Chapter 38 Part 2
by BLReads‘He’s close to me, and he’s someone I’ll have to see for a long time.’
‘Long time?’
‘Our parents are close. Even if everyone else falls away, he’d probably be the only one left I’d have to keep around.’
‘Ah…’
If their parents were close, Lee Jun thought that made sense.
‘What’s his personality like?’
‘Considering the environment he grew up in, he’s pretty normal. He’s someone who fits in anywhere, but he’s not exactly ordinary.’
The more Chaeheon spoke, the more confused Lee Jun seemed, so Chaeheon neatly summarized.
‘Normally, he just seems to like having fun, but he’s actually quite a handful with his thoughts.’
Lee Jun didn’t ask any more questions. If he wasn’t someone from university, wouldn’t it be okay to meet him? Chaeheon seemed so eager to introduce him.
While he was thinking, the towel that had been drying his hair disappeared. It had felt stifling wrapped around his head, but now that it was gone, he felt a void. Lee Jun touched his hair. It took longer than a hairdryer, and his hair was cool, so it didn’t feel completely dry, but… he liked it.
‘Then I’ll try to arrange a separate time with Han Jeong-min.’
Lee Jun nodded blankly, then, a moment later, a question occurred to him, and he tilted his head back to look at Chaeheon.
‘But does that friend know me too?’
The sound of dripping water brought Lee Jun out of his thoughts. He lowered the towel that had been drying his hair. It was still wet, and drops were falling, but the thought of drying it further was gone.
‘Han Jeong-min.’
The time hadn’t been right to meet Han Jeong-min, with whom he had planned to meet at an opportune moment, so a meeting hadn’t been arranged. Looking back now, it was a good thing.
‘Han Jeong-min doesn’t know I’m Haein’s brother, and I know Han Jeong-min is Hae Sol’s father.’
That one difference could now work in Lee Jun’s favor.
‘Since Chaeheon has seen Hae Sol, he won’t just sit idly by.’
Despite having several opportunities to ask him, he didn’t.
That didn’t mean he intended to pretend not to know and bury it. If Chaeheon was going to make a move in any way, Lee Jun also had to do something that would benefit him, even if only a little. Like meeting Han Jeong-min.
Having made up his mind, Lee Jun came out of the bathroom with the towel casually draped over his shoulder.
“Oppa.”
As if she had been waiting, Haein stood in front of him with her arms crossed. Lee Jun glanced at her, then walked into the room.
“Where’s Hae Sol?”
“Mom took him. It’s nap time now.”
That meant Haein could follow Lee Jun anywhere. As Lee Jun sat on the bed, Haein followed him in, closing and even locking the door.
“Now tell me. Why did you lie to Chaeheon Oppa?”
As Lee Jun moved the towel aside, Haein urged him for an answer.
“Why did you say it was your child? Do you think he’d believe that?”
“Whether he believes it or not, it doesn’t matter.”
Lee Jun shook his head.
“It just needs to be enough to confuse him.”
So, it just needs to be to the point where it’s not brought up, like now. Lee Jun looked up at Haein.
“I’ll try to meet Han Jeong-min soon.”
At Lee Jun’s words, Haein’s eyes widened in surprise. He had refused when she asked Chaeheon to look into it before, so his willingness to step forward now was unexpected.
“Instead, tell me.”
Lee Jun looked into Haein’s eyes and asked calmly but firmly.
“What will you do if Han Jeong-min says he wants Hae Sol?”
He had told her not to have the baby. So Haein had Hae Sol without telling Han Jeong-min, but what if he demanded something else?
