The Black-Hearted Beauty Is Spied On By Crazy Critics Again [Quickly Pass] Chapter 22
byChapter 22 The Omega of the Aristocratic School 22: Fooled Again…
Shen Zhifan held him tightly from behind, lowering his head slightly, his rapid breaths falling near Lu Qingyun’s ear. Shen Zhifan buried his head in Lu Qingyun’s neck, speaking in a suppressed voice.
“I’m sorry, I misjudged.”
Just as Lu Qingyun was about to reach out and hold the man’s hand, he suddenly felt a dampness on his neck, and the man behind him trembled, tightening his grip.
“I was wrong, please don’t leave…”
Lu Qingyun sighed, paused for a moment, then turned around and hugged him. He gently patted the man’s back, comforting him like a child, saying, “It’s alright, I’m not leaving.”
Shen Zhifan tightened his arms, terrified that the boy would turn and leave again. He held him so tightly, and they embraced like that for a long time until the panic in his heart slowly subsided.
He closed his eyes in restraint. Once his emotions settled, he remembered something and released Lu Qingyun. He pulled Lu Qingyun back, and his gaze fell upon the box on the floor.
“What is this?”
Seeing the conversation return to its intended direction, Lu Qingyun answered smoothly, “This is… why don’t you open it and see for yourself.”
Shen Zhifan picked up the box from the floor and slowly unwrapped it. He froze for a moment when he saw what was inside.
It was a mobile phone, looking very new and a very high-end model. One glance suggested it was quite valuable.
Shen Zhifan snapped back to attention, his brow slightly furrowed. He looked at Lu Qingyun anxiously.
“This… this is too valuable, I can’t accept it. Besides, your financial situation isn’t good to begin with. How could you give me something so expensive? Listen to me, go return it.”
Lu Qingyun smiled slightly upon hearing this, reaching out to pat Shen Zhifan’s shoulder.
“Brother Shen, I’ve already bought it; I can’t return it now.”
Seeing that Shen Zhifan still wanted to persuade him, Lu Qingyun immediately said, “Brother Shen, just use it without worry. Don’t you like it?”
How could Shen Zhifan refuse Lu Qingyun? He liked everything about him, and he liked everything Lu Qingyun gave him. Even if Lu Qingyun picked up a cardboard box from outside and brought it over, he would cherish it.
He knew now that it couldn’t be returned, so he didn’t say anything more, only expressing his gratitude, “I like it.”
Lu Qingyun’s mind became active upon hearing this. His eyes involuntarily darted around, his lips slightly downturned, and he spoke softly.
“I’m glad you like it. I worked many jobs and saved money for a long time to afford this. If you didn’t like it, I would be heartbroken…” After saying this, he acted as if he had just realized what he said, covering his mouth and quickly falling silent.
Shen Zhifan looked at the person in front of him, his eyes turning red again. He couldn’t help but step forward and pull the person into his arms once more.
“I really like it.”
He hadn’t expected Lu Qingyun to go to such lengths just to give him a birthday gift. He was deeply moved by the boy’s actions, and everything that had just happened was thrown to the back of his mind. He even began to condemn himself for being so impulsive. Lu Qingyun was clearly busy preparing his gift, yet he had doubted such a good person.
Thinking this, he released Lu Qingyun, awkwardly tugging at the corner of his own shirt, and apologized again, “I’m sorry, I just now…”
Lu Qingyun nodded imperceptibly. He was satisfied for a moment, then quickly reacted, grabbing Shen Zhifan’s hand, his eyes also reddening.
“Just promise not to doubt me again, Brother Shen.” He immediately pulled Shen Zhifan toward the room. “But let’s not talk about that anymore. Brother Shen, we are good friends.”
The boy led the tall man behind him step by step into the room, the sunlight hitting his white t-shirt.
Shen Zhifan was drawn to him and froze for a moment. His gaze shifted to their clasped hands. Listening to Lu Qingyun’s words, a bitter feeling rose in his heart.
He hadn’t found those words so jarring before, but now he thought about how he didn’t want to just be friends with Lu Qingyun. When did this feeling start? Shen Zhifan asked himself, but received no answer. He cursed himself internally, thinking it was wishful thinking. Being friends was already good enough.
Lu Qingyun had never despised someone like him and had always treated him well. This was already enough.
He repeated this thought in his heart, as if reminding himself of something.
Lu Qingyun stayed at Shen Zhifan’s house for dinner, and then, remembering Xie Jin blocking the Dormitory door, he chose to stay the night.
He was given a whole bed to sleep on. Lu Qingyun lay down and quickly fell asleep, but after resting for only a short while, large beads of cold sweat suddenly appeared on his forehead. Lu Qingyun frowned and restlessly turned his head. Waves of pain radiated from his stomach. He couldn’t help but rub the area, letting out a painful groan.
