Rainy days were excellent times for hunting. The noisy autumn rain always made people unconsciously irritable, and their patience plummeted.

For the hunter, a prey that was no longer calm meant that the optimal time for the catch had arrived.

Shen Yi tried to start the car, but found it still unresponsive. His slightly tipsy brain felt even heavier under the pattering rain outside the window, as if submerged in mud and unable to turn.

He checked his phone; no signal. It was nearly midnight, and the thought of his lover waiting in the north of the city made him even more frustrated, so he simply got out of the car.

Because the road was quite remote, Shen Yi waited about ten minutes before flagging down a vehicle.

    “Something wrong?”

The window rolled down, revealing a decent face—a look of gentle reliability—yet the handsome features could not hide a trace of nervousness in his eyes.

Shen Yi, skilled at reading people, quickly drew a conclusion: this person was uncomfortable talking to strangers. A slight curve appeared on his lips. This type of person, though seemingly unlikable in disposition, was actually very easily soft-hearted, likely what people called an overly good person.

He was about to phrase his request when a clear, soft female voice suddenly drifted out from the car stereo, easing the awkwardness between them.

Someone still likes this kind of music? Shen Yi smiled, his usually sharp eyes now showing a hint of approachability. “Hey, buddy, sorry about this. My car broke down, and I have no signal. I have an urgent matter to attend to in the north of the city. Could you possibly help me out?”

The man’s expression grew more constrained as he followed Shen Yi’s gaze to the latest model XXO parked by the roadside.

However, the man only paused for a moment before saying, “Get in.”

It was only then that Shen Yi realized the man had actually locked the car doors. He was certainly cautious. Shedding the last trace of his own wariness, he slipped into the passenger seat.

The rainwater brought in by his outer coat dampened the seat cushion. The man frowned but then turned on the heater, saying softly, “You’ll catch a cold wearing wet clothes.”

Shen Yi was momentarily stunned. Besides, the damp clothes were indeed uncomfortable, so he took off his outer coat. To his surprise, the shirt underneath was also mostly wet, clinging tightly to his skin. Shen Yi spread his hands helplessly. Seeing that the man beside him wasn’t planning to speak further, he leaned back against the seat and remained silent.

Looking out the window, Shen Yi didn’t notice the particularly beautiful scene reflected on the deep blue glass. The semi-transparent fabric encased the smooth lines of his muscles, revealing the flesh underneath. The aesthetically contoured abdominal muscles were faintly visible, making one want to pin him down and savagely bite him.

The female voice on the stereo continued to sing mournfully, blending with the pattering rain outside, making the suppressed hidden desire restless.

The man subtly glanced at Shen Yi and turned off the music.

Shen Yi, who had been drifting off, was roused by the action. He mumbled, “Why did you turn it off? It was quite nice. Who sings it?”

The man, driving, quietly said a name, then turned the music back on.

Shen Yi didn’t catch it, but he had only asked casually. After sitting for a while, he gradually smelled a very unique fragrance. Unlike other air fresheners, it was surprisingly pleasant. Shen Yi initially wanted to ask about it, but seeing the man’s taciturn demeanor, he decided against it.

The destination in the north of the city was still far away. Shen Yi yawned out of boredom. The heater in the car was running high, and the residual alcohol in his blood numbed his drowsy mind. Furthermore, the man driving, though silent and uninteresting, subconsciously provided a strong sense of security.

Listening to the gentle, melodious female voice, Shen Yi quickly fell asleep.
