, I absolutely won’t kiss you again without your permission next time.”

Lu Qingyun was very satisfied with this outcome. The lines of his face softened. He turned sideways, his eyes resting on Lu Chi’s tightly clenched hand, and responded with a hint of a smile.

    “That’s good.”

He secretly added in his heart: If it happens one more time, he’ll press this person’s mouth to the ground and rub it, letting him experience what it feels like to be hurt.

After that day, their relationship returned to normal. Lu Qingyun had two days of leisure. Ji Chengyu hadn’t come to ask about his progress during this time, so he naturally went on strike, lying on his Dormitory bed for two days.

He was the only one in the Dormitory, which had one advantage: he could let out his True Form.

It had been a long time since he had reverted to his True Form, and he felt a little nervous preparing for the first time. After all, this was a human school. Lu Qingyun quietly locked the Dormitory door, then locked the balcony door, and drew the curtains tightly. Then he climbed into bed and buried himself under the blanket.

A moment later, a fluffy ear poked out from under the blanket. The large ear popped out, swaying leisurely. Soon after, a tail squeezed out from the side of the blanket. The white furry tail swept haphazardly against the Dormitory wall.

If someone were to appear and see this now, they would definitely be startled. Lu Qingyun shifted his entire body back to human form, jumped out of the blanket, and curled up, wrapping his arms around his tail, sleeping soundly.

In his dream, he found himself in a forest filled with many foxes like him. Lu Qingyun rushed over and jumped around with them, as if returning to his origins.

He was finally awakened by the vibration of his phone ringing. Habitually, he raised his phone and saw his fox paw. Lu Qingyun put the phone down, switched back to his human form, and after getting dressed, he looked at the phone again.

It was a video call from Ji Chengyu. Lu Qingyun thought, fortunately, he hadn’t been quick to answer just now, or he would have been finished.

The call had already ended. Just as Lu Qingyun was about to call back, a red box popped up.

[j: Transferred 20,000 yuan to you.]

Lu Qingyun quickly clicked on it and had already accepted the transfer before he fully realized it.

So the chat box became this:

    [Lu: Payment received.]

Lu Qingyun watched the “The other party is typing…” notification constantly popping up, feeling an ominous premonition.

    [j: You’re there?]

[j: Why didn’t you answer the phone!!!]

The video call interface popped up again. Lu Qingyun sat up and clicked accept.

In the camera view that popped up, Ji Chengyu was very close to the phone. He looked suspiciously for a while before moving the phone away.

    “What are you doing?”

Lu Qingyun noticed his clothes weren’t quite right in the camera. He propped the phone up on its side and slowly began to explain.

“I just woke up. Is there something you need?”

Lu Qingyun’s voice was still a little hoarse. Because he had just woken up, his voice was soft and he spoke slowly. When it reached Ji Chengyu’s ears through the phone, a tingling sensation immediately spread through his body.

He chuckled unconsciously, and the resentment from seeing that advertisement last time completely dissipated.

He said “Oh,” remembering the main purpose of the call. He cleared his throat and said, “I sent you a set of clothes. Go try them on and see if they fit.”

Lu Qingyun straightened his clothes. Hearing this, he paused. Oh right, tomorrow was Ji Chengyu’s birthday.

He nodded, then remembered the phone was placed on the side and Ji Chengyu couldn’t see him, so he spoke out loud, saying “Okay.”

    “…”

The other side was quiet for a while. The video call on the phone continued, the time ticking up second by second. Lu Qingyun had no choice but to ask him.

    “Is there anything else?”

His voice came through the phone, and the other side asked uncertainly.

“Um… can you show yourself so I can see you?”

    ?

Lu Qingyun pursed his lips, picked up the phone, aimed the camera at himself, and asked him in confusion.

    “What’s wrong?”

Ji Chengyu’s camera went black for a moment, followed by a rustling sound. Then he hurriedly spoke: “N-nothing. I’m hanging up.”

The call suddenly ended, and the phone returned to their chat interface. Lu Qingyun blinked, staring at the phone for a while.

He felt that Ji Chengyu was a little strange today, but he was too lazy to think about it and put the phone aside, preparing to go out.

Their school was indeed very large, especially when it was empty during holidays, making it seem even more vast. A large road ran through the middle. After Lu Qingyun crossed it, he passed an artificial lake. A few boys were standing by the lake, talking about something and laughing from time to time. Lu Qingyun withdrew his gaze and quickened his pace, but his peripheral vision caught the boys looking over. One of them, blushing, started walking toward him.

Lu Qingyun looked around and didn’t see anyone else. His alarm bells went off, and he walked faster and faster.

But he was still caught up to. Sure enough, the boy’s opening line was the same old routine.

“Student Lu, can I add your contact information?”

Lu Qingyun’s legs froze. He forced a fake smile and quickly recited his standard refusal.

“Sorry, I’m not very used to using my phone. I don’t usually communicate much through my phone, so let’s not exchange contacts. Also, I have something to do, so I’ll be leaving now.”

