Chapter 9 Part 2
by BLReadsLee Jun followed the cup with his gaze, and Chaeheon, who had arrived unnoticed, was standing and looking down at him. Chaeheon, who had gone home in a good mood yesterday, smiled and mouthed, “Who is it?” asking.
Lee Jun said it was nothing, but his phone moved slightly away from his ear, and Haein’s voice leaked out.
[Brother?]
“Uh. Can I make time today?”
Instead of hanging up, Lee Jun got straight to the point with Haein. He was about to ask if he should go see Hae Sol today, when Chaeheon tapped the desk. Looking up at him again, Lee Jun saw Chaeheon raising one eyebrow, clearly showing his displeasure.
What’s with him?
Lee Jun had no intention of reacting to his willful personality.
[Hehe, I was already in a bind because my friends kept nagging me about when we’d meet. You’ll come home early, right? I’ll leave when you arrive, Brother.]
“Yeah.”
Even after the call ended, Chaeheon remained standing there. Was he going to sit, or did he want to go somewhere else? Lee Jun wanted to ignore him, but his Americano, which Chaeheon had taken, was a problem.
He had to get through today with that coffee.
“That’s mine.”
Lee Jun finally spoke to Chaeheon first. Chaeheon continued to stare down at Lee Jun before roughly sitting down. The Americano was on his left, so even stretching his arm wasn’t enough to reach it. While Lee Jun was contemplating whether to get up and take it, Chaeheon rested his elbow on the desk and turned his body sideways.
Lee Jun let out a low sigh, feeling as if Chaeheon’s gaze would bore a hole through his cheek. Why is his mood so up and down?
“Who was that?”
At Chaeheon’s voice, Lee Jun looked back at him but didn’t answer, not understanding what he meant by the question.
“I asked, who was that?”
“Why are you curious about that?”
“It’s only natural to want to know.”
Lee Jun had no particular obligation to satisfy his curiosity, but Chaeheon asked so boldly.
“It could be someone I know.”
“Not someone you know…”
It would be better to just ask if it was Park Dong-hu. Moreover, he clearly heard a female voice, yet he was acting so brazenly.
But when it came to actually saying who it was, the words wouldn’t readily leave his lips. Every word was cautious. Lest his secret be revealed to him.
“Is it someone you can’t tell me about?”
As if sensing Lee Jun’s thoughts, Chaeheon asked. He didn’t sneer or get terrifyingly serious like usual. He simply gazed into Lee Jun’s eyes with calm eyes.
If he said it was someone he couldn’t tell him about, how would Chaeheon react? And how far could he anticipate Chaeheon’s inner thoughts?
Perhaps it would be better to just cut it short, so Chaeheon wouldn’t imagine more.
“Haein.”
The moment he made his decision, Lee Jun replied calmly.
Chaeheon tilted his head for a moment, then his eyes showed an understanding like, ‘Ah, that’s right.’
“How’s Haein doing? I wanted to see her once.”
Chaeheon replied as if backing down, but his tone was resentful.
“Don’t talk nonsense.”
Lee Jun drew the line, telling him not to say anything more. He hoped it would stop here, so Chaeheon wouldn’t dig into the circumstances he couldn’t talk about…
Then, he belatedly remembered something he’d forgotten.
The coffee.
