Chapter 6: Heartbeat. A mask deliberately concealing one’s appearance.

After using the last of his taser pen’s power to deal with the security guards blocking the entrance, Wen Shixi didn’t leave the hotel.

As Ling Xiao had said, he’d inhaled too much aphrodisiac while talking to Ling Xiao, and couldn’t go far at all.

Fortunately, after wandering around the hotel for a while, he overheard someone talking about delivering something to the penthouse suite.

He pretended to be staying on the top floor as well, took the elevator up with them, and after the delivery person entered the room, he quietly slipped inside. Relying on his years of experience living in suites, he hid unnoticed in a corner.

Wen Shixi knew Jiang Lian wouldn’t just take him to any hotel; this was most likely a Jiang family property.

The leakage of pheromones from his body was already beyond control. Cheng Xuan’s marking yesterday had been very gentle and shallow, and was long unable to suppress the heat stirred up within him by the aromatherapy.

Ling Xiao was right, no matter where he hid, he would soon be discovered by Jiang Lian’s people; there was no way to conceal it.

Even if he could find a kind person and hide in their room, there was no guarantee Jiang Lian wouldn’t use every possible means to drag him out of the guest’s room.

Wen Shixi thought for a long time, deciding that the person staying in the presidential suite was either rich or noble. Even if they wouldn’t help him, they should at least not harm him.

Moreover, he had looked around the room and only one master bedroom showed signs of being occupied. Since it was already so late, there was no guarantee the person would even return.

Even if they did come back, there were so many rooms in the suite, and if the occupant was a beta, they wouldn’t notice him at all.

He just needed a little luck to hide here until tomorrow, and once the heat symptoms subsided somewhat, he could think of other ways to sneak out.

But at this moment, Wen Shixi held his breath, listening to the sounds, realizing he was just short of that bit of luck.

The sound of footsteps hesitated for a moment after entering the room.

Then, the person followed the direction of the pheromones spreading out.

Wen Shixi clenched his fist lightly, gritting his teeth in the midst of the chaotic heat and pain, considering his words.

The person who could follow the pheromones to find him shouldn’t be a beta.

If it was an omega, that would be fine, but if it was another alpha…

Before long, the footsteps stopped at the door.

The sound of a metal latch was heard, and the door opened in response.

The next second, the man’s steady voice came coldly through the closet door.

“Come out yourself, or I’ll call security. Choose one.”

Wen Shixi’s breathing paused slightly, knowing that continuing to hide was useless.

He moved his arm slightly, placing it on the closet door beside him.

The pain from his gland felt like a knife cutting him with the movement.

Wen Shixi gritted his teeth and pushed open the closet door, letting out a muffled groan.

Wen Shixi’s voice was hoarse as he slowly said, “I’m sorry, I…”

“I don’t like repeating myself.” The man coldly interrupted him, saying in a flat voice, “Go out yourself, or I’ll have security take you out.”

Wen Shixi clenched his fists, his body swaying and trembling, as he stood up from the closet.

He supported himself on the closet door, revealing himself in a corner of the room.

The moonlight outside the window was bright, gently illuminating his soft hair.

Jiang Quanyu stood at the doorway, looking at the omega who had appeared in the suite.

The little omega was simply dressed, his black shirt slightly wrinkled, his sleeves rolled up haphazardly, wearing a Venetian mask that was common at the masked ball downstairs.

With non-stop breathing, Jiang Quanyu’s brow furrowed deeply.

He looked at all the characteristics revealed by the person before him, and his expression grew increasingly dark.

Odorless cool pheromones, a thin figure, simple clothing habits…

And that mask, deliberately concealing his appearance.

Jiang Quanyu pursed his lips slightly, his eyes a dark abyss.

At the same time, Wen Shixi raised his head to look at the face of the person who had come.

His pupils contracted slightly, and the words Wen Shixi had prepared for so long vanished in an instant.

The cold and stern figure stood at the doorway, wearing a neat and elegant suit, his tall figure standing silently in the moonlight.

His dark hair set off the night, and that handsome face was slightly tense, his brow filled with coldness and a hint of easily discernible disgust.

Wen Shixi was somewhat dazed, wondering if he was hallucinating due to the heat, or if there could be two people in the world who looked so similar, even to this extent.

Seeing that the person before him didn’t move for a long time after appearing, Jiang Quanyu’s face was extremely unsightly.

“How many times do I have to say it, or do you prefer to be dragged out by security?”

Wen Shixi clenched his hands tightly, staring at the face of the speaker.

He would not forget Jiang Quanyu’s voice… this was neither his hallucination, nor a similar person.

It was Jiang Quanyu who had returned to the country and was standing right in front of him.

His throat tightened, and Wen Shixi couldn’t utter a single word of help or greeting.

For a moment, he had never imagined that Jiang Quanyu would drive him away like this upon seeing him.

But soon, after only a few seconds, Wen Shixi’s gaze shifted, looking at the edge of his vision, seeing that the outline of the mask was blocking his view.