He lifted his foot, ready to leave, but the boy relentlessly followed, adding as he chased, “My surname is Qin. I’m from the Qin family, and my family is quite wealthy. Are you really not going to consider adding my contact information?”

Lu Qingyun showed a slightly troubled expression, though he was rolling his eyes internally. Nobody cared what his surname was; he hadn’t even asked. What was the point of this? And he had already politely refused. Why couldn’t this person understand?

Seeing this, Young Master Qin’s eyes lit up, thinking Lu Qingyun was hesitating. He immediately prepared to continue talking.

Lu Qingyun suddenly stopped. Young Master Qin didn’t react quickly enough, taking a few extra steps before hurriedly turning back.

Lu Qingyun no longer maintained the fake smile on his face. He stood still, looking straight ahead, and quickly said, “I really have something important to do right now. Please stop following me.”

After speaking, he didn’t care about the expression on Young Master Qin’s or Young Master Li’s face, lifted his feet again, and quickly left the spot.

Lu Qingyun returned to the Dormitory after picking up the package and began to unpack. He had carried the box all the way back, and it felt unusually heavy. How could it be so heavy when it only contained one set of clothes?

Lu Qingyun finished unwrapping the packaging. Inside, besides a set of clothes, there was a large gift box. A note was clipped to the top of the box. Lu Qingyun held it up to read.

The handwriting was a bit messy, showing the writer’s habits, but the person writing was clearly trying to write neatly, making the otherwise chaotic script readable. Lu Qingyun recognized the content.

    “A gift for me tomorrow!!!”

Lu Qingyun held the paper and let out a soft laugh. He put the note away, thinking, that’s quite thoughtful. It was perfect since he hadn’t prepared anything.

He moved the gift box out and then started unwrapping the clothes. It was a light blue suit, a classic single-breasted, two-button style. Lu Qingyun lifted the clothes. The suit was very structured, and the fabric felt comfortable, clearly indicating its high value.

Lu Qingyun tidied the clothes and hung them by the bed, then sent a simple reply to Ji Chengyu.

    [Lu: Received.]

Just as he was about to turn off his phone, another message popped up.

It was a message from Shen Zhifan.

    “Where are you?”

Lu Qingyun frowned inexplicably at the message. He felt the phrasing was a bit strange, but he still typed a reply.

“I’m at school. I’ve been very busy lately; I have an experiment to do.”

The other side replied instantly, but the message he received made Lu Qingyun tense up again.

    “Are you in the laboratory?”

Lu Qingyun keenly sensed that something was wrong. He remembered Shen Zhifan’s sudden appearance at the school gate last time. His brow twitched, and he countered, “Where are you?”

Lu Qingyun placed his phone on the desk, took a sip of water, and waited for the reply. This time, the other side took a long time before sending a photo.

Lu Qingyun didn’t click to enlarge it, but he could see clearly at a glance. Shen Zhifan had sent a picture of his home, and Shen Zhinian was also visible nearby.

Lu Qingyun felt slightly relieved. Just then, the reply came through.

“I’m at home. I made a lot of delicious food. I won’t bother you since you’re busy. [Crying yellow face emoji.jpg]”

Lu Qingyun was typically soft-hearted toward those who were gentle and resistant to those who were harsh. Seeing the other side act this way, his tone softened. He mimicked Shen Zhifan and sent the same emoji, then typed expressionlessly.

“Wuwu, I’m missing out on good food. You guys enjoy it. Happy early birthday! I’m going back to my experiment now.”

The phone chimed with the message. Shen Zhifan picked it up and read it twice. He exited and re-entered the chat to confirm repeatedly, finally forcing a very stiff smile.

He switched back to his photo album. The most recent picture was of the school lake, showing Lu Qingyun walking and talking happily with a boy.

Shen Zhifan’s smile froze on his face. His hands clenched tighter and tighter. He hesitated for a long time but didn’t send the photo.

He remembered that Lu Qingyun had been clearly angry the last time he showed up at the school gate. So, if he came over unannounced this time and even sent a photo to question him, Lu Qingyun definitely wouldn’t talk to him.

Shen Zhifan gripped his phone and took a deep breath, taking a long time to calm down. He replied to Lu Qingyun in the message box.

    “Okay.”

He had taken the day off today. He had originally planned to just come and take a look since Lu Qingyun was busy these days. But he happened to see that scene. The school’s express delivery station was close to the school gate, so the lake was also nearby, which was why he saw it.

And the place where he was currently standing was right outside Lu Qingyun’s Dormitory building. He had followed Lu Qingyun all the way here, watching him walk into the Dormitory building and never come out again.

And just a few minutes ago, Lu Qingyun told him he was doing an experiment.

Shen Zhifan’s eyes darkened. He tightly gripped his phone, pulling at the corners of his mouth in a smile.

    “Liar.”

Shen Zhifan’s smile gradually froze on his face. He swallowed with difficulty. A rush of heat welled up in his eye sockets, and his heart felt blocked by a large stone, unable to move up or down.

Why did you lie to me?
