WT Chapter 28
by BLReadsChapter 28: Stopping Medication – You can’t just stop taking medication on your own.
Wen Shixi was stunned for a moment as he watched his wine glass being snatched away, then quickly frowned.
Wen Shixi really couldn’t figure out what Jiang Quanyu was trying to do.
Could it be that the financial investments in Washington, the physical industries in the harbor, the newly planned theme park, and even the engagement ceremony about to be held with Tang Xu, all of this combined wasn’t enough to keep Jiang Quanyu busy? Did he really have to control his drinking and his marriage?
Wen Shixi said coldly, “Can’t you just take care of your own affairs? Lin Yining paid attention to me because I helped Mr. Tang for you. If you don’t like that, please take care of Mr. Tang yourself.”
His words were ambiguous and explicit. When Jiang Quanyu heard Wen Shixi mention Tang Xu, a hint of doubt appeared in his eyes.
At this moment, Chen Jiale walked over from the side, patting Jiang Quanyu’s shoulder while on the phone and frowning.
“Jian Lao Er is here.” Chen Jiale listened to the report on the phone, not caring about Jiang Quanyu’s expression, and chattered, “Come on, we need to talk about the land reclamation approval. He said there are still some minor issues with the procedures…”
As Chen Jiale spoke, he turned his head and saw Wen Shixi across from Jiang Quanyu.
The young master Chen paused, then looked at Jiang Quanyu’s furrowed brows, and changed his words smoothly, “…there are still some minor issues, but if you’re busy, the two of us can wait for you for a while.”
Jiang Quanyu’s face was expressionless: “I’ll be right there.”
Chen Jiale continued to listen to the phone, made an “OK” gesture at him, turned and walked to the side.
Jiang Quanyu withdrew his gaze and was about to speak when Chen Jiale took two steps and suddenly turned back again.
“Oh, right.” Chen Jiale moved his phone away a little, his voice neither too loud nor too soft, and said to Jiang Quanyu from a short distance, “Shen Chuji told me to remind you, even if you don’t go for regular check-ups, you absolutely can’t just stop taking your medication.”
As Chen Jiale spoke, a moment of gloom flashed across Jiang Quanyu’s expression.
Jiang Quanyu didn’t expect Chen Jiale to suddenly mention this in front of Wen Shixi. He clenched his hands unnaturally, and quickly said, “Got it.”
“That’s good, hurry up.” Chen Jiale said, withdrew his gaze, and turned to continue walking away.
By the window, as Chen Jiale left, a look of doubt appeared on Wen Shixi’s cold face.
Wen Shixi recalled Chen Jiale’s words just now and blinked lightly.
Stop taking medication?
Was Jiang Quanyu sick?
“You… are you feeling unwell?” Wen Shixi asked in a cold voice, still with a straight face.
Jiang Quanyu turned his head and looked at Wen Shixi’s eyes, which contained the light of shattered crystals.
His neatly styled short hair drooped slightly, blocking a small patch of skin. Jiang Quanyu subconsciously wanted to raise his hand to brush the stray hair away from Wen Shixi’s face, but after pursing his lips, he lowered his hand again.
“Just a little cold,” he said casually.
Jiang Quanyu’s concealment was based on the premise that no one could question him, and it was always extremely perfunctory.
But Wen Shixi didn’t think that a little cold would involve stopping medication and check-ups, nor did he intend to be fooled.
Wen Shixi was just about to ask further when he saw Jiang Yan waving at him not far away.
In such an occasion, conversations were constantly interrupted, and the gazes cast from all directions were particularly chaotic, making it unsuitable for settling down and chatting about anything.
Wen Shixi let out a breath, nodded to Jiang Yan from afar, indicating that he would be right over.
Then, he said to Jiang Quanyu, “Dad is calling me, I’m leaving.”
Jiang Quanyu hesitated, obviously still wanting to ask Wen Shixi about the topic of Tang Xu just now.
But Jiang Quanyu hesitated for a moment, then nodded and said, “Okay, you go ahead.”
Before Wen Shixi left, he looked at Jiang Quanyu’s face again.
His face was slightly furrowed, as if he wasn’t used to saying such things. After several hesitations, he said, “If you need to take medicine… don’t drink alcohol, be careful of sudden death.”
Jiang Quanyu paused slightly, and a helpless look appeared in his eyes: “Why can’t you say good things properly?”
Wen Shixi said coldly, “I’m leaving.”
As he said that, he started walking towards Jiang Yan.
As they brushed past each other, Jiang Quanyu said, “I’ll come find you when I’m done.”
Wen Shixi said as he walked, “Don’t come.”
Jiang Quanyu didn’t care about Wen Shixi’s attitude of keeping him at arm’s length, and only said, “If Uncle is leaving, wait for me in the room.”
Walking further away, Wen Shixi added, “I said don’t come, don’t come.”
Years of intermittent illness made Jiang Yan more easily fatigued than the average person.
Seeing that he had completed his friend’s request and had spoken with many old friends, Jiang Yan planned to take Wen Shixi to leave at an appropriate time.
At nightfall, the public areas of the cruise ship were bustling and lively.
Looking from afar, the lights and neon lights on the ship were colorful, reflected on the dark sea.
Jiang Yan led Wen Shixi away from the banquet and took the elevator to the side of the building where they were staying. Because it was located on a high floor, the corridor was particularly quiet.
Wen Shixi escorted Jiang Yan back to his room, watched Jiang Yan take his medicine, and didn’t finally leave until he was back in bed, returning to his own room next door.
In the clean cabin, a faint jasmine fragrance floated.
Although it wasn’t as spacious as home, the suite was fully furnished.
Finally, with the silence around him, Wen Shixi didn’t turn on the lights. Outside the glass balcony facing the door, the sea reflected the moonlight, and the stars shattered across the sea.
He walked through the room, to the balcony door, opened the glass door, and stepped into the sea breeze.
Returning from the crowded place to solitude, the effects of the alcohol finally gradually emerged.
Facing the cool sea breeze, Wen Shixi lay on the balcony lounge chair, looked at the starry sky, and squinted his eyes comfortably.
Since Jiang Quanyu said he was coming to find him, it would be good if he came.
Their previous meetings had been rushed, and he also had something he wanted to return to him.
He didn’t know how much time had passed, but just as Wen Shixi was about to fall asleep, he faintly heard a knock on the door.
The sea breeze was noisy, and the sound was temporarily indistinguishable, but it was particularly persistent.
Wen Shixi frowned and got up, returned to the room, and heard the knock on the door, “tap, tap,” and walked to the door with a puzzled expression.
Was Jiang Quanyu done so quickly?
The door opened, and Wen Shixi was slightly stunned, looking at the figure outside the door.
A middle-aged man with a proper appearance stood at the door, wearing a suit, and bowed slightly to Wen Shixi.
“Young Master Shixi.”
Wen Shixi recognized the identity of the person in front of him: “…Secretary Liu?”
“It’s me.” Secretary Liu smiled and said, “Your uncle said he would like to invite you over now to chat.”
Hearing that Jiang Lian was also on this cruise ship and was looking for him, Wen Shixi became instinctively alert.
Wen Shixi: “Now? It’s already very late.”
“It’s not a big deal, it should be over soon.” Secretary Liu made way, spread his arms towards the side of the corridor, and his tone was deep and unrefusable: “Young Master, let’s go.”