This was something he had casually grabbed from the venue when he passed by the masked ball, in order to pretend to be a guest and avoid being chased.

It seemed that because of the mask, Jiang Quanyu hadn’t recognized him.

    “Still not leaving?”

As Jiang Quanyu spoke, he reached into his pocket and took out his phone.

The phone lit up, casting a small patch of light on Jiang Quanyu’s face, which lacked a trace of warmth.

Seeing that he was about to call security, Wen Shixi paused his breathing and said in a hoarse voice,

    “I’ll go.”

After receiving the answer, Jiang Quanyu glanced at the omega before him again, and without a moment’s hesitation, turned and walked towards the living room at the entrance of the room.

The cool pheromones on the heated omega were too strong, and Jiang Quanyu knew that even if he was a top-tier alpha, he wouldn’t be able to last long in such an environment.

Jiang Quanyu walked to the living room, standing beside the door, intending to wait for the person to come out on their own.

Jiang Quanyu felt that this “gift” from Elder Master Chen was truly outrageous.

But Jiang Quanyu had neither extra kindness nor extra sympathy, and wouldn’t show a single bit of consideration when facing an omega who allowed others to treat them as a gift.

Before long, the disordered and light footsteps appeared from the corner of the corridor.

Wen Shixi braced himself, walking step by step towards the door.

As he walked, he secretly thought: after leaving here, he would hide in the tool room in the underground garage.

But just as he passed Jiang Quanyu, a bit of alpha pheromone caught him off guard, entering his extremely sensitive body with his breathing.

His mind went blank for an instant, and the next second, Wen Shixi’s legs went weak, and he fell to the ground.

The familiar pheromones, in just an instant, seemed to tear his body apart, breaking into the deepest crevices of his bones, awakening the nightmares and memories deep in his mind.

In the subconscious that was constantly being invaded and catalyzed, extreme heat and desire were like a heavy deep sea, throwing him into inescapable water pressure, making even breathing difficult.

On the other side, Jiang Quanyu frowned again when he saw the person suddenly fall in front of him.

He began to be sure that this little omega was just following Elder Master Chen’s instructions, dawdling in front of him and refusing to leave.

Jiang Quanyu had to admit that the figure before him looked too much like someone, and if he allowed the person to continue staying in front of him, he would definitely be disturbed.

“So unwilling to leave?” For a moment, the driving away was tinged with ruthlessness: “Is it because you were paid, or because you’re an omega, so as long as you’re in heat, it doesn’t matter who you see?”

As Jiang Quanyu spoke, his voice became impatient.

Soon, he took out his phone again.

Just then, just one second before the phone was dialed, a call came in first.

Chen Jiale’s name was clearly displayed. Jiang Quanyu suppressed the anger in his heart and answered the phone, saying “Hello” in a deep voice.

Chen Jiale didn’t hear the extreme coldness in Jiang Quanyu’s words at all, and quickly said, “Didn’t you say you were going back to the old house tomorrow? I saw your dad’s secretary at the hotel entrance, that one surnamed Liu. What’s he doing here?”

Hearing this, Jiang Quanyu frowned slightly: “Secretary Liu? Are you sure it’s him?”

“Sure.” Chen Jiale said, “Also, the security guards in the hotel have all been mobilized, and they’re catching a thief. I heard that the masked ball ended early too, it seems like there’s some kind of trouble. Lock your doors when you sleep. Oh right, you have a suite, so in case you can’t find it, my grandpa said to tell you that the gift he gave you, the assistant put it on the desk for you.”

As Chen Jiale’s voice trailed off, Jiang Quanyu went silent for a full second before quickly asking: “…on the desk?”

“Yeah.” Chen Jiale scratched his head: “You can just throw it away, my grandpa said you liked playing with this the most when you were little, but you’re so old now, ‘the Jiang family successor likes to play with LEGOs’ sounds too stupid.”

    Jiang Quanyu’s lips parted slightly.

The next second, Jiang Quanyu quickly turned his head, looking at the figure lying in the moonlight.

He was going back to the old house tomorrow, and his father’s secretary appearing here should be for someone else.

More importantly, the gift that Elder Master Chen sent wasn’t an omega.

In the center of his vision, because of the fall, the mask on that person’s face was slightly misaligned, revealing a small patch of cheek.

Pale and colorless skin was soaked in the moonlight, cold sweat wetting his temples, like gentle snow.

Jiang Quanyu walked to the person’s side in two steps, squatted down on one knee, and reached out to take off the mask on the person’s face.

A familiar face rushed into his eyes, and even in unconsciousness, his tightly closed eyes and soft lips still revealed a hint of easily discernible pain.

The cold sweat on his forehead, hidden by the mask, was a stark contrast.

Jiang Quanyu inhaled the familiar scent, his hand stopping abruptly.

So, it wasn’t just similar at all.

In a moment of silence, his never-flustered eyes trembled slightly, tinnitus suddenly arose, and his heartbeat roared.