Shen Zhifan was a light sleeper and quickly woke up. He turned his head to look.
Lu Qingyun was half-curled up, one hand clutching his stomach, his face covered in cold sweat.
Shen Zhifan was startled and rushed over. He gently pushed Lu Qingyun, his face etched with anxiety.
He forced himself to calm down, remembering the medication Lu Qingyun had taken the last time he was sick. The boy had kept it in his pants pocket, and it might be there now.
Shen Zhifan’s gaze dropped. In his anxiety, he didn’t worry about crossing boundaries and reached directly into Lu Qingyun’s clothing pocket. Sure enough, he felt something hard. Shen Zhifan quickly pulled it out. He opened the bottle, poured two tablets into his hand, and reached out to feed them to Lu Qingyun.
Just as his hand reached out, Lu Qingyun suddenly opened his eyes. The boy pushed his hand away and rushed into the bathroom at a very fast speed.
Shen Zhifan was stunned and quickly placed the medicine bottle and the two tablets on the bedside table between the two beds, then followed him.
Sounds of light retching came from the bathroom. Lu Qingyun leaned on the sink with one hand, dry heaving for a long time without bringing anything up. Shen Zhifan stood beside him, rubbing his back.
Lu Qingyun propped up his arm and raised his head. His reflection in the mirror showed a terrifyingly pale face, with tears welling in the corners of his eyes. He looked extremely fragile.
Lu Qingyun pursed his lips and closed his eyes helplessly. The churning pain in his stomach was so intense that he was struggling to maintain his composure. He met his own gaze in the mirror and spoke softly.
“Cough… Brother Shen, please help me get the medicine.”
Shen Zhifan responded and quickly walked out. The medicine bottle was on the central bedside table. In his haste, his leg bumped against the bed. The medicine bottle on the bedside table was more conspicuous and easier to grab. Shen Zhifan reached out and grabbed the bottle first, pouring some into his hand as he walked.
When he reached the bathroom, Lu Qingyun was still standing at the sink. Whether it was his imagination or not, Lu Qingyun looked half-recovered.
Shen Zhifan didn’t think much of it and handed over the medicine. He only relaxed after watching Lu Qingyun swallow it.
He turned his head to observe the boy. Seeing his expression improve significantly, he asked, “How do you feel?”
Lu Qingyun nodded, turning on the faucet to wash his hands slowly and methodically.
“Much better. Let’s go back to sleep.”
Shen Zhifan’s words were blocked. He glanced at Lu Qingyun’s expression and decided not to ask any more questions. He watched Lu Qingyun walk back to bed and lie down. He watched quietly for a long time, and only when the boy’s breathing became steady did he feel relieved enough to lie back down himself.
The next day, Lu Qingyun left after breakfast. When he returned to school, Xie Jin was long gone from the Dormitory entrance.
It was still the National Day holiday, so Shen Zhinian didn’t have to go to school. He sat on the bed, playing with his brother’s new phone, finding everything novel.
After playing for a while, he suddenly noticed two small white objects on the bedside table. They looked very much like the candy he usually ate. Shen Zhinian thought his brother had prepared them for him, grabbed one, and put it in his mouth.
Shen Zhifan walked in to grab something and happened to see this scene. He rushed over, but it was too late to stop him; Shen Zhinian had already put it in his mouth.
Shen Zhifan sighed helplessly, frowning, “That’s medicine, you shouldn’t eat it randomly.” He watched Shen Zhinian chew with puffed cheeks. “Isn’t it bitter? Spit it out quickly.”
Shen Zhinian quickly swallowed it before cheekily saying, “Brother is lying, this is clearly candy.”
“What?” Shen Zhifan’s face darkened, suspicion rising. He thought of something, and the color drained from his lips.
His gaze fell on the other “tablet” on the bedside table. Shen Zhinian tilted his head, seeing his brother’s poor complexion, slightly confused, but still reached out, pointing at the “tablet” on the bedside, and said,
“I won’t eat this one, I’ll leave it for Brother.”
Shen Zhifan didn’t speak. He bent down, picked up the “tablet” from the bedside table, and put it in his mouth.
A faint sweetness spread across his mouth, but Shen Zhifan only felt bitterness. He suddenly laughed, his eyes appearing somewhat gloomy under the room’s light, his gaze dark and turbulent in the shadows.
A dense, prickly sourness enveloped him. His heart felt pierced by a needle, and a bleak smile appeared on his face.
He spoke softly, his voice low and lingering eerily in the room.
“Was even this a lie?”
