Chapter 24 The Omega in the Noble School 24 Grabbing the Ankle…

Seeing him flinch, Lu Chi suddenly let out a mocking laugh. He pulled a nearby chair closer, leaning back casually, a flash of triumph in his eyes.

“Looks like he doesn’t care much about you either.”

Shen Zhifan’s face darkened, his hands clenched tight. He knew Lu Chi was right; Lu Qingyun genuinely didn’t care about him. A bitter taste spread in his heart, and he barely managed a slight tug at the corner of his mouth.

His actions were fully observed by Lu Chi, who suddenly said with a half-smile, “That phone you’re holding? I’m the one who gave it to him.”

A sudden rumble of thunder sounded outside the Dormitory, the noise loud enough to momentarily deafen. Shen Zhifan froze, the color draining completely from his face. His heart hammered, driven by an instinct that urged him to believe Lu Chi.

After all, Lu Qingyun had lied to him so many times, and… and he had checked. This phone was a limited edition, prohibitively expensive. How could Lu Qingyun afford it?

His face was stiff and rigid as he stared directly at Lu Chi, his eyes seeming to hold mist, bloodshot rims appearing around his sockets, making him look somewhat unsettling.

Even Lu Chi was startled by the sight. He frowned, wondering if this person might be mentally unstable.

Shen Zhifan suddenly took a step forward, his expression extremely rigid. He forced out a strange smile, his voice echoing eerily in the Dormitory.

“Thank you for the reminder. I understand.”

Lu Chi was about to wave him off when his phone suddenly rang. The device in his pocket vibrated incessantly. Lu Chi pressed disconnect, but it rang again shortly after.

He didn’t need to look to know who was calling. It had to be his father. After that banquet, he didn’t know what his dad had figured out, but he had been interrogated constantly upon returning and threatened with confinement. He had snuck out this time. He was worried about Lu Qingyun, but still hadn’t managed to see him.

The third time the phone rang, Lu Chi answered, turning to walk out. Listening to the voice on the other end, he responded dismissively, “Fine, fine, I’m coming right back.”

The area outside the Dormitory quickly darkened. The thunder rumbled a few more times. The thunderstorm arrived fiercely, and rain instantly poured down outside.

Lu Qingyun and Xie Jin had gone out for a meal. Afterward, Xie Jin walked him back under an umbrella. Lu Qingyun said goodbye and headed toward the Dormitory.

A faint sound of footsteps echoed behind him. Lu Qingyun gripped his hand tightly and spun around abruptly. The space behind him was empty, only the sound of rain hitting the ground surrounding him.

Lu Qingyun looked left and right again, then turned back suspiciously, quickening his pace. He used his card to quickly enter the elevator, feeling slightly relieved.

Perhaps due to the gloomy weather, his heart was beating faster than usual, and he felt an inexplicable panic. Lu Qingyun stepped out of the elevator and hurried toward the Dormitory. The hallway tonight seemed terrifyingly quiet. He walked faster and faster.

The moment his hand touched the Dormitory door, a sense of relief washed over him. He gently pushed it open, slipped inside, and reached back to close the door. This pull met resistance; the door didn’t budge.

Lu Qingyun looked back, his pupils contracting. He took a step back, but missed his footing and sat directly on the floor.

The hand gripping the door was veined and slightly damp. The fingers were taut and white from the force used. Shen Zhifan’s face emerged from behind the door.

His hair was wet and plastered to his forehead. His face was completely devoid of color, his cheeks even slightly blue, as if frozen. Hidden beneath his hair, Shen Zhifan’s eyes were red-rimmed, staring gloomily at Lu Qingyun.

Shen Zhifan slowly stepped inside, using one hand to pull the door shut behind him, then naturally lifted his hand to lock it.

He walked up to Lu Qingyun, looking down. Droplets of water slid down from his hair.

Lu Qingyun sat on the floor, one hand braced behind him, instinctively scooting backward.

Shen Zhifan’s gaze shifted slightly with Lu Qingyun’s movement. He slowly bent down, reaching out and grabbing Lu Qingyun’s ankle tightly.
