    Chapter Index

Haein smiled faintly and shot an arrow. Sometimes she seemed tactless, but it was no surprise that Lee Jun always ended up telling her his secrets. He hadn’t even been able to hide his relationship with Chaeheon from Haein in the first place.

    “You met Chaeheon, didn’t you?”

Lee Jun’s lips parted, then instead of speaking, he nodded.

“And… it seems you also met Han Jeong-min.”

He wished he had just come clean from the start, as if there was nothing to hide. He had mentioned meeting Han Jeong-min, but even without specifying the exact day, Haein had figured it out.

“I told you not to try to hide things from me.”

“I was going to tell you.”

He had just wanted to gather his thoughts a little before doing so, but that time was taken away from him.

“You met him through Chaeheon, didn’t you?”

Lee Jun, who had been silent at Haein’s words for a moment, nodded heavily. Haein nodded half-heartedly.

“What was your first impression? He’s handsome, right?”

    Handsome?

    “Not really.”

    “Don’t compare him to Chaeheon.”

    “I don’t know.”

“Then I’ll change the question. He resembles Hae Sol, right?”

    “…”

Originally, when you looked at Hae Sol, he strongly resembled Haein. So Lee Jun had thought Hae Sol didn’t resemble his father’s side at all, but after seeing Han Jeong-min today, that thought changed. Hae Sol also strongly resembled Han Jeong-min.

“What was his first impression? His demeanor?”

    “Can I be honest?”

“Why not? He’s probably been a bad person to you from the start.”

Haein shrugged it off lightly, as if to say, “What’s wrong with that?”

“I dated him, so I hate him, yet I miss him, resent him, yet I still have lingering feelings. But you don’t.”

As Lee Jun’s expression darkened, Haein pouted, rolled her eyes around, then blurted out.

“I said you can just say it!”

    “It wasn’t good.”

“I read that all over your face, so tell me something else.”

Haein parried lightly, urging him to say more, and Lee Jun couldn’t relax his expression.

“I’ve only seen him once, but he didn’t seem good as Hae Sol’s father. I just wish things could stay as they are. I’ll take care of raising Hae Sol myself.”

    “Why would you raise him?”

    Haein sharply cut him off.

“I know it’s really selfish of me to say this after all the help I’ve received from you, but Hae Sol is my son.”

Haein got up from her seat as if she had heard all she needed to hear.

“Anyway, I’m going to raise Hae Sol myself. Actually, I had an interview a while ago. I’m going to send Hae Sol to daycare and go to work. I won’t cause Mom any trouble either.”

“You don’t have to rush into a decision like that. When Hae Sol is older…”

    “Brother.”

Haein wiggled her finger as if he didn’t understand.

“All working parents are like that these days. I’ll be able to manage on my own soon, so you don’t have to worry anymore. Why did you even come home tonight instead of just staying out? You made Chaeheon sad.”

Haein said cheerfully and opened the door.

“Breakfast tomorrow is toast, so if you want something to cure your hangover, just make yourself some soup.”

After Haein left with those words, Lee Jun, left alone, felt an indescribable emotion. The conversation they had just had was different from what he had expected. He had thought that after meeting Han Jeong-min, they would have a deep discussion about what to do next…

Meanwhile, Haein, who had closed the door and come out, erased her smile as if she had never been laughing. She entered her room and lay down next to Hae Sol, who was sleeping. Gently stroking Hae Sol’s chubby cheek, Haein held back the tears that welled up. Knowing that Lee Jun had met Han Jeong-min and found no hope, there was only one thing she could do.

“Don’t be tied down by me and Hae Sol, go wherever you want to go.”

The reason he broke up with Chaeheon was probably also because of her and Hae Sol. She felt sorry for that too, and it couldn’t continue. Now, she truly shouldn’t be a burden to Lee Jun anymore.
